Good morning - home from the church gig - albeit earlier than usual as I have to get to the matinee.  The show is in the town of Half Moon Bay on the coast and there is only one way in over the hill from my place in San Mateo.  It's always busy when the weather is nice and the weather IS nice today and according to WAZE, it will take 40 minutes (unlike the 25 or so) to get there this afternoon.  So, I won't do the last Mass in the month of August so I can get home, eat something for lunch, take the boys out and get on the road earlier than usual.  I'd rather be early than late.

The show is great.  Everything has come together quite well.  I'm proud of everyone - even the banjo player who has totally stepped up his game.  The band is tight, the vocals are great, couldn't ask for much more.  Three weekends after this weekend.

Air conditioning man is here. And wouldn't you know, we turn it on and it's not doing what it's been doing. He swapped out the filter and I'm sure that will help, but I told him to check the thermostat, too.

It is so annoying when that happens.

He put some freon in and could not find any reason for the hot air. He changed the filter. I told him the thermostat has been wonky, shutting completely off so that I have to jiggle the batteries or put new ones in. He put a new thermostat in, too, a much better one than the cheesy thing that was here. Also, turns out Grant's place next door also had an air conditioning problem, so we're all fixed and hopefully whatever it was that caused the ninety-degree air to blow is done.

Temp of the house is coming down quickly now, currently, currently 78. Also, this takes AA batteries and they're super easy to get to, unlike the other one, where you had to remove the entire shell to get to the tiny AAA batteries.

My apartment building has a "rummage" table in the garage where you can leave stuff you don't want anymore. And this morning, a snagged a tagine!

Bruce, I suggest you put a reminder on your calendar to change the filter.  Did he say how often you should do it?

It's been so long since I made my own (non-microwave) that I think I need to remember the precise measurements better.

It wasn't a disaster, but there were a lot of wasted unpopped kernels.
