I will be at Artie's in spirit also. We're having dinner with a friend before we go to a show.

Barnum enjoy Pavillion, or Pavilion, I don't know if it's one L or two. See you soon.

I'm glad that everyone (so far) has had good traveling experiences!  Someday (after my credit cards are all paid off), I can join the merriment ... especially if it's happening in New York! ;D

I've been home all day doing not much of anything.  However, I have to shower and shave and go to work for a couple of hours.  Right after that, I go downtown to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts and usher for a concert by the one and only Melissa Manchester!  I can't wait!  I've never seen her perform live and although I don't know all of her songs...or even that many ::), I really like what I do know.  I also have the LA Theatre Works recording of the show that she wrote called I Sent a Letter to My Love.  I'm going to bring it on the off-chance that she'll sign it. ;D

Hi All! Glad Everyone's travel is going well so far.  I'm beginning to wish I had gone earlier, but I have a wedding tonight.  It's at the Orpheum, a great renovated theatre here.  The wedding is in the lobby and the reception on stage. Apparently there is a set designed by some hollywood designers who moved back to South Dakota.  It's formal dress and sounds like a real blow out.

Word today is that the bride may be having cold feet and 2 weeks ago she was talking about keeping her house, just in case....   This could be an interesting evening.

I have a great dress black with beads and sequins I bought for a black tie several years ago....the good news is the dress is now too big....the bad news is..the dress is now too big....Oh well, time to dig a little deeper in the closet.

"I'm going to go home and get your fish out of the toilet." Doesn't get much more ridiculouser than that.

My new favorite saying:  It's not coincidence that the Jewish high holy days and National Pork Month both fall in October this year.  It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

Well one thing I found out while searching for the Trivia Answer (didn't find it yet) is that actor Jason Patric is Jackie Gleason's grandson.

Good Afternoon!

Just back from molesting showing DR MBarnum around Fifth Avenue.  Things Japanese were the topic: Takashimaya and Minamoto Kichoan.  And lots of people watching.

So, now I'm back at here at DR elmore's while DR MBarnum is freshening up, and then we're off to Artie's for dinner.

Celebrated national Pork Month by having Eggs Benedict (with Canadian bacon) plus a side of bacon at the boat basin cafe.  I'm determined not to lose a single pound before meeting all you wonderful people.  :)

Hi, again - back from a long bored board meeting in Columbus.  Two of the women there were staying in Columbus for weddings.  Today is the fullest wedding Saturday this fall in our fair capitol.  Why?  Because it's the only Saturday in September, October, or November that the Ohio State Buckeyes are not playing football.  Not that I care, true Blue Wolvering that I am (UM 34, MSU 31 in overtime  ;D)

I'm glad to hear that DRs MBarnum and Danise arrived safely in the Big Apple.  Have fun tonight, everybody!

So glad that DR MBarnum made it to NYC. I'm sure you'll be well taken care of. I hope you enjoy the city as much as I have on my visits there.

Someone in one of my previous jobs said about a co-worker:  "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw tantrums."

Actually, maybe that's not such a ridiculous saying.  :)

Before I proceeded with the second half of GIANT this afternoon, I watched the collection of famous directors talking about George Stevens which is one of the special features on the first disc of the GIANT set. I quite enjoyed hearing famous men like Fred Zinneman, Frank Capra, and Robert Wise tell their own stories about knowing him and commenting on his films.

Wth everyone coming and going, this weekend, I forgot to talk about Opening Night of MY FAIR LADY.  The show went very well (all things considered).  Higgins had a rather off night, lyrics-wise, but still a pretty good show.  We received a standing ovation, which is rare for that theater, on opening nights.  Still, I doubt I will be offering copies of the DVD (if such a thing existed) to any of my friends.  The SCROOGE DVD (if it existed), was overall a better production.

Then continued watching GIANT and got about 35 minutes into the second side of the disc. COntinues to be a clear transfer, free of obvious artifacts and damage but just that little bit short of razor sharpness due to a lack of anamorphic encoding.

I know James Dean had died at the time of the release of GIANT, but his nomination as Best Actor must have been done as a term of endearment or respect rather than for genuine merit. I don't think it's a great performance (can't compare to EAST OF EDEN or REBEL), and at any rate, it's really a SUPPORTING role.

Still lost on the trivia.  Wondering if the statement "directed by someone who'd done a musical or two" really means they've only done one or two musicals, since I've been assuming up to now that it's ironic.

But this is my post #444 (which is 444 spelled backwards).

Glad all went well.  Ann and I look forward to seeing this production for ourselves... probably next weekend.
