DR George, thanks for posting the photos. I am still mourning DR TCB, and I wish that both DRs Jose and MBarnum would return to HHW, And DR Ben, tppm while I'm at it.

You're welcome, Larry.  And I agree...it would be great if they came back. :)

George, wonderful photos and memories.   Where was the one with M Barnum taken?

Those were in Portland, a separate legg of Jose's trip.

Confession: I never heard of a chess pie until a couple weeks ago on here. Now I must find one.

Or make one?? ;)

A chess pie and a cherry cordial would start my morning right.

Yum!

LOVE a cream cheese olive sandwich. But there's no history of it in my family. I originally discovered that flavor sensation by ordering an everything bagel with olive & pimiento spread at an excellent (and now-defunct) bagel jernt here in town. Later I started buying their spread. But that's a silly expense because I realized that to make it yourself you only need to dice the olives and stir them into cream cheese. So I did that for a while. Then one day I was famished for that taste but I had no bagels, so I took out whatever bread was here, spread the cream cheese, sliced a bunch of olives in half lengthwise, laid them out on the spread, and it was out of this world fantastic. You can also sprinkle a little extra brine on the thing for even more yummity flavor and moistness.

For me it would be worth buying a large jar of olives, dicing the whole thing up, and having it at the ready. Or just make the spread again, but make it even denser in olives than you'd normally find in a prepared spread.

BTW, if you like that kind of thing, a sandwich to die for is an authentic New Orleans muffaletta. The olive spread on those is out of this world.

DR MBARNUM posted on Facebook this week, so perhaps he is inching his way back to HHW.

We are back from the showroom, where we were looking at digital grand pianos. Not for ourselves, necessarily, although that would be nice.

They're pretty spiffy with every gizmo you would wish for - you can even adjust the "hammer" action. And of course, they have transposition and all the USB, Bluetooth, and sound system hookups. They never need tuning and are easily transported.

They're not real acoustic instrument, of course. But they're approximately $40,000 less.

I just watched a video online of a southern gal preparing cinnamon rolls.

She popped open 2 cans of pre-made cinnamon rolls and laid them out in a baking pan.

She then poured heavy whipping cream all over them to a depth of a least a half inch.

She then prepared a mixture of melted butter, brown sugar, salt, and more cinnamon, and poured all of that over it all.

She then baked it off.

After coming out of the oven, she then drizzled the included icing over the top of it all.

Chess pie is s regional favorite, but I am not sure if it’s the Southern region. It’s a custard pie made with a little cornmeal for texture. It’s akin to a buttermilk pie, which is Southern. But chess doesn’t have to have buttermilk in it.

You can soften the cream cheese a little more by adding some of the olive brine.

The hydrangeas I paid $12 for earlier this spring are now selling for $26 on this day before Mother’s Day.

The digital rain gauge said 3.67 inches of rain fell since midnight. That was out back. Perhaps 3.69 inches fell up front. Perhaps.
