Well, you've read the notes, you've tunneled through the notes, and now you simply must post until the cows come home - they're in the tunnel now, but they're always in the tunnel because they've got Cowpel Tunnel Syndrome. ::)

I like A Very Special Love by the Ames Brothers.  I love El Matador by the Kingston Trio.  I love 26 Miles by The Four Preps.  I love Up on the Roof by the Drifters.  I love Ferry Cross The Mersey by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Don't think of Gerry & the Pacemakers as a boyband.
Same with Freddie, Herman, The Beatles and the Stones..

The Hollies were good:

And that leads me to:

Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young).

Beach Boys.

Oh so many!

As previously named:

The Brothers Four - their FIRST album is a favorite, including Banua, I Never Will Marry, and Zulu Warrior

The Four Aces - especially their movie themes Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, Three Coins in the Fountain

Four Preps - 26 Miles, another vote for that one!

Chairmen of the Board - who sang two terrific Holland-Dozier-Holland tunes: Give Me Just a Little More Time and You've Got Me Dangling On A String!

Well being a child of the 60's & 70's (the NINETEEN 60's & 70's for the benefit of you younguns amongst us)  the Osmonds and Jackson Five were favoritesof mine when I was grwoing up.

Donny and I are the same age

<sigh>

Oh and of  course the Monkees were mandatory for my age group

does Bread count asa boy group or were they already "men"?

The TOD IS when we were growing up.... not at this time isn't it?

Toomovoz, I quite understand about the "listening" part of your telephone call.

I have, on occasion, done considerable listening on the phone.

Do The Cowsills count as a boy band?

They started out that way, but their mother and younger sister joined them for a while.

They seemed a bit edgy for their time.  In fact, the boys were apparently not interested in maintaining a squeaky clean image and their label (MGM) wasn't happy about that.  They still exist, believe it or not, although one of the men has been missing since Hurricane Katrina and none of the family have heard from him.

There were a few Jackson 5 songs I enjoyed in the early 70s.

I remember seeing the Osmonds on TV in the late 60s or early 70s and they seemed cool. I think when Donny became a front-and-center fixture, I stopped taking them seriously.  I don't know why.

Ivan the Terrible is an endocentric construction.

So is William the Conqueror and the Eiffel Tower.

Come to think of it, the Hoover Dam makes the grade, too.

I'm up because...well...same old, same old.

I'm making iced tea, that's why.  And the tea bags are steeping in hot water as I type.

I suppose I should be standing over them enjoying the benefits of the steam, but I'd much rather be miserable here typing these words for an elusive, absent readership.

This will be an unbearably short work-week (endocentric, that construction) for me, as I am off today and Friday (Friday being Veterans Day) (well bust my buttons, ANOTHER endocentric construction).

Somehow, I shall strive to endure it.

I'ts nearly time to finish off the iced tea and reconsider my sleeping options.

Do I go back to bed, or do I stay up, putter around as the sun comes up, and think about a nap later in the day.

How on earth do self-employed, retired or otherwise free-from-all-cares people handle such decisions when they have limitless variables to choose from?

My mom prefers a structured regimen.  I, on the other hand, have always had a streak of night owl in me, and can stay up until all hours.  I rather think I'll be all over the place in my dotage, in that regard.

The iced tea is made (well, it doesn't have ice in it, but it's in the refrigerator).

All anxieties concerned with it are put to rest until it's all gone and I have to do it again.

I suppose that's why some folks just buy a jar of Nestea or its equivalent.

It's clear to me now that a few more winks will be best for me.  I've taken some sinus relief tabs and my eyelids are begging -- nay, screaming -- to be closed.

Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy, healthy Monday.   Be kind to one another out there.

Make a new friend, heal an old wound, kick an old bastard or bitch.

You know...run the gamut.

And not just A-B.

Good morning, Ron!

I left for Chicago the day after the time changed, I'm now back in my one time zone, and I don't know what time it is!  I could not get to sleep last night, and I was up way too late.  I dragged myself out of bed because I have too much to do today:  hit the post office, pick up new glasses, a 10 am meeting about orchestrations for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus Holiday concert at Carnegie Hall next month, refill two prescriptions, and pick up some concert work for a singer named Mario Frangoulis.  The deadline on the Frangoulis work is so close that I turned down a ticket from Liz Callaway for Leah Salonga's Carnegie Hall concert tonight and my monthly dinner tomorrow night with my music librarian friends.

Mornin', y'all!

Ugh!  I think I'm coming down with something.  I'll have to down some Airborne throughout the day.  I don't know if this stuff actually works or not, but I get a kick out of dropping the little tablets into a cup of water and watching them fizz.  Reminds me of Fizzies from the hood of my child.

TOD:

Whenever I hear the words "boy group" I tend to think of cheesy, bubblegum music, so nothing is immediately coming to mind.  I kind of confuzed by some of the choices people are making--a lot of these bands are out of the age range I would consider as boys.  What's the criteria for a boy group?

DR MB, I happened to catch some of THE GREEN SLIME on Friday when I got home.  I wish I knew it was coming on--I would have recorded it.  Awful, awful movie but one of my childhood favorites--I actually saw it in a movie theatre (Yes, one must view it on the big screen in order to fully appreciate its grandeur . ::) )

THE GREEN SLIME was featured on one of my favorite covers of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine.  I wonder if I still have that issue...
