DR MattH, I think the episode of Veronica Mars you saw was 19/22.  I just saw episode 16.  Are they showing them in order on reruns?

King is Carole King. Goffin is Gerry Goffin. Together they wrote a slew of the biggest pop hits ever.

Favorite Bacharach: A relative obscurity; "You're Following Me," as performed by piano bar diva Elena Bennett on her "Wrinkle in Swingtime" album. Can't really think of a King & Goffin song that makes my all-time favorite list, though...

Up on the Roof
You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman
Sometime in the Morning
Go Away Little Girl
Who Put the Bomp, etc.
Some Kind of Wonderful

British police crack missing gnome case
Two women charged after for pilfering from gardens in Central Scotland

In an apparent breakthrough in a series of mysterious garden raids in Scotland, police in Britain have charged two women after discovering a huge cache of garden gnomes, the BBC reported Wednesday.

Police reportedly found least 40 gnomes, hedgehogs, rabbits and furniture in a house in Alloa, Clackmannanshire in central Scotland in what they described as an Aladdin's cave of garden ornaments. They also unearthed more than 60 plant pots and 25 solar lights, according to the BBC.

People in Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk in Central Scotland had complained that gnomes, hedgehogs and rabbits had gone missing, it said.

The discovery was the culmination of an 11-day police investigation into the spate of thefts.

Cracking the case was described as a "significant achievement" by Detective Constable Roy Lake, but the challenge of making sure the gnomes had a home to go to remained, the BBC said.

"Our task now is to identify who the items belong to and ensure they are given back to their rightful owners," he was quoted as saying.

Guess I owe Travelocity an apology, I was blaming them!

I LOVE THIS CD!!! I play it all the time. She worked with Fred Barton of Miss Gulch Returns fame to put it together. MGR is also a very, very funny CD.

Yes, they are showing them in order. I've been able to follow the clues to the death of her friend, the progression of her infatuation/infuriation with Logan, etc. Everything has been done correctly with these reruns.

Well, the soundtrack of KISMET arrived today, so I'm off to give it a listen. I'll be back later today after I've overdosed on Norma Shearer films.

One must assume Jason was joking.  Or else I'm seriously old all of a sudden.   ;)

We've been sleepless for two nights, too, worrying about all this house nonsense.  But we sure have great chats at 2 in the morning.   :)

B&D:  well, we're doing "Something Big" (the song) at another fundraiser tonight, so I'll say that for now.  Although some of the rare stuff we dug up for the revue is great.

G&K:  so many great tunes, so little time.  I love "Going Back," too, used to be a staple of my lounge piano days.

I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon.  Won't be terrible.

Then I'm free until Monday morning as I'm taking tomorrow off (AGAIN!!!).

I love these lovely "lull" days in August.

If I was awake, I'd take DR FJL's title about Jose and run with it, but alas, I'm still asleep.

Favorite Bacharach songs:

Are You There With Another Girl?
Knowling When To Leave
She Likes Basketball
... heck, anything from Promises, Promises
Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head
Wives and Lovers

As for Goffin and King, I'll need to get back on that one.

I finished watching "Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte" last night.  It's a bit of a slow go in the first half hour of the film, but it picks up quite well.

Bette Davis chews quite a bit of the scenery, as does Agnes Moorhead.  What I wouldn't have given to have been on that set during shooting!

Olivia de Havilland looks terrific throughout the film...the more I've learned about her, the more I've come to believe she wasn't necessarily having to "stretch" her "acting" horizons during those scenes in which she was mean to Charlotte.  She was one tough cookie, that one was.

And a stunning woman, to boot!

Greetings all.

Bachrach & David:
Knowing When to Leave
San Jose
Casino Royale
A bunch of other Dionne/Dusty hits that I can't think of right now.

Goffin/King:
As with other Dear Readers, I had no idea who this team might be, until they were identified above.  I never knew Carole King wrote such...well, dreck.  Fun dreck to be sure, but dreck, just the same.  Not knowing what they really wrote, I will say that some of the songs mentioned are indeed faves, such as the Locomotion.

WB, DR Elan.  I thought your post was exceedingly funny.

Happy Birthday to DR Hisaka's mom.

Vibes to Jason.  Just because he needs them.

And many other vibes to our Floridians.

More later, film at 11.

Does anybody else get a very sore right thumb muscle? (the one you use to click on the mouse).

I never knew i used that muscle so much until i couldn't use it (writing, cooking...).  Well I have been a left mouse clicker for 2 days now (finally getting the hang of it).

I took a muscle relaxant, and 24 hours later i still feel very loopy.  So eithre the pill is very strong, or it goes right through my body.

Btw, for Big Brother fans, any guesses what tonight's America's Choice will be?

Some have guessed MTV awards, or a phone call.

I hope it is something good, although i'm quite doubtful.

And since Janelle is currently the most popular houseguest, does that mean she will win?

(at least the friendsheep won't win).

Btw, new funny name for april = ape. :)

TUMESCENT, baby, TUMESCENT.
