An interesting episode of RESCUE ME tonight, too. The fire chief in the show has a gay son that he's had a hard time accepting. The chief's wife decided to have a birthday party for the son's lover, and the fire chief MADE all the firemen at the station attend the party so he wouldn't be the only straight man there. That hoary old belief that gay men will rape any straight man because he's irrisistible was put to rest during the show, and the chief began a slight move toward acknowledging that his son's happiness was more important than his own disappointment in not having had a straight son. Some good moments.

DR Stuart - I took my Mom to Vegas for her 75th birthday as well. Got expensive tickets to Celine Dion and "O" but the show she loved best was the drag show AN EVENING AT LA CAGE at the Riviera, which we got at the half-price booth.

I personally loved JUBILEE at Bally's, reasonably priced and spectacular design, but there was the perverse thrill of seeing Sondheim songs (Beautiful Girls, All i Need Is The Girl) performed while topless showgirls and showboys were parading around.

I've just caught up with the posts from yesterday and today. (not be confused with the Sophia Loren movie as I have not yet read tomorrow's - although my today is your tomorrow so perhaps I have!).

Thank you to all the sun and dried supporters of OzDerek. Despite his brave face to the world, this has not been a good week. I shall pass on all your wishes. I hope to catch up with him on Friday or Saturday and, despite his comments to the contrary, I shall be visiting him in hospital.

FInally finished up THE MARY TYLER MOORE Season 2 episodes. Still have the special features to watch, but I really want to make a start on those DVR movies tomorrow. Maybe TONY ROME first.

Just picked up The Thin Man set, and the 25th anniversary edition of The Blues Brothers, and three Shirley Temple new releases (coming end of month) - Heidi, Little Miss Broadway, and Curly Top. We love our Shirley Temple.

Good Evening!

Back from the pizza and dance party... Lots of fun. Lots of scandalous gossip was shared, and I even took some semi-scandalous pictures too! -which I may or may not post. We shall see...

However, during the course of the evening, a bunch of us gathered around a laptop and took a look-see at this here site. I had been telling the creative team that I had posted the pics on the web, and they wanted to know where, so...

They all appreciated the comments and compliments, and I think I may have recruited a few more "acolytes" - or at least lurkers.

And DR elmore - Curtis loved seeing the pic of you and Jane that he took last year.

We all ended up taking a break mid-party to head over to the Mainstage. One of the main backers for this project was attending On the Razzle tonight, and Roger Rees thought it would be a nice gesture if everyone who was a direct beneficiary of her generosity stopped by to say Hi and Thank You at intermission. So that's what we did.

We also learned at that time, that Roger would like to put together a "compact" presentation of both leapFROG projects - there's one play and one musical - and present them in New York City sometime shortly after WTF comes to a close. -Fingers crossed.

And tonight was also the first time that I officially met Mr. Rees. When I introduced myself, he asked, "Who are you?" I said, "I'm Jose. I'm the musical director."

"Oh, you're the one who came in. Come here and let me give you a hug."

-Now I'm just trying to figure out if there's anyway I can list that on my resume.

Now to catch up a bit...

Age - I've said it before here... Turning 30 was wonderful for me. So many things came together for me in my 30th year. And, more importantly, I finally let go of all of that angst from my 20s. It was great feeling mature - even though I may not always act mature.

I'll be 37 in two weeks... And I'm already looking forward to turning 40!

DR vixmom - As DR Jennifer noted, the Public has always offered a premium for their Sponsors - corporate and otherwise. It's basically like getting the DVD of "Riverdance" from PBS when you make of pledge of $120 - or whatever it is in your neck of the woods. Normally, you'd have to stand in line for the tickets, and then stand in line again to get into the Delacorte. By becoming a sponsor, you receive a ticket and seating in a "reserved" area. No lines. And since The Public is a non-profit, you also get a nice tax deduction should you wish to take it.

You've all been so busy. I'll have a lot of catching up to do. I, too, have been busy-- but in rather mundane ways.

As far as movies that had a huge impact on my life, practically any movie I saw as a kid had an impact in that it allowed me to escape into a wonderful dream world and intorduced me to many of the things I still love.
