Plumber is here, plumbing.  I'm here, being his drowsy chaperone.

Glenn Erickson (DVD Savant) has been far too wacky lately to take seriously.  He recently argued the subtext and brilliance of The Son of Kong in a way that would make you think he was talking about Citizen Kane.

Now, might I ask where in tarnation IS everyone.  Tis the season to be jolly, not errant and truant.

I do hope your cholesterol levels stay at safe levels, DR JMK.

And those still dealing with colds, coughs, and flu, best wishes for a speedy recovery as well.

Just took a peep at the Golden Globe nominations - they are the usual - whichever and whoever has courted them is up.   How else do you account for the fact that The History of Violence is up for Best Drama, yet its director is not up for Best Director.  How else do you account for Spielberg being up for best director but his film, Munich, not being up for best drama?  Woody, as I completely expected, is up for everything because for the first time in his career he is courting the press like crazy.

On another note (C#), the movie people have once again taken over my street - I'm sure it's the same yokel up the street renting his house out to whomever he can.  They are, as you would imagine, loud, and annoying.

On another note (Db), there is some truck directly in front of my house, hammering nails into the electrical post out front - some "communications" company from Upland - I wonder what that's about?

JMK, you might also try snacking on almonds. My doctor recommended that I eat them to bring my cholesterol down....and by golly my cholesterol went down!

Thus far the Kritzerland sales spike is one order.  Better than none, baby.

And where are FJL, and Ben, and Vixmom, and Ginny, and Cillaliz, and WFO, and WEL, and and and...

Hammering men are gone, and more interestingly, film people are gone.  They must have had a very short shoot and started at seven or something.

Which is odd because they had the No Parking signs from six am to ten pm.  Maybe they're coming back, but it doesn't look like it.

Plumber is under the house, doing something or other.  He's actually more of a handyman than a plumber, so he'll also be looking at the chimney in the den.  The Chimney In The Den - that's the title of my next novel.

I feel like I've been up for a 'coon's age, and yet it is only nine-thirty.

Sometimes I feel like a motherless child, but that's another story.

Here is the link for the nominations.  Just click on the right (nominations) button:

http://www.thegoldenglobes.com/

I have not seen any of the nominated movies.

But I was interested to see what was nominated for tv.

For best drama: commander in chief, grey's anatomy, lost, prison break, and rome.

Ah and all 4 DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES women were nominated this year!

DR RLP - how was the partay?

It was yummily yummilicious.  Tons of great food and good cheer.  I was almost instantly filled up despite the fact that I'd not had any of the "room full" of desserts.  I had a small sliver of my cheesecake and pie and they were "very good things."

When I went to claim my dishes/serving pieces, my foods were mostly gone.  A few servings of one of the souffles were left, along with a quarter of the cheesecake and one whole coconut pie.  As I said, there was a room full of desserts.

I claimed my pie and have put it in my freezer.

I've also cleared my calendar of the "want-to-do" things except one.  I am going to see "Brokeback Mountain" at noon pst today.

I feel better than I did yesterday, and I'm more relaxed.

It's amazing how stress can creep up on you when you aren't even aware it's happening.

Plumber has left the premises, but will be back around six to repair the broken drain - apparently I don't need to be here for that, which is good, since I won't.

He checked the chimney and says nothing seems to be wrong with it, so I may try lighting another log today to see what happens.  Maybe I didn't have the flue open all the way when I attempted it last year.

I'm still coughing like crazy, and there is still all this guck breaking up and I'm SICK OF IT!

Other than that, I feel hunky dory and also dory hunky.  The skies are bluer than blue and I am not.

We have now had two Kritzerland orders, which is better than 0 baby.  No Rewind orders, not even from those hainsies/kimlets who, for all these years, have professed to want a book with this subject matter, and yet haven't wanted to read the book - I find that a fascinating conundrum.

Toy-wise, I'd have to say that I really cleaned up the one year when I got the GI Joe Mercury Spacecraft Capsule

the Remco LOST IN SPACE Robot

and all three Kenner Zeroid Robots.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers.

TOD: I got a Say-It Play-It tape recorder that I so wanted. One year I got BOTH Skipper AND Scooter -- some relation to Barbie.

Tuesday greetings!

TOD - The Christmas right after my 12th birthday, my parents gave me a set of World Book encyclopedias, which I used throughout junior high, high school, college, graduate school, and adulthood until, in 1994, we traded my set in on a new set when Rob was in elementary school.  It resides on a shelf adjacent to our family dining table and has answered many mealtime questions.
