Well, you've read the notes, the notes and you had a meet cute, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're having a meet cute with a push me-pull you.

Giblets = :P

Here are official definitions from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary (including audio examples) for a couple of words that BK asked about very late yesterday:

Zaftig:
Function: adjective
Etymology: Yiddish zaftik juicy, succulent, from zaft juice, sap, from Middle High German saf, saft, from Old High German saf
of a woman : having a full rounded figure : pleasingly plump

Buxom:
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English buxsum, from (assumed) Old English buhsum; akin to Old English bugan to bend
1 obsolete a : OBEDIENT, TRACTABLE b : offering little resistance : FLEXIBLE, PLIANT <wing silently the buxom air -- John Milton>
2 archaic : full of gaiety : BLITHE
3 : vigorously or healthily plump; specifically : full-bosomed
- bux·om·ly adverb
- bux·om·ness noun

I would say in my humble opinion:

Zaftig = Diana Dors

Buxom - June Wilkinson

Well, I screwed up a number for the Arlen concert!  I confidently turned over a number to the copyists and left off the final sung section.  Today we have to deal with my lapse of memory and see what repair damage we can do in the next 4 days, and I hope we can get scores and parts printed for Chicago's Wednesday rehearsal since it will not be fixed in time for Monday.  I'm quite angry at myself over it.

On a happier note, tonight I see DRs Rodzinski, TPunk, Ben and Athony for CAPTAIN LOUIE at the Little Shubert Theatre.  Remember, the show's at 7:00, and I will be there by 6:30 to pick up the tickets.

Meeting cute?  Only happens in mythology.

Hmmmm.....the only "meet cute" that I can think of right now is in THE BIRDS when Rod Taylor pretends to think that Tippi Hedren is a clerk in the pet store.

I also like Robert Wagner and Audrey Dalton in TITANIC 1953....she gets into an elevator upon boarding the ship, Wagner and his group run up and he says:  "I'm the steward assigned to you, miss.  Can I help you with something?  Find a deck chair, draw your bath?"  And she replies crisp as lettuce:  "Shouldn't you be in school somewhere?"

Frances Farmer meeting John Garfield in FLOWING GOLD.  He watches as she tries to get her car out of the mud, falling face first several times.

Farmer:  I suppose you think it's funny!
Garfield: I'm laughing.

Morning folks!

This is the last time I will be able to post on a weekday morning for awhile.  Sob!

I've got more things coming (hopefully) for the CD so it will have to be next week before I burn and and send them out.

That works because today I can go get the mailing sleeves & labels for them, print out the labels and get them ready to go!

I have to go get my after surgery X-ray today.  Ugh.

DR George beat me to it only I would have said:  Giblets = Double  :P  Not in my lifetime.

What I think when I hear:

Zaftig -- a girlfriend I had in college who later became anorexic, women in paintings by Rubens , Shelly Winters, Bette Midler, Mae West, fun and sexy women

Buxom -- Playboy in the 50s and early 60s, Jayne Mansfield, Little Annie Fanny, nurses, burlesque, "Wubba, wubba, wubba, wubba!"

Cillaliz, good luck with stopping smoking.  Your lungs (and those of the people around you) will thank you for it!  I just wish I could get my Mother to do the same.

Ann, Just to the best you can and don't worry about the rest.  That's all any of us can do.

Zaftig--Sorry I don't think I have ever heard the term before.

Buxom --  A woman who has a big chest.

The only Meet Cute that comes to mind right now is Ann Marie meeting Donald Hollinger on That Girl.  They flirt when she sells him a pack of gum, they argue when they both want to buy the same rolltop desk, and he "rescues" her from being kidnapped (she's actually making a commercial.)

As for "meet cute"...

I've actually had a couple of them in New York City over the past couple of months.  :)

-There's nothing like a smart, intelligent, almost-innocent bit of flirting.  ;)

Good morning...

I just got out of bed about 10 minutes ago. My family will be here in 20. :\

TOD:

CD Home: Diana Ross & The Supremes Anthology, Hermann to Hitchcock: Selections of Bernard Hermann's Hitchcock Scores

DVD: "Frenzy"

Someone (I think it was DR George or Matthew) asked what RAGTIME 2 is... It's the London "Concert" Version. It can be, of course, fully staged. Basically they just trimmed the dance breaks and unnecessaries.

And now I'm off to get dressed and have an apple before the folks get here.

Have a nice day, everyone!!

As for zaftig - Emily Skinner - Well, that's the term that the Washington Post and the New York Times have used to describe her during her recent theatrical outings.

As for buxom - Dolly Parton.  -Although, I guess she could also be slightly zaftig.

And then there's rubenesque.

I will be listening to AccuRadio as the day progresses. I will also probably pop the Heather MacRae CD back into my work computer.

As Larry mentioned, we will be seeing Captain Louie tonight. I'm looking forward to it. JRand, it is a new Stephen Schwartz show. Here is a link to Playbill On-Line which will give you more information.

My 45 day free trial of Tivo Plus ran out last weekend, but I immediately signed up for the full service on Monday.  I discovered a couple of neat-o features that I didn't have with the free trial:

Tivo Online Scheduling -- I can search for upcoming shows and tell my Tivo to record them from anywhere I have internet access.  I experimented this week and found I could schedule a show up to 15 minutes before it airs.

Music & Pictures -- because my Tivo is connected to my home network, I can listen to music files and view pictures I have stored on both my home PC and my laptop through my TV set.

TivoToGo -- this is a sort of disappointing feature.  Again, because of my Tivo/network connection, I can upload shows that have been recorded on my Tivo to my PC or laptop and view them through Windows Media Player.  Trouble is, it takes too freaking long to make the transfer.  It's much, much quicker to simply burn a show onto a DVD. Though it would be nice to be able to edit the commercials out of some shows before I burned them to DVD.  Can't have everything, I guess
