DRs SWW and DerB - Be thankful you weren't heading into DC this morning.  Horrible accident on the Beltway this morning right at the 270-split.  Basically, a tractor trailer overturned on an overpass... The load of fencing panels and lumber fell onto the roadway below...  Has basically snarled the traffic in the area all morning, and will basically keep it backed-up through the afternoon rush hour due to the clean up involved.  Just a total mess, and, unfortunately, there was one fatality.

Hi folks!

Just wanted to pop in before I take my walk down to the bottom of the street.  I'm trying to build myself up.

I got dressed for the first time yesterday and took my first walk but it tired me out so badly that I had to lay down when I got home.

Last night I couldn't sleep so I played a little Rummy against the computer.

I also want to thank you all again for the lovely flowers.  Here are some pictures.

Thank you all once again for all of the good thoughts and vibes.  I'm sure they are playing a very large part in my recovery.

I was so sorry to hear about Jack Wild.  Like many of you, he was a part of my childhood.

What I remember most is that both my girlfriend and I had the biggest crush ever on him.  We each wrote him a long letter of little girl love and rushed to send them off to him, hoping against hope for a reply from our hero.

Well, he answered both of us.  A post card.  The very same post card gving us the date and times of HR PuffNStuff.  A commercial.  I think we both felt like the little boy in "A Christmas Story" with the decoder ring.    :-\  :)

In the "Wouldn't you know" department.  I found out that they have just (as in days ago) come out with a newer version of the camera I wanted and it has the one feature that I really, really, really wanted.  The anti shake.

I can honestly say I am not that thrill with the pictures I got from the camera I bought (the Casio EX-Z750)--I posted the best pictures I got from it but many of them were blurred and unuseable.

Since I have 21 days to return the camera I bought, I think as soon as the doctor releases me to drive on Tuesday, I will be taking it back and will wait for the new model (Casio EX-Z850) to come down a little in price.

Was he reacting to DR George's comment about "Medium" or did he use it as a mantra to get through "Transporter 2"?

 ;)

Scott Bakula should make a fine Charlie. Do you know who's doing the choreography? That show was probably harder on my body than any other dancing show I ever did. The two numbers the brothers have ("Next to Lovin'" and "It's a Boy") were done a la the barn raisin' in SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS. I remember having to do a leap off of a wishing well (wearing boots) while executing a Russian split, and it was murder on my knees.

My friend Noah Racey is choreographing.

I call him my old man.  See the grey on his chin?

It's hard to believe that just one week ago today I was still in the hospital.    I'm doing so much better every day that goes by.  I was having such a hard time doing little things like getting out of bed or even turning in bed but it's getting easier.

I think the walking will help.  I don't go far.  Just down to the bottom of the street and back.

Re  "American Idol"

SPOILER???

I thought last night's stellar performer was Elliot Yamin, followed closely by Chris Daughtry.  I don't give a damn what Simon thinks about their song choices, Elliot's voice, range and incredible ability to sing words clearly and audibly regardless of where they fall on the clef...not to mention his emotional interpretations...are unbelievable.  It's like he doesn't truly belong on this "amateur" show!

Chris was terrific, too, and he totally blew me away with that "now sound."  It's because he, unlike most singers in the top 10 today, can "actually" sing!  But he does not have the range or vocal quality of Elliot.

Ace was good, and I agree with MattH that Will was pretty darned terrific, too.  Gedeon actually surprised me last night.  I'm usually turned off by his egocentric comments (especially in light of some much better vocalists in the competition who are genuinely modest), but his singing was quite good.

I have had more than enough of Taylor Hicks, thank-you-very-much-now-let's-move-on.  I agree that David disappointed, but I fear we may be stuck with him for a while because he has those looks and that smile that will have teenaged girls voting multiple times for him.  Unless, of course, they don't dig his crooning, chum.  And I'm so OVER his style.  He has gotten worse each time I've heard him.

Sway and Bucky were okay.  Kevin was okay.  If we lost any of them, David or Taylor, I'd be fine with it.

I think the cream has risen to the top on both groups...and the rest are curdling away...for at least two more weeks, too, before they get down to six men and six women.

I'm not sure what others think, but I don't think giving opinions about American Idol performances is a spoiler. Saying who got voted off is a spoiler. Although i guess it's good to just keep the space, just in case.

I'm not as in love with the guys as I am with the girls.

But I think Chris has surprised me. I really really liked him last night.

I also think Ace is really good. He has the right look.

As for Elliot, he was really good last night and he has a nice sweet personality. But there is something about the way he looks that needs to go. I can't quite put my finger on it.  His clothes are nice. Maybe it's his buzz haircut with his ears sticking out. Or maybe it's the funny bangs in the front of his hair. Or his teeth.  But he just doesn't look like i think the winner needs to look. And i'm not sure if he can get the fan support.

I do not like Jose. I do not like Gideon (his comments always put me off as well). But he was decent last night.

I was not expecting to like little boy (kevin). But he was sweet and very likeable. And i enjoyed his performance.

I like Taylor hicks a lot, although last night was not so great.

I also normally enjoy bobby brady and crooner boy. Although neither really appealed to me last night.

Bucky sounds good mostly, but he seems so shy and doesn't have a personality that catches me.

I'm not sure who will go since there are always suprises. Although it won't be ace or chris. I suspect taylor has many fans too. I thinking jose and bucky are at risk.  I"m hoping for the women it will be brenna and konnik (although it could be melissa or heather too).
