I have this uneasy feeling that the union did actually "win" by going on strike even briefly.  Despite the fines, it seems they're getting concessions that they never would have gotten without striking.

I'm being confined to this room for the moment while Skip wraps my presents.  He thinks there have to be eight presents because of the eights days of Hannukah.  I guess I could tell him that's not necessary, but why argue?  :)

I slaved over two pots of spaghetti sauce most of the morning.  I was cooking for up to 10 people...and so I made a double batch of my sauce.

It's now "resting" in the refrigerator.

One of my cousins and his wife are across the street at my aunt's...and my mom and I are about to walk over there and wish them happy holiday greetings.  They are going to New York City on Christmas Day for fun and merriment.

He says one of my presents has to be put in the fridge.  So will he put it in there with the gift-wrapping or without the wrapping?

Another cousin and his wife will be at my aunt's tonight for supper, and my mom and I will be joining them for that meal.

Tomorrow night I'll be eating at another cousin's house (spaghetti night) along with my mom, my aunt and uncle, and a first cousin once removed and her husband.  My cousin's husband, her daughter and boyfriend, and her son and girlfriend will all be there, too.  At least.

There will be enough sauce for about 18 servings.  So...

The spaghetti sauce sounds delicious, DR RLP.  I love spaghetti, but alas it is forbidden as I lose these last 15 pounds.

Bruce:  Honestly, I have been away for 8 days and have only posted here.  But I've been reading FSM Messageboard and all the hoo-haw over the "Anonie-Mouse" issue.  It's really quite hysterical in many senses of the word.

And seemingly sane folks have apparently been blind to that individual's manipulations, machinations (and not to mention insinuations any time someone challenged his idiosyncratic ways).

I was doing my best to play nice with him when I couldn't totally avoid him...but...oh, well.

I know what you mean DR Vixmom about wrapping presents. I do like wrapping them.  But this year I had to do my own, all my sister's gifts, and all my mom's gifts. That is a lot of gifts!

I like Target....I like K-Mart....I like Walmart!!

Our K-Mart used to be a dump, but about 7 or 8 years ago it was completely remodeled and looks fabulous and clean and I have found some of the most unusual DVDs there, so no K-Mart is my friend.

I was thrilled when the Super Walmart opened close to downtown because the other two Salem Walmarts were way out south or way out north...this new one is a quick drive and I can get my groceries and other items all in one place...and right now they have the coolest, retro-1950s Christmas ceramics in stock (cookie jars, plates, coffee mugs, salt/pepper shakers, snack trays, etc.)....in fact I just now returned from there!

And of course Target is always fun to look through.
