...And dinner at John's Pizza was good too.  However, since John's is housed in an old church... an old, drafty church...  But the food was good, and the chill in the air did not chill the food.  -And we both had pasta tonight - which I think is the first time I've not had pizza at John's.  Good pasta.

Well, I just put all of my musicals on CD in alphabetical order.  It took me about three hours!  I have 14 shelves with approximately 2" 9' of CDs on each shelf.  That's 38 and a half feet of CDs!  And those are only my musicals!

That's what I did today.  Just had to share. :)

Yeah, Macy's is a lot to deal with... lucky you have only three floors!  Well, technically two and a half.  Women have SEVEN, and that's not counting shoes, coats, or swimsuits!  Oy.

Correction:  Three is right, two and a half is wrong.  But that's not counting shoes.  :)

I always feel bad when two or more celebrities pass away within a very short period of time.  It seems as if one person never quite gets the attention or respect that they deserve.  I remember when Mother Teresa passed away, her death went almost unnoticed, because it followed so closely on the heals of Princess Diana's death.

I noticed it again when ABC Weekend News announced tonight that there was one passing of note this weekend; and then went on to discuss the death of Don Knotts.  Maybe it was because he had such close ties to Tacoma, but Darren McGavin was always one of my favorite televison actors.  It would be a shame if his passing was not properly noted (except, of course, here at HHW).

After Dancing with Stars, I watched the Closing Ceremonies.  Maybe it's just me, but I got a kick out of the ladies in what appear to be wedding gowns doing marching band formations.

Here's the story on CNN.com re Darren McGavin. They have the story about Don Knotts and Darren McGavin on the same line on the main page.

I have to say, I was very tempted by the latest line of pajamas and bathrobes from Ralph Lauren/Polo.  Now if I just had a fireplace and a La-Z-Boy...

And, actually, I do believe the Men's Department - including the shoes is only two and a half floors.  But those single floors are big.

I didn't make it down to The Cellar today, and if I had, I'm pretty sure I would have bought something there.

I believe you mean "2'9" of CDs on each shelf".  Otherwise, you'd have a 138 feet of CDs.

*And I know people with Opera Collections that long... big.

Oops!  Got that backwards.  Yes, two-feet and nine-inches per shelf...fourteen of them, for a total of thirty-eight feet and six inches (approximately).  Thanks!

I can't imagine having 138 feet of opera recordings!  Yikes!  And I thought I spent a lot on my CDs!

Channel 13 devoted two hours to completing BLEAK HOUSE tonight, and it was such a beautiful series.  DR Jane, it's two hours of tearjerking tonight.  I've already ordered the DVD set, which I believe comes out next week.

And so, to bed.

I guess it really is winter.

Mother Teresa wouldn't have wanted the attention, I don't think.

I also picked up DVD sets ($5 a set at Fred Meyer) of the following TV series:

GANG BUSTERS (12 EPISODES)

MEDIC (16 episodes)

LOCK -UP (10 episodes)

BUFFALO BILL, JR (12 EPISODES)
PISTOLS N PETTICOATS (6 EPISODES)
FRONTIER DOCTOR (4 EPISODES)

Those last 3 shows are all on once set!

That is a LOT of television to watch!

Had dinner at Macaroni Grill with my sister Sue, brother in law Doug, niece Katie and hubby Brian, nephew John and wife/family Jamie, Taylor, Benny, brother Jeff and wife Linda...it was fun.

I had veal something-or-other which was quite tasty.

Wallace Beery and Jon Voight the same? Not in this lifetime.

I had a nice selection of media watched tonight. I began with "Snakes," the last CSI episode on the disc in the set I had skipped. Weird couple of cases and very interesting ones.

Then, I plucked QUEEN CHRISTINA off the shelf. It was one of the Garbo films I skipped from that boxed set because I had the laserdisc that I had watched many, many times.

The DVD really varied in quality. Some of it looked silky and wonderful. Some of it looked overly grainy. There were too many small scratches throughout the film. This was not a high quality print they used for this transfer. Because the film is quite old, I guess it's the best they could find, but if so, that's pretty disappointing that it's ever going to look any better than this.

At some point, I should take out the laser and watch selected scenes to see if those scratches are on it. I sure don't remember it having so much smal damage on the sides of the frame.

COLD CASE had a new episode tonight that dealt with a case only five years old, so all the actors could play themselves in the past and present. Veronica Cartwright guest starred, and this is like the third or fourth guest star role I've seen her in during the new year.

During commercials, I flipped around the cable guide to see if anything was coming on at 9 on any of the pay cable channel.

Sure enough, Starz was debuting SIN CITY tonight. I didn't see it in the theater, so I was anxious to see this much talked about graphic novel brought to the screen. Very true to graphic novels and the hyper-violence present in this particular series. Beautifully realized art direction and photography give it a most unique look and flavor. And all star cast certainly got with the film's point of view and played it for all it was worth.

Not really my cup of tea film-wise, but for an experiment in tone, texture, and atmosphere, it pretty much scored a bull's eye with its goals.

And I understand a special edition was released on DVD at Christmas that allows the user to place the episodes in whatever order he'd like to view them (in addition to having more footage on view. At just over 2 hours, there was all I wanted to see already there).
