And there was a pointless live-action THUNDERBIRDS movie last year with Bill Paxton. Whose idea was that?

Thanks, DRs Vixmom, RP & Rodzinski... I thought those puppets looked awfully familiar - TEAM AMERICA.

How funny to look back at what we used to consider good TV and what they NOW consider good TV. I'll take TV of the 60's & 70's over today ANY TIME!

I'm reading a good book called HOLLYWOOD TALKS TURKEY, about notorious film flops. I like it because it is strictly anecdotes and oral histories by actors, producers, writers. People just talking about their worst movies, rather than some critics just ripping stuff apart.

Great Lucille Ball anecdotes by the gal who played Vera Gooch in MAME.

Agnes Gooch.  Vera is Bea Arthur's character.

I woke up with a miserable cold.  I took some cold medicine which has effectively stopped the sneezing and coughing and allowed me to breathe freely.... but all I want do is go back to bed.  :P

I suppose they would frown on using a sick day on the second day of the year, especially since I am coming off a vacation. :-\

I hope not... I called out sick today.  On my way home last night, my upset stomach turned into a fever with chills.  I felt a lot better upon waking this morning, but didn't think it was a good idea to spend the day interacting with kids.  I called out, went back to bed and slept until noon.  I think I'll be in much better shape to go to work tomorrow.

It is a pretty funny book.
You really learn how lucky a thing it can be to have a movie turn out well.

I am interested now in researching a studio called Enterprise that went broke making the movie THE ARCH OF TRIUMPH.

TPunk: I'm sorry you're feeling poorly. I'm sorry any of us is. I felt pretty crappy yesterday. I actually went to bed at 9:00, if you can believe it!!

I feel better today, but not 100% yet. I guess it's just that time of year....?

Rodzinski: How ironic - they were defeated by a movie about a symbol of triumph!

Yes Enterprise thought they were on the cutting edge of production - hiring a BIG writer and a couple of BIG stars....  Unfortunately they produced a movie NO ONE was interested in seeing.

I liked that HOLLYWOOD TALKS TURKEY book, too.  Mine is the paperback with Lucy & Desi on the cover in a scene from...FOREVER, DARLING...

Jason, I don't know if you have the January schedule for Chelsea Cinemas. We  can't go tomorrow. We have a friend in from Tucson and we're meeting him for dinner but click here

Where Dreams Come True

for the January Schedule. Nothing is up yet for February.

Blatant self-promotion department:  If anyone is interested, I have uploaded my black-humor murder mystery short story "The Eleventh Commandment" to NPR's Gather community:

Betsy gave me something similar for Channukah--Never Coming to a Theater Near You, reviews by Kenneth Turan of lesser-known films.  (supposedly, although a lot of them I've seen)

Spent a great afternoon with THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, and magnificent they were/are. The 2002 DVD is OK in terms of quality. The sharpness is fine but the color is a bit dull (De Luxe was used). The titles are full of debris and garbage, but things clear up nicely once the feature begins. I only notioced a few speckles here and there throughout the film.

The sound has been repurposed 5.1, and it's OK but nothing stupendous. Hard to bring those mono soundtracks up to REAl 5.1.

I really like the movie very much, but I can't see springing for another one. I've watched this one now twice, and that's just not enough to warrant another purchase.

Wednesday greetings!  This being back at work is interferring with my lifestyle ;)!  Of course, it's also supporting my lifestyle, so here I am!

Sorry so many DR's are under the weather.  The grantseeker who had made an appointment to come in last night called and cancelled because she's had a stomach flu since New Year's Eve.

On the other hand, one of my co-workers is back today after being off a month with a fractured foot (fell on ice).  He's using a walker, so I told him he should see The Producers.  He's actually glad to be back around people.

Didn't mean to leave DRs Ron Pulliam, Vixmom, and TPunk out of my good wishes for speedy recoveries.

And anyone else "feeling poorly" (a Prissy reference).

Hello all, good health vibes to everyone.   I came home from work this morning and slept for 4 hours.  I got up and had some home made chicken vegetable soup. I feel better but not quite there yet. I've very glad I decided to come home. I think I may be able to nip this in the bud

Got one of my packages today - a UK DVD of Our Man In Havana with Mr. Alec Guiness.

Haven't seen it since it came out.

Ate some luncheon - light, but not very interesting.

I also watched last night's HOUSE. It's a rerun I remembered. Always liked actor Ron Livingston, and I liked this episode. The fact that he had a doctor as skilled as he is to counter al pf his quips and putdowns made for an entertaining hour.
