I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.

I'm charging the camera battery (I didn't even know I could), and then I shall post photographs of last night.

There is some triathalon madness happening today - just about all of Hollywood is blocked off and even some streets near my house.  I just don't like these events.  I asked someone why they did them, and they said because people like to do these events.  Well, there are events I like to do, yet I don't have to make traffic miserable for half the city.

My friend has been deposited at the airport and things are back to normal here.  It was nice to see her after all these years, but there is a weird negative energy that emanates from her and I am very sensitive to that stuff and just can't be around it for long periods.  And she's a smoker, so every hour she was outside puffing away, and then would reek of it.

Gotta run.  Target has the time cards for my cell phone on sale.

2  $20.00 cards for $30.00.  If I buy four I'll get one for free and that will give me more then enough for the trip.

Laters!

BK you are lucky to have friends from when you went to school.  I could fall over someone from mine (and I mean from 1-12) and I wouldn't know them.

Same here, DR Danise. Three or four of my classmates in the sixth grade ended up in high school classes because we were in the college prep classes; everyone else from sixth grade went their separate ways in high school.

After high school, no one went to the same college I went to, so that ended our association then, ad I've never seen them since.

The Charlotte marathon route goes right in front of my house, so twice a year, the street is blocked off an entire Saturday morning so those runners have a clear path. Thankfully, there are other ways out of my neighborhood in the event I'd have to leave.

A friend just called to offer me a free ticket to the Carolina Panthers/New Orleans Saints football game this afternoon.

No thanks, I told him. I just have NO interest in actually watching a pro football game, though I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would have killed for this ticket.

I'm ready, willing, and able to post photos, but the upload folder is once again full, because you nutty people have been so photo crazy of late.  So, we'll have to wait for Mr. Mark Bakalor to awaken and do a purge.  Hopefully soon, but you never know.

Watched ALL THAT JAZZ last night. TPunk had never seen it. It's a great movie on many levels.

Wonder if anyone on here knows who the John Lithgow character is supposed to be in real life, if anyone?

BK, interesting that you talk about a smoking old schoolmate with a negative energy.  Skip recently flew out to California with a  friend for his high school's centennial, and since they were flying together, we were able to upgrade both Skip's and the friend's plane tickets (on our account), and the whole trip, this friend was apparently full of negativity and smelled of smoke.  One fun example was, after the trouble we went to to upgrade her to first class, this friend said during the trip "I'd give you maybe 5 bucks extra for this seat over coach."

I don't think it was supposed to be Michael Bennett - I can't remember who it was supposed to be, though - maybe I'll ask T. Walton.

I need a topic of the day.  How about stupid misheard song lyrics.  :)

Seeing TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA got me thinking of FOLLIES.  I could have sworn the lyric in "Who's That Woman?" was "Hi there! Kiss me, Tarzan" instead of "Hi there, kiss me, Bye there." I also thought Yvonne de Carlo was singing "Pedicures, religion and pills" instead of "rest cures."  (What can I say?  I had a cheap hi-fi with tinny speakers.)

So happy that the LAUNCHING party was a great success.

I haven't mentioned it yet, but I think the STAGES cd cover is one of the cleverest I have ever seen.  Was this the original LP cover as well?

DR FJL - quite coincidentally in the course of my library work this week, I ran across a series of books by Gavin Edwards:

'Scuse Me While I Kiss this Guy, and Other Misheard Lyrics
He's Got the Whole World in his Pants:  More Misheard Lyrics
When a Man Loves a Walnut:  Even More Misheard Lyrics
Deck the Halls with Buddy Holly:  And Other Misheard Christmas Lyrics

Chances Are
Small World
Namely You

What are everyone's favorite LP covers?

Valley of the Dolls is nice.

DR MATTH - If only Lana Turner had had Robert Sterling as HER Mike Rossi instead of Lee Philips, then PEYTON PLACE would have been a much more believable movie!  Eleanor Parker is okay as Connie, but Carol Lynley is inadequate as Allison, and Tuesday Weld....WELL!!!   Mary Astor and Lucianna Pallucci are the BEST performers in the movie!

With the New York mayoral primaries coming this Tuesday, there's that famous misheard lyric from the movie of GREASE:  "Hope the city voted for you."  (that is, the misheard version of Hopelessly Devoted to You)

And in honor of Rupert Holmes' blurb about BK's REWIND, there's the person who claimed to have heard "If you like pina coladas" as "If you like bean enchiladas."

I'll stop soon if this doesn't catch on.  :)

Last night Joseph sold a coat for 27 centimeters....47 centimeters....27...47....  And so I just said: "A bargain at ANY price!"

Not exactly a misheard lyric, but certainly misinterpreted:  My last community theatre appearance was as Sarah in Company.  The jerk playing my husband thought "a piece of Mahler's" referred to...candy  ::)

Reportedly, Elaine Stritch originally thought "a piece of Mahler's" was a piece of cake from a bakery called Mahler's.  I think she mentioned this in her one-woman show.

JRand, my computer guru (DS Rob) wants to know what email client you're using?  Eudora? Outlook?
