I’m going through some old files — this week health insurance. Many years of EOBs (Explanation of Benefits). Yesterday I spotted something interesting. Year before last I went to a new dermatologist. Among other things I showed her a mole that has changed repeatedly — a danger sign. She said she’d check with my insurance about removing it. She then went on vacation and I didn’t hear from her. A couple weeks later her office called me on another matter and I asked whether she’d remove the mole. They said there was nothing about it in her notes, but they’d Chechen with her. The doctor said  she didn’t remember it. We went round and round and she gave me a different reply each time, finally saying, It’s not malignant.” (How would you know if you can’t even recall looking at it?)  Annoyed, I changed dermatologists and had the mole removed. Yesterday, as I was clearing out these files I noticed a charge from her office, on the day of my visit, to Medicare for a shave biopsy. Very interesting! Is that why she was being so squirrelly? I was not charged anything, but it sure looks suspicious. I’ll mention it to my PCP.

Hmmm.  I would think you would remember if it was shaved for a biopsy.

Exactly. And why would we even be discussing it?

Water for Elephants (the musical) would probably rhyme "trellis" with "fellas."

The DH is watching Antiques Roadshow, and I'm looking around the place thinking "what do we have here that could net us a few hundred thousand dollars?"

The other news here was a big surprise. The daughter of the owner of my apartment building lives onsite and has always managed the building. Today that changed and a professional management company has taken over. It’s been chaos, Instead of introducing themselves and letting us know where to pay our rent we each received a cryptic text about signing up to their portal. Most people didn’t even know who sent the text. Then we each received an email reminding us that the rent is due today. We finally received a letter from them, giving us the necessary information. We can mail them our rent, drive to Sherman Oaks to hand-deliver it, or send it electronically for $2.49 each time, or an even higher change using a credit or debit card. My neighbor was livid. I called my bank, and a helpful person said that she’s seen this a lot, fees just to pay your rent. This does not bode well. I cannot recall a single positive experience I’ve had with a property management company — but many negative ones,

Our weather has been very nice, sunny and 70s. Not too hot. That will change in a few days, but to have not-hot weather in July is a pleasant change.

Yikes! Not a great first impression to make on the people who live in your building!

Right, there would be a report of the results.
