My Internet Explorer has been acting up lately, so I'm trying to post this through AOL.  I'll see if it works.

I guess we're considering "Man Bands" to be Boy Bands for the topic of the day, so I'll include:

Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
The Spinners cover of Working My Way Back to You
REO Speedwagon - Can't Fight This Feeling

DR FJL, you've spurred an 80s flashback for me:

Duran Duran
Culture Club
Ah-Ha
Flock of Seagulls
Depeche Mode
Curiosity Killed The Cat
Spandau Ballet
Crowded House
The Knack (a 70s group, technically)
Adam and the Ants
The Cars
The Clash
Devo
Huey Lewis and the News

Good Morning!

I'm up.  I'm up.

...And I think I'm just going to stay put here in Fairfax today, instead of heading down to Richmond for the day.  There are a couple of things I need to take care of today, and I'm just not in the mood to spend four hours (round trip) in a car today.  (Even though I've done that before.)  We'll see.

In any case...

As for the Topic of the Day...

DITTO

;)

Besides the ones already mentioned, Rockapella comes to mind too.  And when I'm in the right mood/mode, N*Sync and The Backstreet Boys can provide a nice pick-me-up.  -But O-Town - the group from "Making the Band" - is always good for a good laugh.

TD those were beautifdul readings.... I wonder if a certain songwriter who is known for ALWAYS writing both the lyrics and music could be prevailed upon to write just the music this once.......

Good morning!

ANother in the long string of fantabulous days here in Carolina. And again it's going up to the low 80s in a few days.

An article in today's paper commented that this isn't the first time this has happened. 2002 had a similar lengthy string of warmer than normal days without rain.

(Our last rain was October 11, and it only briefly drizzled then.)

Did anybody tape or DVR  last night's West Wing?  I completely forgot about it.  I can't get my brain to remember its on Sunday instead of Thursday this year!

I would be very grateful for a copy of last night's debate if anyone would care to send it to me

I'm sure you mean "instead of Wedfnesday this year."

THE WEST WING has never been on Thursday.

No, sorry I can't help. I didn't DVR it.

Have such a long string of TV shows and movies on the DVR.

I know I'll start with DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES when I get in from lunch today, but as for the rest, I hardly know where to start.

I don't really know from boy's groups. I loved the Monkees. I guess I sort of dig Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The Temptations, mayhap.

DR Elmore: Sorry to hear you won't be at Carnegie tonight. I'll be there with a couple of Richard Jay Alexander's comps. :)

My upper lip is swollen to about three times its normal size today. I have a fever blister/cold sore/whatever the heck you wanna call it. I usually get them after I've been sick or really stressed out. Mom and Dad left a week ago tomorrow. Guess it was stress. :) Anyway, I look like I could do PHANTOM this afternoon sans the makeup, unfortunately, and I had forgotten how bloody painful these suckers can be. I got some stuff to put on it last night, but it's a thick brown goo that dried up overnight, giving me a Gorbachev-like gravy stain look on my upper lip. I spent a good 15 minutes cleaning it off this morning, so now I just look like I've been in a fight rather than looking like I've hit the mashed potatoes and gravy.
