re: BK's complaint about Circus Peanuts not tasting the way he remembers them.
I, too, used to enjoy a Circus Peanut or two...something about the smooth texture and the subdued flavor appealed to me.
Everything I used to love tastes different to me now, though. Did everything change? According to DR Chassmith, the answer seems to be YES. Even fish sandwiches cannot be relied upon to please the palate when they are only a few bites.
We have a restaurant in town that is buffet. You can also take out. If you eat in, you pay one price and eat as much as you like. If you take out, they weigh the container and you pay for the weight.
It usually works out rather well. Or, it DID. I went on a Friday a year ago because I loved their fried fish. But they posted a sign saying that fried fish would be charged by the piece....75 cents per piece of fish. We aren't talking a big fish, either, but a strip of fish. So, two or three fish strips plus veggies would end up costing more than double what the eat-in price would be.
Eat in for one set price and have as much fish as you want, or pay double and get three strips with some veggies to take out.
They said the price of fish had gone up too high to allow anyone to come in a take it out paying only by weight.
