I tried to listen to the new Gypsy album but it's just like every other cast album they do these days - completely DEAD sounding, no air, makes a big orchestra sound like ten, and the actors sound like they're doing a radio show. Cast albums should sound LIVE, you know, like the Goddard Lieberson original album. I just don't get it, frankly. And the changes to the score are HORRIBLE. The overture is mixed so poorly I couldn't believe it. As to the beloved Audra, she is not and has never been my cuppa. I don't care for her voice, it's that simple, and her acting has so much sauce it's like being hit over the head repeatedly with a shovel. I had to stop, finally. It's just awful.

I've thought Audra was miscast from Day One and her singing on the TV ad only convinces me I'm right. I've have no urge to see this - even if I could - and care very little about hearing this recording, much as I love Danny Burstein.

DR Elmore:

Forget the book. This is a madcap chase movie waiting to be made.

And yes, our cats try their damnedest to kill us. Mikey stops short of holding a leg out to trip someone, but he'll probably figure that out one day.

But I shouldn't even post that. For all I know, he can read.

Well, I'd love a movie Annabelle, Stella & Thatch: The Chase Is On! if BK directed it.

Maybe other DRs have a better movie title? Chasing Stella perhaps?

Did DR Laura post about Star Tours? I missed it! It's an amazingly effective ride. Or "attraction", since it doesn't actually go anywhere.

BUT...

My first time (way back in '98), it was early in the day and the lines hadn't formed yet, so we went on it twice. That wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't have asked for a third. Then that evening at Epcot, many hours later, we went on Body Wars, which as you know was the same contraption. Holy moly. After that, I wasn't going on anything but the bus back to the hotel. No, I didn't get sick, but that finished me off but good. Great "rides", though. And I still hate that they closed Body Wars.

I'm thinking... (I know, I shouldn't do that, but)...

If they changed the name of DR Elmore's elevator to "Star Tours" in respect to the cat chases, and the name of Access-a-Ride to "Body Wars"...

Nah. Never mind. I'll show myself out.

Yesterday we drive up to Idyllwild. It's at an elevation of 6,000 feet, and about 40 degrees cooler than Palm Springs. Glad we brought jackets!

Star Tours is a civilian flight. Before we got on our ship, the pilot had to step out so C3PO could make a repair to the binary motivator. The ship takes off before the pilot gets back on, so C3PO is flying. (The old version had Captain Rex.)

As we are ready to take off, we are stopped by the Star Wars Bad Guys, who are looking for a Rebel Spy on board. (While everyone is getting settled in their seats, a photo of someone is taken which is shown as the Rebel Spy.)

C3PO doesn't know how to fly the ship, so wild adventures ensue.

It's a 3D flight simulator, and it really does feel real.

Annabelle is in a mood today. Just now I was washing a pan. Something threw itself at me, sharp claws dug through my pants to my butt, and then a cat climbed up my back. done that in several years.

The reviews are all over the place for Just in Time.

Here's my parody lyric.  I don't know if Jonathan Groff's sweating and spitting has been parodied in song anywhere yet, but it sounds like Mr. Groff has a sense of humor about it.  (Is the sweating and spitting the "Groff sauce" that gets referred to?)

On the reviews of the new Bobby Darin Broadway musical - praising Jonathan Groff's performance as sensational, and the critics AND the show pointedly warning that Mr. Groff spits and perspires a lot, so be aware if you're in the front rows.

Tune of "Mack the Knife" Bobby Darin rendition

Oh, the shark bites / are mis-named, dear,
So the experts / seem to say.
No, the sharks should / not be blamed, dear,
People just get / in their way.

Just like Groff who / seems to sweat, babe
Water sprays from / all his pores.
Sit too close and / you'll get wet, babe
It's not Groff's fault / no, it's yours.

Like sharks looking / for some food, hon.
All they want is / lots of fish.
Groff does not mean / to be rude, hon.
To delight you / is his wish.

Oh, the critics / have such smarts, dear,
And you count  on / what you read.
So you trust them / for fine arts, dear,
Hope they give you / what you need!

So you're on notice / when you go there,
Choosing how you / spend your cash.
Groff, he puts on / quite a show there.
His performance / makes a splash!

Having seen him from the front row when Merrily was running at the New York Theatre Workshop I can confirm a strategic holding up of the playbill became necessary several times

I woke up feeling like death warmed over but was scheduled for the temple talk, so I put on make up and a dress, fixed my hair and then stayed well away from everyone.

The talk seemed to be well received, but I failed in my objective which was to get more volunteers for the altar guild .
