Happy Sunday to one and all!  The new Broadway Radio Show looks back at the career of the late Tony Bennett as we listen to 24 of the many show tunes he covered throughout his legendary career.

I love to drink a martini
Maybe two at the most
After three, I'm under the table
After four, I'm under the host

re: BK's complaint about Circus Peanuts not tasting the way he remembers them.

I, too, used to enjoy a Circus Peanut or two...something about the smooth texture and the subdued flavor appealed to me.

Everything I used to love tastes different to me now, though.  Did everything change?  According to DR Chassmith, the answer seems to be YES. Even fish sandwiches cannot be relied upon to please the palate when they are only a few bites.

We have a restaurant in town that is buffet.  You can also take out.  If you eat in, you pay one price and eat as much as you  like.  If you take out, they weigh the container and you pay for the weight.

It usually works out rather well.  Or, it DID. I went on a Friday a year ago because I loved their fried fish.  But they posted a sign saying that fried fish would be charged by the piece....75 cents per piece of fish.  We aren't talking a big fish, either, but a strip of fish.  So, two or three fish strips plus veggies would end up costing more than double what the eat-in price would be.

Eat in for one set price and have as much fish as you want, or pay double and get three strips with some veggies to take out.

They said the price of fish had gone up too high to allow anyone to come in a take it out paying only by weight.

LOL!

She reported that she and her husband went to a Halloween party at a friend's apartment.  Upon arriving, the hostess said, "Oh, you're just in time. We're ducking for apples."

"Ducking for apples?" Parker remarked.  "Change one letter and that's the story of my life!"

Sleeping temperatures began their return last night, though it was very early morning before my room was feeling the difference.

I daresay (oh yes, I do) we won't have to run any air conditioners this week. And isn't that lovely.

I don’t know what it means to not run the AC.

And here, AC isn’t even a thing people have.

From DR Iris:

I agree about needing a change of scenery.
Am unable to do much right now other than paperwork, selling my mom’s place, and sorting through a lifetime of photos, cards, beautiful English teacups, teapots, artwork….my mother was German/British, and I don’t want to get rid of anything.

But, I must, and it hurts, deep into my soul.

I’ll get there eventually.

I know that need to keep those precious items and having to let them go.

Cottage cheese seems to be the new IT girl. I've seen a lot of recipes using it lately, in all sorts of contexts.

Hmm, I don't think I have seen anything I would consider a spoiler.  Does this mean you avoided George's posts about the film?

This is the first day in many weeks that Maryland has not been under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Such a relief.

Hope everyone is enjoying a calm weather Sunday.

Nice, and it seems the temps have dropped a bit.

BK, it’s possible that Pepcid has become expensive because some medical trials have claimed that Pepcid could be effective in treating Covid.

The results are inconclusive.

I hadn't read that.  I can't take it since I am on Protonex.

I much prefer taking a pill every morning to prevent reflux than taking something after I get sick.

In my scuffling NYC days, the pay-by-weight buffet lunch bodega by my office would put out a whole cold salmon. It was the best bargain to just take like a good hunk of it instead of a bunch of heavy potatoes or chicken or whatever.

I have had custard bread pudding that was delicious, and also made an incredible french toast.
