Well, DR Kerry was exactly right....I love good mystery stories and fictional sleuths.

Probably Poirot first, then Miss Marple. And also in the book category, a most interesting twist on the "who-dunnit" type of book came out a few years back. It was a series of books with titles like "Gold," "Scarlet," or stuff like that. The main sleuth was a gay hairdresser in the Boston area named Stan something, and he always ended up kind of assisting a slightly gruff and apparently handsome police detective. I'm sure a bunch of sharp readers on this site can name the author and the correct titles.

And I like Nick & Nora, and the recent incarnation of Nero Wolfe on made-for-TV films.

You do have to be firm with the people at the Milford. They have some rooms on each floor that are microscopic, and they try to put newcomers, who don't any better, into them. If you get put in one of those rooms, you just go back and tell them that it is unacceptable, and if they say that is all they have left, tell them they either find out a larger room or you demand a discount on the room rate. The regular rooms at the Milford are very nice.

Oh, and I must agree with the honorable Jrand, that one of the all-time most complex and fascinating "mysteries" of all time is "Atlas Shrugged." I know, it is lots of philosophy and social comment, but there is a huge dose of mystery-soving in there as well.

Seriously, I don't understand why people think Emily should stay in the 30s, 40's, 50's or even 60's. She's hale and hardy, and it will cost her roughly $100 per night more to stay a stone's throw away from Broadway Theatres.

You know why I don't ask if dogs bite? Because, when owners say they don't bite, and have never bitten anyone, that's when they invariably bite me.

I watched some of those THIN MAN TV shows (I imagine they were in syndication; I don't think I would have seen them in first run though I was around certainly in 1957-58). I liked them, too, but my memories are so sketchy. I'd like to see them again.

I loved The Thin Man on TV, mainly because of the divoon Phyllis Kirk. I also enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. North, with Richard Denning and Barbara Britton. Also liked Boston Blackie when I was REALLY young.

LOL.....I have one and one only episode of Phyllis and Peter and Asta. It is not one of the ones I remember best - and I have noticed of late that Phyllis is wearing a Helen Rose jumper that Sandra Dee wore a few years earlier in THE RELUCTANT DEBUTANTE!

I want more THIN MAN episodes!

Today's topics: I tend to prefer British TV detectives such as Dalziel & Pasco, McCallum, Hamish Macbeth etc. Did however quite enjoy the "Nero" series - mostly because of the design and the guest stars - many from Broadway.

Sorry, but there was no John Ericson in the photo or believe me I would have printed it! He was FINE!

David Wayne was in the photograph with Jim Hutton for ELLERY QUEEN but I cropped him out. Just not quite the same feeling as with John Ericson.

I love Kinsey Millhone in Sue Grafton's alphabet series. Have black dress, will travel. M IS FOR MALICE was my absolute favorite of the series thus far. I was crying at the end of it.

That said, it's clear that BK has somehow mucked-up the process, and managed to to get our heart rates a'bubbling by the ommision of one of entertainment's finest sleuths: Mr. "Magnum PI." Tisk, tisk, Senor Kimmel... how could you have done THAT??!!?? Honestly. With or without famed facial hair, now see if Mr. Selleck will ever grace your virtual portals.

On a serious note: run, children, run to the www on your homepage, and check-out "On The Avenue" in NYC. A faboo boutique hotel in the 70's off Broadway. Deals a plenty for this venue on hotels.com. Rich earth tones, fresh decor, entertainment centers, and big, comfy beds.

Actually, most of it centers around the fact that there are not enough gay and lesbian characters who are portrayed favourable (See the big sleep with Joe Cairo).

So we also read lesbian detective fiction.
