Quite funny to "Google" your own name - especially when you come up with the "Real you".
Found my own on a Petula Clark related site last week.
Long live narcissism.  LOL

LOL, that's a lot better than finding your self on a "Prison Talk" site! That's what happened to me.

Congrats PennyO! Welcome to the clouds.

Well I am back from Miami area (really Coral Gables) where I saw Karen Morrow and Susan Egan. This is the first them both perform live in concert, although I did see Susan Egan in the touof Bye Bye Birdie with Tommy Tune and Anne Reinking in Boston. I drove down from Montreal just to see it. I remember Tommy Tune more than I did her.

But both of them are excellent performers and singers. Karen Morrow can still best them out with the best them. Susan Egan is even better in person. I enjoy listening to all her cd work, but there is something extra about her voice when you hear it live.

After the show she met with the audience and signed autographs. She sold one of her cds (Coffee House) and she sold a lot of them. I asked to take a photo of her and she insisted that we take it together. (We did)

I had her sign her three solo cds and the cast albums Beauty and the Beast and Drat! The Cat. Some wise acre in the crowd said that they were going to be on ebay tonight. She said she didn't mind it and I said that is something I don't so and I keep them for myself.

I also met with Karen Morrow and she signed both version of The Grass Harp for me and I took a solo photo of her.

A most enjoyable evening. I am beginning to enjoy these cabaret nights more than going to see a full length musical.

Next up in two weeks is Miss Liz Callaway. I have seen her about four time in concert and enjoy her singing each and every time.

She will be in Palm Beach at the Colony Hotel.

I forgot to mention that:

Susan Egan came up with one of the funniest "patter" lines I ever heard.

"So here am I doing Disney cartoons and Broadway musicals. My demographics are twelve year old girls and gay men."

A lovely day here in the desert. The high was only a nippy 88F. I opened all the doors and windows and let the fresh air in!

I see that Michael Jackson went to see the musical version of Billy Elliott. He left disappointed. He thought there would be nude scenes.

JMK, if you won and sent me your address, then a prize was sent and is lost in the mail.  I'm quite sick of the USPS, I must say.  And they just don't care.  If you pay the forty cents for delivery confirmation, THEN things get there, but I tend not to do that on the sparkling prizes, which I usually send first class rather than priority - if the package is less than a half-inch, you can't use delivery confirmation.  It's pretty shameful.  So, send the address again and I'll find another sparkling prize.

Good Evening!

Food, glorious food!

Corned Beef, Noodle Kugel, Potato Pancakes, Matzoh Ball Soup, Stuffed Cabbage, Potato Pirogien (fried, of course, with caramelized onions), Cole Slaw, Pickles, Matzoh Brei, Open-Faced Turkey Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables...

Oy!

OH!  - and a Frozen(!) Chocolate Egg Cream.

And that's just what I ordered!

NOT!

Back from Artie's...

Another lively and sparkling time.  Those gathered around the table tonight included DR FJL, Anthony, Jane, elmore, Ben and myself.   Lots of food.  Lots of conversation.  Lots of fun.

-And there was a most adorable four and a half month golden retriever waiting outside the restaurant when we were living.

*Note to self: Next time try the Potato Kugel and/or the Spinach Kugel.

Welcome home, DR Ginny!

*I've stayed at that Residence Inn in Atlanta on tour.  It really is strange that it lacks some now basic amenities.  Especially in Atlanta.

To answer you, and TCB from yesterday:

WSS has come under considerable criticism - more political than artistic.

It has reviled for glamorizing gangs been boycotted as "racist", and there was quite a stink when a school on Amherst MA cancelled a production because its depiction of Puerto Ricans was "offensive". Criticism has also been about its lack of authentic Latino casting. One article notes:der Brucer

Guess you're still looking for a new editor.

Jose I am glad you enjoyed your hostess gift,  were you truly suprised? I was afraid you'd notice all the whispering and scheming in ranks as you led us through the streets.

YES!  I was truly surprised!  And it's VERY hard to surprise me since I tend to be very mother-hen-ish, and I'm always paying attention to what's going on around me.  -A residual side effect from all my years working with kids.  I'm also usually a "planner" when it comes to surprise gifts, parties, etc., and, I have to say, I'm quite good at it.

When I opened the envelope at La Cocina, I thought, "Oh, cool - I really like those vintage musical instrument cards!"  And then I when opened the other envelope inside the envelope... Well... WOW!

Score one for all of you!!

I had a great time touring Larry's neighborhood and dinner at Artie's with the gang.

There is a lady waiting for me to get off the computer which won't give me much time here.

I discovered I have an extra hour in the morning before my flight.  Somehow that coverts to only an extra half hour of sleep.

Have a safe trip tomorrow, Jane.  It was fun to spend time with you last week!

The best news I received at my conference in Atlanta is that it's going back to New York next year.  October 6 & 7, 2006.

I gather all the out-of-towners, except for me, are back home by now.  I have had a great time but look forward to getting home to Keith and the quiet of the country.

I also am looking forward to reading the posts and checking out the photos.  I couldn't keep up while my friend was staying with me.  Friday night, or early Sat. monring I woke up at 2:00 and my friend didn't wake up until 9:00.  That was a long time to stay on the air mattress.  Thank goodness for my book and flashlight.

Thanks, Jose.  The RI did have wireless (well, they SAID they did, but so did the CI and Danise and Priscilla both had trouble with it), but I don't have a laptop.  Guess I'll just have to start asking about the availability of a business center before booking a room from now on.  Or buy an iBook...

I'm glad we were able to surprise you  ;)
