OUR HUNGRY MAWS
« on: February 08, 2006, 12:11:20 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, you've realized that "maws" spelled backwards is "swam" and, having that important information you are now ready to post until the cows come home - they're currently filling their hungry maws with new-mown hay, whatever the HELL that is.

Godd morning.  Well it probably would be a good morning if I hadn't woken up with an aching back and a cold.

Ah well, it could be worse.

Good morning, all!  I'm stuck here all morning dealing with IRS for my accountant tomorrow.  I'm off to the NYPL at noon for another look at the BABES IN TOYLAND scrapbooks, and then back here for another talley.

At some point today, I'm getting a chart eo work on for Noah Racey, and I've got some music to photocopy for Karen Ziemba.  For now, it's death and taxes.

Anyone remember Victoria Mallory?  She's the first singer to record "I Remember," as I recall.

I meant to mention this the other day when I found out cause I know some people here liked BOOK OF DANIEL.  Apparently they are playing the last episodes online at nbc.com.  Very odd to me.

I remember Victoria Mallory. Was the I Remember recording from the Sondheim Tribute Album?

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC was the third cast album I owned when I was a teen and I instantly fell in love with Victoria Mallory's voice.  I was delighted to hear more of her on the Sondheim Scrabble album.  I even folowed her for a time when she was on RYAN'S HOPE.  But aside from a few ST. Patrick's Day episodes of the soap and the inclusion of "One More Kiss" on the FOLLIES CD, I don't believe I ever heard her sing again.

Yep!

DR Dan-t-M, did you watch BLEAK HOUSE on Sunday evening?  It's seems to be low on the priority list of the Constant Viewers.

I recorded it.  I had planned on watching it last night but I conked out on the sofa after SCRUBS and didn't get to it.  I will be watching it tonight.

I am also scouting eBay for the 80s BLEAK HOUSE with Diana Rigg.  I'd like to see that one after this current presentation has run.

It's on DVD now as a part of a BBC-Dickens set.  I have it but haven't watched it yet.

Hmmm.....other WB Soundtrack albums I remember:  PARRISH, THE MUSIC MAN, GYPSY, HARLOW (CAROL LYNLEY-NELSON RIDDLE VERSION), 77 SUNSET STRIP.

DR RODZINSKI mentioned ROME ADVENTURE, and I would guess that A SUMMER PLACE had a release...maybe not.

Who is your favorite NEGLECTED film composer of the 1950's?

Hugo Friedhofer.....Ronald Stein are a couple of my favorites.

Good morning!

Another beautiful clear day but cold again and not expected to warm up for awhile. That's fine. It should be this way in February. I just hope my body doesn't start rebelling about these extreme changes in temperature.

I knew Tre remaining episodes of THE BOOK OF DANIEL were being broadcast at NBC.com, but since I don't have a broadband connection, they are off limited to me. I'll have to wait and hope that a DVD set will be forthcoming.

I wish HBO or Showtime had taken the show on from the beginning instead of NBC. Ah, well, such is life.

Beisdes GYPSY and THE MUSIC MAN, my favorite Warner Bros. soundtrack LP was INSIDE DAISY CLOVER. Jackie Ward's renditions of "You're Gonna Hear from Me" and "The Circus is a Wacky World" are grandly appealing, and the underscore is very unsettling and wonderful.

I wish this movie were one being readied for DVD release. For now, I have to be content with the laserdisc.

Looking forward to seeing new episodes of LOST, INVASION, VERONICA MARS, BONES, and LAW & ORDER tonight.

And at last the decent singers will be having the first round of eliminations in Hollywood for AMERICAN IDOL, so I'll start watching that tonight.
