Ushering for a chamber music concert tonight. Don’t know what is on the program, but the rehearsal sounds lovely.

Fortunately, we did not return to our recliners - I went to the kitchen to unload the dishwasher and Richard went to the bathroom.  I heard an awful crash and, upon investigation, found a huge hole on our ceiling right above Richard’s chair and all kinds of crud all over the chair and floor.  It was a miracle I didn’t also find the HVAC guy.  His foot slipped and punctured the ceiling, but he didn’t fall through.

Oh, my goodness!! :o

Whew!  And good thing that someone else has to clean up and fix all of that!

Eventually we had 3 HVAC guys here in 3 trucks for 3+ hours trying to fix the heating system.  They said they’d be back “tomorrow.”  So, this morning we got up at 7:30, got dressed, and - you guessed it - they never showed.

How rude! >:(

Normally Bryan sends me flowers for my birthday.  This year, since I am old, Craig sent a beautiful arrangement.  He then called during a break at work.

Very nice!

Wish the article had a picture of his Dolly concept, but who knows if he even kept a copy of it.

David Edward Byrd is one of my two favorite Braodway artists.  Doug Johnson, who designed the posters for Ain't Misbehavin' and Big River (among others) is my other favorite. ;D

That particular branch of the DMV is, for whatever reason, never that crowded. Other DMVs, you can't even get an appointment for months and then it's a two or three-hour ordeal. I'm keeping mum on the subject.

A cleaning service sounds like an excellent idea, DR Jane.

Some specialize in doing a complete cleaning to prepare a home before or after a move.

Yes, I’ve requested an estimate from Merry Maids for a move-out cleaning.

Oh man, what a close call, DR Ginny.  In more ways than one!

I've had to have two (2) such ceiling repairs here. The first was MY fault, when I didn't look where I was going and one leg busted through from the attic into my bathroom.  Oops.

The Xfinity cable guy did it the second time. He thought he was stepping on plywood, but I suddenly heard a noise and an expletive, and he'd put a leg through to another room. The cable company's insurance paid immediately, no problem or delay there.

Anyway, I'm very glad you two were away from the area. Even small debris would not have been a nice thing to have raining down on you.

I just received the new BFI release of Michael Powell's film of Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle.

I'd never seen that, and on just checking out the disc, I can tell you it is a feast for the eyes. I hope for the ears as well, but I won't have a good chance to properly watch and listen to it or a couple of days. Very glad to have it, though.

I also got the first volume of BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas. Can't wait to see these for my first time. I'm an idiot, though. They just released volume two, and I should have included that in my order.

The DMV in Ashland was nice.  Only once did we experience any kind of wait.

Our favorite waitress from Beaches, who now works at The Cove was working tonight :)  We hadn't seen her in a long while so it was nice.

The view of our little marina was pretty with many of the boats decorated for Christmas.
