As I mentioned earlier, I did go the the BCEFA Flea Market. I go to see friends, I don't go to buy much. I will buy a few things as a donation (I also spend time in December as a Volunteer) but so much of the stuff is so far out of my price range, and frankly, it's stuff I don't want. What am I going to do with a set piece from Wicked (or other similar things). I don't need autographed scripts or old Playbills from shows I never saw. This is
NOT to belittle those who choose to buy these items,
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE at my comments. It's just that I was in the business for a long time and even though I appreciate meeting stars and have a few autographs, buying most theatrical ephemera from shows in which I wasn't involved doesn't get my juices flowing. I would rather see a show and discuss it with friends instead of buying a used script. Also, the layout of the fair, IMHO, gets a little crowded and the older I get, the less I like crowds. It was very crowded from the time it opened (at 10am). I stayed for about 90 minutes, some of that time spent talking to friends. It's a very positive experience and I greatly appreciate all the work BCEFA does (the organization has helped many friends of mine over the years) so I don't want to make it sound unpleasant, it's just not a theatre highlight for me. I'm not a curmudgeon, even though the above post makes me sound like one
