Actually Noel, all things considered the trip is going to cost me $298 CDN (about $230 US) for transport and 2 nights stay at a hotel.  Which isn't that bad.  God bless Mcgill! :)

Hmm... they said it was near Times Square and the map showed it to be about two blocks east of it.  Hmmm....

I concur with the "mini unseemly journal" idea that ladodgerjon (Welcome to BK's Lair!!!) suggested he could easily write!

I suspect we'd read about more "do-for-me, buy-for-me, lift-me, carry-me" incidents between him and BK if such a journal were to be posted each day! (And Yes, that was most definitely an FG reference!).

I forgot about Paul Pine, Pogue.  Love John Evans/Howard Browne.  Also, I'm not at home to remember the names, but the professional detective and his amateur sidekick are really fun in my pal Dick Lochte's book Sleeping Dog and its sequel.

Hello fellow DR's, how were your days? Mine was alright...didn't do much...got to read Macbeth in English for a bit, and GUESS who I was cast as, Miss Maya? ;)

I don't know WHAT Jose is talking about. It's freezing in Virginia. I wore my big poofy winter coat all day, as the temperature outside was equal to the temperature inside.

I was going to say Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes, and obviously you beat me to it. So I am smiling and nodding in agreement.

Let it be known that I drive for an HOUR today and didn't kill anyone/put lives in danger/make my mom mad/make my passengers mad/have a nervous breakdown. That is so cool. 33 hours to go! (I have to get 40 hours in before i can get my license, 20 of which have to be nighttime.)

I reaaaaally want to go to Iceland. A huge resounding "ICELAND!!!" was sung out when I read that Emily. Iceland, Iceland, Iceland. Let's go.

And sorry I missed chat last night, my computer won't let me on chat. I open the chat page, and all of the links around the "chat box" are blank, with the red X's in them, and the "chat box" has a white square with a triangle, circle, and square in it. I tried, I really did, but it didn't work. Ah, there's always next week, I hope.

Well, Emily, I guess you can get away with sayiing that your hotel is near Times Square.  I guess I didn't realize that you were going to New York for New Year's Eve.  If I had, I would have suggested the Holiday Inn on Route 3 in New Jersey.

Welcome ladodgerjon and thanks for all the laughs I have had today since you joined our happy group.  :)

All went well at the bank.  We had to open a new checking account as a hold was put on the money in the old account.  Eventually we shall have our money returned and all will be well.  We do not expect to use the debit card again except for ATM withdrawals.  At least with a credit card you don’t have to pay the bill, and then get reimbursed.

Oh my - on TRIO this evening I just saw an episode of QUEEN FOR A DAY from the famous Hollywood Moulin Rouge.  And those of us who thought it came from that famous Hotel, can rest assured that our memories were not completely faulty....lovely Jeanne Cagney's wardrobe came from a designer whose home base was.....Hollywood's own Roosevelt Hotel!

Glad you got to watch Queen For A Day.  When I lived in Hollywood, it was not far north of Sunset & Vine (...it's Music City, Sunset & Vine...) and always wanted to go to see QFAD in person.  I didn't get to, but it was at that same theatre (renamed the Aquarius) that I saw my very first live, on-stage dangling participle on a male cast member in "Hair."  It was pretty daring stuff for its time!

Unfortunately, I looked closer, and it was no big deal.

The price is very good for hotel and bus (since I think the bus costs about $115Cdn and the hotel would cost at least 100Cdn a night, which is VERY generous).

But remember theatre tickets might add a lot to the mix.  Even if you have discounts (make sure you take PBOL ...).
