Yes, I noticed that the four leading ladies of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES were nominated this year, but Nicolette Sheridan, who got a supporting nomination last year, was not nominated this year.

Someone forwarded me a link where a guy who once sat in on drums with my band actually writes about me and my band on a music website. So that's kinda neat.

DR GINNY - we also grew up with the World Book which I thought had great pictures.  We had the Encyclopoedia Britannica as well which I loved for all of it's great HISTORICAL data.  And of course Lucille Ball hawked the EB in different magazines!

And, in one of my misguided work-from-home experiments during DS Rob's childhood, I hawked World Book.  What I learned was that I'm not cut out for a career in sales.

Enjoyed the article DR Rodzinski! I imagine some of your stories were quite inventive! LOL!

And I am still awaiting the reunion tour of your group (or at least a recording of you singing a Toto song)

A Toto song!  Would that be something by Bach?
(I know).

Headed down a bit earlier than usual to get the living room cleaned and then to settle in with some more DVDs before BONES and HOUSE come on tonight.

I guess liking Toto Recordings, America's "Tin Man" and Elton's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" says something about having the tastes of a regular friend of Dorothy. Wicked. I also like The Seekers singing "Emerald City" (Beethoven was kind enough to supply the music for that one)

HaHa. Well, we never added Toto to the repertoire. Mostly, we stick to some of the less commonly heard (as in, not played to death) of the 70s.

I do a mean "Have You Never Been Mellow" by your country-woman ONJ, Tomovoz. There was a Little River Band song in the mix for awhile.

MBarnum, we've been rehearsing, so we're bound to play again sometime before 2007.

If anyone feels like sending me low cholesterol vibes, that would be great.  About three years ago we discovered in a routine blood test that my cholesterol and triglyceride levels were at the "you should have been dead by now" stage.  But the good news is I brought them down dramatically through completely natural means (my brother-in-law was a VP at both Glaxo and Pfizer and told me to avoid the prescription cholesterol drugs if I could, since I'm still relatively young and they have long-term side effects).  But the bad news is I probably got a little lax and stopped taking some of the natural supplements and also occasionally started having "real" cheese again, and last week discovered my cholesterol was way up again.  The weird thing is my triglycerides were lower than they've ever been, which indicates that I'm at least not intaking much fat (I have enough already, LOL).  So I'm back on the plant sterol/red yeast rice regimen and have sworn off any "real" dairy for at least a few months.

Wasn't that an extremely fascinating health report?  Yes, I knew you'd think so.   ::)

Vixdad was able to dramatically reduce his count by taking fish oil caplets.  He takes a few every day I don"t know the details but I'll try and get them for you.

TOD, Bryan who arrived on the 23rd.  We went home together on Christmas morning.

We gave my cousin a Robby the Robot.  Before my mother wrapped him we had a grand time playing with him.  I remember him well and yet my cousin has no recollection of him.

Bonanza day for DVDs - got The Five Pennies (which I'm watching), and also five Dietrich films from Universal France - four of them directed by von Sternberg - Devil Is A Woman, Morocco, Dishonored, and Blonde Venus (my fave).  Also, Billy Wilder's A Foreign Affair.  What is annoying about amazon France is that they didn't have Shanghai Express, so I have to order that elsewhere - most annoying.

Also picked up March of the Penguins, which I'm looking forward to, and Volume 3 of the Harold Lloyd collection - now I have to find volumes one and two equally cheap.

PennyO ... when you organize getting  BK to come out to Hawaii for a couple of weeks to run "What If', be reminded that  I am fairly sure he will require my services as his assistant , please make sure my salary and transporatation costs from the Island of Long are included in your budget!

Well Rodzinski, if I ever remember to copy that CD of Liz Damon's Orient Express then you can add 1900 YESTERDAYS to the bands list!

And if I happen to make it to NJ next summer for the big ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE cast reunion then maybe I will pop on down to your side of town and see you guys play...you should have had plenty of time to practice by then.

Ginny, sweet, memorable and very strange.  I was wakened in the morning by a woman vacuuming next to my bed.  When I looked up, with I’m sure a rather dazed expression, she wished me a Merry Christmas.  I was in shock to discover it was Christmas morning.

Oh and BK

This may be the cause of your chimney issues::

The Chimney Song

there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all night long.
well i waited up for santa all xmas night
but he never came and it don't seem right.
and there's something in the chimney
and it doesn't make a sound
but i wish you merry xmas.
there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all week long.
well the dog keeps barking up the chimney flue
and we don't know what we're gonna do.
cos there's something in the chimney
and it doesn't move around
and it's been a week since xmas.
there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all month long.
well it's jammed up tight above the fireplace
now the house smells funny such a big disgrace.
that there's something in the chimney
and it doesn't talk at all
and it's been there since last xmas.
there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all year long.
i'll been waiting up for santa like i did last year
but my brother says he's already here...
and he's stuck up in the chimney
and he doesn't say a word
and he'll be there every xmas.
and we'll have him every xmas.

Yesterday turned out to be quite a nice all around.  I let myself sleep in a little bit, then got up and out of bed and had my breakfast.  Did some cleaning.  Just took my time.  I didn't end up leaving for Richmond until around 12:30, but I was glad I got all the stuff I got done done in the morning before I left.  -Alas, I spent a bit of time taking care of some bills...UGH!!  -But at least one of those "bills" now makes me an official member of Local 802 (New Yrk City) of the American Federation of Musicians!

The drive down to Richmond was uneventful, and my time in Richmond was quite eventful.  Well, at least I ended up spending a good chunk of money.  ;)  I made my usual rounds up and down Carytown, and ended up finding some Opening Night gifts, Christmas cards, Christmas gifts, and even a little something for myself - a reproduction of a French liqueur ad.  -And I even had a discount coupon for it!

OH!  And I even found my "tacky" ornament for this year - an angel nightlight that has a "lava" body with glitter in it.  Quite stunning!

After decreasing the amount of money in my bank account, I headed over to hang out with my friend, Mike, for a while.  -And his two cats.  Mike even cooked dinner - double-cut pork chops, pan-roasted potatoes, and roasted peppers and zucchini.  Quite yummy.  It was nice to get to spend time with him.  One of his best friends died unexpectedly last week, and it was just nice to be there to keep him company.  -Mike works overnight shifts usually, so his circle of friends isn't usually available when he's free.

...And the drive back up to Fairfax was nice and easy too.  -And I managed to pull some stuff from my storage unit too.  Of course, two things I meant to pull, I forgot to pull, so... next time....  Ah, well...
