I always hear about how A/C in the Pacific Northwest is not a very common thing in people's homes.

And then I hear about the 90s and 100s and worse air quality than other areas, etc. etc. .....  so, um ..... ?  :)

We have always needed it here, and in Ashland.

I have always wanted to walk up to an operatic soprano and ask, "Aria Ready?"

In this part of the Pac Northwest, 90s/100s has been a rarity until recently, and the hot months a pretty brief portion of the year. That all is likely changing. Haven’t really needed AC so far this year. We’ll see what August brings.

I also had the bright idea of adding fruity Life Savers to cottage cheese. It did not catch on.

My mom used to serve it as a side to a meal.  There would be an iceberg lettuce leaf, a half pear, a scoop of cottage cheese and a cherry on top.  It's how they served it in the cafeterias.

When I finished mine, all the cottage cheese remained on the plate, some of it stained red by the cherry.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe four, maybe five hours of non-consecutive sleep, all thanks to that rancid Big Mac. Never again. EVER. Would not digest, felt like it was all gonna come up (it didn't), and therefore mostly up - watched a Merv Griffen Show with Jack Benny from 1971.

It's a light sentence, and it gives them time to reflect.

I think I liked cottage okay as a kid, and btw it seems like it was more of a "thing" way back then. I might be wrong about that, but I basically didn't have any after I'd left home -- until years later, when I had it a number of times at...

(wait for it)...

Wendy's.

Remember when they had the salad bar? For me this was in the late 1980s, in the Chicago area, then in L.A., and finally here in Danbury before they got rid of the salad bars altogether. It's hard to believe, even for me, but I sometimes went to Wendy's specifically FOR the salad bar and didn't even go near a sandwich. (I'm looking down at my waistline right now, thinking how long ago that was. Oh lordy.) Anyhoo, I took pleasure in eating the cottage cheese there, along with the fruits and veggies, and I most definitely enjoyed it with pineapple chunks.

I just spent ninety solid minutes futzing and finessing three pages I'd already futzed and finessed, but I think I finally got them right. Interestingly, it's a sequence that takes place in a setting that I've never written before, so it was a lot of trial and error. Now ordering a salad, and then I'll continue futzing and finessing.

And yet, she continued to serve your plate with cottage cheese on it ;) ;D

Sunday evening greetings!  I have spent the entire afternoon weeding another bookcase.  It’s a small one, but full of sentimental stuff.  Progress has been made, but I’ve also taken some side trips down memory lane.

I have calculated that Richard and I will each have 23 feet of shelf space in the study and another 7 each in the bedroom.  Those estimates are low, because we’ll each have some desk-adjacent shelving.

One of our favorite side dishes is cottage cheese and cold pickled beets.

While I don't buy cartons of cottage cheese I do enjoy small amounts at breakfast buffets when we travel.

Cottage cheese is in lime congealed salad, which I have to make regularly for my dance instructor. It’s pretty good: lime gelatin, cottage cheese, pecans, canned pineapple, heavy cream.
