Elmore, are you going to see Gypsy?

No. Have you seen the ticket prices? It's outrageous.

I had hoped they had arranged a comp for you

The students this morning were all elementary students, so no Bitches' Brew. In fact, the jazz band honored Davis in a unique way: No trumpeter. But the music was great. There was a piano player, tenor and alto sax, drums and bass. And they played beautifully.

Meanwhile, there was a narrator on stage and recordings of Davis telling his story, plus visuals. It was a bit of a hagiography. No mention of drugs or his mental health state, abusing Cicely Tyson or anything negative. But the music was great. And the kids were attentive.

That does sound like it was a great concert, John.

Two things:
    1. I'm working for the composer's estate, not the production;
    2. I really have no urge to see tis production beyond seeing my friend Danny.

Did you know that Danny had first met dear Rebecca when they were both in Skip and Jack's show TIME AND AGAIN at the Old Globe in San Diego?

I think Skip first met our own BK during the run of that show at the Old Globe.  (not the same sparks, of course)

GYPSY is offering discounted tickets using the passcode GIMMICK - for as little as $99 plus fees for sections of the orchestra and $69 for parts of the mezzanine. The flyer suggests best availability for the discount would be January and February.

Would we have imagined twenty or so years ago that $99 would be a super-discounted Broadway price in 2024?

But it is, and it now sounds like a bargain in today's terms!

Two tickets for $198 plus fees still seems like a lot of money.

You could buy a couch for $198, if you shopped at the right places.
