I'm up, I'm up.  Finally had a good night's sleep, and am hoping that this slightly sore throat I woke up with is just some weirdness and that it will go away promptly.  Otherwise, it looks like we have a beautiful day here in the City of Studio.  I'll expect full reports from our NY contingent.

And we've already had one correct guess in the trivia contest, so it is gettable, even though one part of it seems to be eluding folks (the comment question - clew: a comment from a critic).

And the word of the day is: TACTILE!
Diplomats regularly gather for the Diplomat Convention at the world-famous Tact Isle.

Good Afternoon!

Sheesh!  It's been like Grand Central around here this morning.  One of  my roomie's has family visiting - so I spent a little time with them.  Then I finally got a call about the package I was possibly getting FedEx'd to me this morning.  Alas, it will be here in Monday.  Then my friend, Andy, called me with a computer issue - and also just to say HI.. etc., etc., etc...

So..

Now I'm ready to head down to meet up with DRs elmore and MBarnum!  YEAH!  So looking forward to meeting Michael in person!

Well..

Laters...

A wonderful group called Faithful Friends is picking up Rocky today.

I am amazed at what a retired engineer with a camera coupled with a dedicated web-posting/networking lady volunteer can accomplish. None of this would be possible without today's hi-tech tools.

For the foodies, October is Vegetarian Month, along with Hunger Awareness Month, Cook Book Month, Cookie Month, Apple (and Applejack) Month, Pasta Month, and Country Ham Month.  And it is National Pork Month, but that may be referring to Washington D. C. instead of food.

And Pudding Season begins.

Emotional Wellness Month.

Gay and Lesbian History Month.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

National Crime Prevention Month.

National Roller Skating Month.

And, last but definately not least...

(Anyone not celebrating this last is definitely a party pooper.   ::))

Thanks, DR Ben.

I barely slept last night as well.

I like going on trips but the hardest part for me is saying bye to Mom and the dogs.  I'm always crying in the van on the way to airport and I know the guy thinks I'm nuts.  I'm ok once we're on the road but till we get down the street......

I don't think you are nuts.  I know the feeling.

My flight to Dulles Airport leaves at 6:15 tomorrow morning.

DRMBarnum just called; he's on the bus terrorizing pasengers with photos of saggy ageing gladiators and Bollywood memorabilia.  Their background cries for mercy were pitiful.

 ;D ;D ;D

Glad to know he made it to the big city.

And for those DRs and lurkers who would like to head to Splash on Monday night...  I guess we could all meet at 8:00, post-Barrymore's, around Barrymore's.  Otherwise, see you down there around 8:30.  Phone calls will be made, e-mails will be sent.

Fabulous- I'm working at GMHC until 9 on Monday night so I can meet you guys there.  And remember, it's 2 for 1 drinks until 9...

Can one just show up at Barrymore's if one can make it, or does a reservation have to be made with a  specific number of people?

Looks like my family may not be doing any Rosh Hashanah festivities on Monday night, so by my modified-religious views, I may mentally put off the start of the religious part of the holiday until Tuesday morning.  :)

Better than me.  I am not traveling with my prayer book.

Td thanks for the prayer.  I will take it with me.

Rocky is so sweet and I’m glad a good group is taking him.

National Pork month and National Vegetarian month are both in October-interesting.

DRDanise just called and asked me to post her arrival.  She's napping.  DRJose just came, attacked Michael Barnum, and dragged him off.  The lady is a tramp.

I'm working on Miss Uggams' number and we're all hitting Artie's at 5:30 for dinner.

DRs MBarnum & Danise: Welcome to New York! Glad to know you guys made is safely.

DR Elmore: If you're requesting seating for 5-15, would it possible that I could join you guys on Monday night? I've been to Paradise, but I've never been to Barrymore's and I'd love to meet all the NY newbies. :)

I took some allergy medicine before bed and I slept WAY too much. I think I finally woke up around 2:30.

Still no word on Granny. No news is good news...

I'd love to, but I think with Barrymore's on Monday and the tour and Cocina on Weds., I probably should save my money. And rent is due today! Thanks for asking, though...

I'm watching (don't ask why) SOUL TRAIN and one of the girls just took off her jacket to reveal her bra. It's not a sports bra...not a tank top...not a bikini top. It's just a bra. Tacky, tacky, tacky...

Speaking of SOUL TRAIN, you should hear what Miss Uggams does to "Stormy Weather"!  At least she doesn't flash her bra.

Haha! Have you ever seen the video of Ms. Uggams singing "June is Bustin' Out All Over" for some 4th of July celebration in Washington, DC? It's hilarious...

June is bustin' out all over...
the bees flyin round the beezee boo...
with the heebees and the jeebees and the
hizm and the flizm and the bizy bozy flizm flazm
zoom!
BECAUSE IT'S JUNE! JUNE, JUNE, JUNE...
JUST BE-CAUSE IT'S JUNE!!

And as if that weren't embarassing enough, she forgot the words to the second verse, too!! And it's all on tape...

Hahaha!!

Does she at least sing any of Rodgers' notes?  She invents most of the Arlen.

Does she at least sing any of Rodgers' notes?  She invents most of the Arlen.

It vaguely resembled his tune until she held the long notes, at which point her vibrato took over and practically did cadenzas of the operatic sort. But as long as she smiled through the song, no one caught on that she had royally screwed up Hammerstein's lyrics.
