No money yet even thought they got the signed title yesterday. This is infuriating, so I've been e-mailing and all I'm being told is that she's waiting for approval. She knows I want my new car and says it will be timely. Well...

VIBES YOU GET THIS TOMORROW!

I am so angry with myself for being so damn stupid. I should have stopped the call instantly and said I'd call back the number - that would have told me everything. But I was in the middle of writing an e-mail to my insurance gal and my head was not on straight, even though I knew there was something off about the call from the get-go and I said so several times, which is why I finally said "NO MORE QUESTIONS" and she promptly got off the line.

It is exhausting trying to remember all the scams.

I mean, I can still go to the car place and give them what I can give them and get the car - they're willing to give me the car without the payment being complete, but I'm nervous to do that until I have this second payment.

I think it is best to wait for the money but keep confirming with the car place that they are still holding it for you.

Not answering the phone ever, is one solution, but here you are waiting for calls about another thing, so of course you pick up.

Keith did something to my phone that alerts me "possible scam".  I avoid those.  Once I know that a voice message wasn't left I block the number.

I had some gal call me through work the other day, ostensibly to pitch me a product story, but she clearly barely had any idea what kind of magazine we are. Why did I give her my email? They get you with your guard down.

I just took an assignment for an article.

Great.

The article is a short piece (600 words) on a restaurant in town that earned a Michelin star, the only place in town to do so.

Perfect for you :)

The article pays $250. That’s the cost of dinner there. Guess it’s a break even proposition.

:o  I expected them to pay for your meal.

I really can’t write about service without experiencing it.

You do want to experience it, right?

DR FREDDIE a dear friend gave me a copy of THE SEASON longer ago than many posters here on HHW have been alive.

Even though some of it is outdated - it is also one of the BEST Broadway books I have ever read.

I loaned a paperback copy to a dear friend.  After she passed, her daughter gave me some of her theeder collection....and there was my paperback.

I encourage anyone interested in Broadway to seek out a copy.

I mostly remember the story of two married (to women) men in the lobby of the Palace Theeder in the 1968 or early 1969 return to the Palace of Judy Garland.

1st Guy:  I don't know.....is it theeder?
2nd Guy:  It's gotta be.
1st Guy:  Whadda ya mean?
2nd Guy:  It sure as hell ain't singin'.

And there are a couple of songs from GOLDEN RAINBOW that I really like....including the infamous freewheeling patio number.
And I used the overture in a production of Vampire Lesbians of Sodom that I directed as the BIG finale.

The numbers were the season followed by the episode.

We're starting to watch season 4 of FBI International.

The character who's taken over the "Fly Team" for season 4 doesn't give me the same confidence in the (TV version of the) FBI that I felt from the leader of the Team in seasons 1 to 3.  The new lead actor playing the part is very good, though.

THE SEASON's view on gay people is more than a bit antiquated by today's NYC standards, but given that, it's a fascinating  book.

I haven't read The Season in years, but I remember thoroughly enjoying it.
