MichaelG is approaching post #500.  Should we maybe congratulate the first half-a-millstone, or is that going too far?

I just realized I don't know if "flyers" or "fliers" is correct in this context.

Either spelling, so glad that had a happy resolution, singdaw!

Starting a horror movie I have wanted to see for some time called Hereditary. It stars Toni Collette.

Reminds me of when they contacted Rose Marie about joining the cast of the Dick Van Dyke Show, and her response was, “What’s a Dick Van Dyke?”

My cousin is coming home from the hospital today after all of her rehab, so that is good news.

Excellent news!

Thursday afternoon greetings!  Today I completed my 4 weeks of radiation therapy and rang the bell to celebrate.

Now I need a nap.

I am very happy for you.  Good vibes it won't be long before your energy returns.

I agree. My friends and I shared a nice Barolo last night with dinner. Haven’t had one in a while.

We were in Barolo and Barbaresco in May. Here's a photo from Vietti.

Lovely photo.

I daresay no one else here will be impacted by the weather situation with Helene.

However, local weather people have said this will be one of the most fierce storms in recent memory.  I have no idea of how much my area will be impacted, but major flooding is predicted all around me, along with wind damages (especially trees) and the ubiquitous power outages that result.

Sigh.

I am under a Tropical Cycolone Warning, and a Tornado Warning, until tomorrow morning.  And that doesn't begin to cover the possible future.

Helene was classified as a Category 4 an hour ago and it had not made landfall.  We've gotten more than 6 inches of rain over the past 24 hours, and the storm hasn't made landfall yet.

Good vibes you will be ok.

Today, I learned that the cat was reclaimed by the owner at about 8:00pm last night.

Good news.

That was thoughtful of you.

Yesterday was a difficult day.  I was worse and every bump in the road caused my back to spasm.  Fortunately today was much better and we had a very exciting day.

Our drive through the Colorado Rockies was incredibly beautiful. We finally saw the Aspens in their autumn glory.

TOD: I collect CDs and wine, but for listening and drinking vs investing. I had run out of space for CD storage, but then I discovered Space Saving Sleeves and now I have room to buy CDs again: https://spacesavingsleeves.com/

Those look really cool, especially if they fit all the paperwork without having to fold it in half.  I hate that.

They maintain the artwork, making it look more like a gatefold album. You just need to fold the right edge over the right hand side of the back insert. Often that's blank, but if there's a photo you might lose the edge. But that's a tiny nit in the overall quality. They also don't stand up straight by themselves, but I have enough CDs in digipaks, double CDs, and box sets that it works out.

Very nice.

This weekend was meant to be the first ever Mars Hill University (my alma mater) Theater Department Alumni Reunion.

More than 150 folks who obtained theater degrees from the school over the past 60 years signed up.

I made my excuses this morning, however.  Given the weather situation and my age, I thought it inadvisable to embark upon such a journey tomorrow given the appalling weather conditions amassing as a result of Hurricane Helene.  Every update is much worse than the last, and I don't want to be riding in gale force winds and driving rains, which seems to be the prognosis over the next couple of days.

I notified the organizer and offered up my two paid registration events to someone who may like them but hadn't yet paid.  He thanked me, said I'd be missed, and that was that.

Two hours later, I received a text advising that the university would be closed Friday and that all events scheduled that day are cancelled. That includes a dinner i paid for.

I suspect the entire events will be cancelled, however.  Perhaps it will be rescheduled for a time in the near future.

Otherwise, that's the way the reunions crumble.

That's too bad Ron.  Hopefully, they can reschedule and you'll be able to go without paying again...hopefully.
