Last night's "Lost":

SPOILER

Interesting episode, but I'm not too sure how I feel about that last shot in Hurley's "flashback" (?) with Libby being one of the patients in his mental institution.

I know these people are all on the island for a reason...and they obviously have connections in some form or another. But....this one goes hand-in-hand with a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode in its 5th or 6th season in which Buffy was in an institution in LA and her life in Sunnyvale -- and her status as a slayer -- were just figments of her imagination. And the episode led you to think that she was either being manipulated into thinking she had a Sunnyvale existence...or that we, the audience, were the ones being manipulated.

That was my least favorite Buffy episode. And I think last night's "Lost" will rank as my least favorite of all, so far.

Last night's "Bones":

No Spoiler

As much as I enjoy this show, I was too done in to enjoy it tonight. I nodded off in my rocking chair...and virtually every attempt I made to snap out of it over the course of the hour was met with strong resistance.

I was glad to see Rodney Rowland working (he was the SEAL). He seems always to guest star as some sort of wacko/psycho...and he's a pretty good actor, too. He was a key character on the two-season "Space: Above and Beyond."

I do love asian cuisine. Japanese is among my favorite, but I seldom find myself going to Japanese restaurants, although I'm only aware of one or two. We have a Chinatown, you see.

We have Korean and Thai and Indian and Vietnamese restaurants galore.

I love Thai and Vietnamese, thus far. Haven't yet been to an Indian restaurant, though I long to go...but with someone who knows the specialties.

And I'm a fool for Dim Sum, and Szechuan Chinese food!

Good morning, all! God, I hate the week after a time change! My body refuses to believe it's really 6 am, knowing it was 5 am one day before, and the metabolism (?) is off.

I finished the last chart, I've taken my allergy medication, and I have a few hours in Toyland. I have a band rehearsal tonight with the Men's Chorus and we'll hear what I've written in the past two weeks. It's always an exciting and humiliating moment: exciting when everyone loves it and humiliating when you know you missed the mark. There will be a bit of both tonight, and hopefully I will be fast enough on my feet to fix anything I'm unhappy about.

On the way to rehearsal I will pick up an orchestration to proof from my copyist and stop at Miss Karen Ziemba's to escort her to rehearsal. I always have a good time with her, so that will be fun.

Hmm... I am not a fan of Japanese cuisine, so I have nothing to add to that half of the TOD.

But on the other side of it:

My favorite Japanese actor is Toshiro Mifune, and my favorite Japanese actress is Miko Taka who costarred with Marlon Brando in SAYONARA....and Miyoshi Umeki who won a Academy Award for the same film.

I do like Japanese cuisine although I don't care for the more exotic items on the menu.

I have not seen many Japanese films in my lifetime so I feel unable to comment on favorites

I also know of very few Japanese actors. I know that over the years I have seen many but the only two I can think of right now are Miyoshi Umeki from Flower Drum Song and the Courtship of Eddie's Father and Mako. I only know Mako from the OCR of Pacific Overtures. His opening line, NIPPON, the Floating Kingdom, still rings in my head. Even though I never saw that production, I hear him even when I'm listening to other recordings of the show.
