Thank you for the nice photos, DR JOSSE.  I’m sure you’d be a great tour guide and would like to join your tour in NYC someday in the future. :)

A traditional Birthday Cake with candles for DR TCB, who is most assuredly celebrating his 39th natal day.   ;)

Many, many happy returns of the day, DR TCB!

I don't really know from Robert Redford or Paul Newman movies. I know "The Way We Were." Does that count?

Jose: I'm free for lunch, but I'm afraid I can't go until 3:00. Is that too late for you?

And for DR TCB:

Favorite Robert Redford movies:

THE STING (by far)
THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR
ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN
THE WAY WE WERE (even though he's too old for the college scenes)
BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID

As for the TOD:

I like both Redford and Newman...but not crazy about their movies...I did enjoy Paul Newman’s appearance on WHAT’S MY LINE when he was the mystery guest, and I suspect that if I were to see THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIAN’S I would enjoy that movie.

As for Robert Redford, I prefer his television guest spots on Perry Mason THE CASE OF THE TREACHEROUS TOUPEE and on the episode of TWILIGHT ZONE “NOTHING IN THE DARK”. I understand he is very good in the film WAR HUNT co-starring Mr. John Saxon, but I have yet to see that film.

Favorite Paul Newman movies:

THE STING (by far)
THE VERDICT
THE HUSTLER
HUD
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF (though the part was damaged on its transfer to the screen, not Newman's fault)
BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID

Thanks, bk, on the report on TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I haven't watched the DVD I've got with the nonanamorphic letterboxed picture on the new TV, so I think I'll watch it at some point this week to determine if I want to re-buy this title. The Samsung DVD player I have (which upconverts DVDs to near-high definition quality using the HDMI input/output) can also manipulate regular letterboxed movies so that the resolution doesn't suffer by slightly blowing up the image. I'll try working with it, too, to see what kind of image quality I get before investing in the new MOCKINGBIRD.

THE STING will be a blind purchase. I want it in anamorphic widescreen, and I suspect this is the only way we're going to get it for the foreseeable future.

Another of Redford's movies that I thoroughly enjoy his performance in is LEGAL EAGLES. The movie's a mess with a mystery plot that's not well thought out, but Redford is at his breeziest in the film, and I really enjoy watching him at work here.

This made me laugh long and loud.

But never fear, TCB, my birthday cake in a few days will make this look like a single lit match!

Also hilarious, DR vixmom!

I actually started to upload a REAL beefcake shot for DR TCB, but again, I'm at the wrong computer station to do it.

I could almost stand a version of THE STING with George Clooney and Brad Pitt (but at least put Hugh Laurie or Clive Owen as their nemesis).

We'd actually come closer to getting Adam Sandler and Owen Wilson as the two leads.

I popped into Wal-Mart this morning to shop for a few items and happened to notice I LOVE LUCY, the 5th season on sale for cheaper than Amazon had it, so I picked that up, too, thinking of DR JRand after I bought it.

I very nearly almost got up at 5:30 again, but I remembered how tired I was last night and decided to try getting a bit more sleep after my sinsues cleared a bit (another iffy night, allergy-wise)

The next 1 1/2 hours were the best sleep I've had in ages.

I feel peppier than usual as a result.

Yesterday I took the Vixter to Splish Splash out in Riverhead on the Island of Long.  It bills itself as the biggest and best water park on Long Island (to my knowledge it is also the ONLY water park on Long Island but thatis neither here nor there)

We had a lovely time... the initial forecast was breezy and cloudy and it kept the crowds away til afternoon  and it turned out to be e aperrectly lovely day weatherwise and eeryotherwaywise  No camp groups full of crazy pushing unsupervised kids... very enjoyable day.

I did realize how out of shape this desk job has gotten me when the Vixter persuaded me to join her and attempt the "Cliff Diver " slide (she has wanted to do this for years and she is finally tall enough)  Well this sliode is EIGHT (count 'em) EIGHT stories high and you have to walk up those EIGHT stories.  By time I got to the sixth  landing I didn't care if there wasn't a slide at the top I was not walking back down!!

Two showers and a hairwash later I still smell chlorine it either imbedded itself into my skin or simply burned out my sinuses

Now I must attempt to catch up with yesterday!

Lordy, Lordy!

It's ANOTHER birthday for TCB!

Man!  They sure roll by quickly now, don't they!

;D

I know you're going to be all festive today.  May I add my "Happy Birthday" to the bunch?

And since it's bound to come up, let me offer this photo of a guy in his birthday suit in hopes that some other DP (dear poster) doesn't request the same of you in yours:

I am leaning toward THE RAZOR'S EDGE for today's viewing. It's a long movie and will take the day to get through (starting and stopping as things come up like ringing telephones and household chores).

I just had a customer who applied to NINE - count 'em...NINE! - shows, each requiring manual processing and data entry. Now, honestly - a person should be able to narrow their choices down to three shows. We're not even talking about shows that are similar to one another! She applied for FAME and SWEENEY TODD. She applied for SEUSSICAL and ASSASSINS. Then she applied for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and a whole slew of other titles that I can't even remember. She knows she can only do one of those nine shows - narrow it down before you make someone else do all that work!!!
