MATZARELLA - that's the title of my next Passover tale of the young girl at Passover who wanted to go to the Prophet Elijah's ball (matzoh ball, that is)

Favorite Passover stories, volume one:

First, the set-up is that "charoses" is the dish made from apples and other delicious stuff that represents the mortar with which the pyramids were built.  Heard at the seder of a dear friend, after much tense family conversation:

"Would someone please pass the neurosis?"

My Dad has had a very eventful day.  I spoke to him at 9 this morning, and he told he he was fine, no pain problems at all, which I found very curious.  My cousin Sue emailed me around five pm to say that while she was visiting him, he started his morphine drip, and shortly thereafter went into a sort of delirious agitated state, trying to remove tubes and get out of bed.  His fever went to 102 degrees, and he was having a hard time realizing he wasn't in 1995, although he did recognize everyone in the room.  My sister-in-law called just now to say his fever was down to 100, he's on a different pain medication, and stabilized for the night.  Oy!

And on that note, good night.  It's been a long day.

My Mom, the Rebbetzin Rosalie, was heard to say - after all the talk about the bitter herbs representing the horrible times in Egypt -

Mmmmm...could I have some more bitter herbs!

I defy Bruce to get through the seder without thinking, when the lamb shank is pointed out, shanks for the memories.

Someone says that at just about every seder I've been to.

I did THE SOUND OF MUSIC long after that Rebecca Luker Broadway revival, and the script we got from R&H was the original libretto with both of Max's songs as per usual. To be honest, I wouldn't have wanted to do the show without them.

Well, I got the front yard mowed and the living room cleaned. Took longer than I expected since before I did either of those things, I got another hysterical phone call from the friends going through the breakup. It lasted a good 40 minutes or so. Oh, the joy of love and the ache at the loss of it!

With about thirty minutes left, I had just enough time to finish THE DEVIL IS A WOMAN to see even more outrageously designed gowns for Marlene to flounce around in.

They didn't have the costume Oscar in 1935, but one wonders if these clothes would have taken the prize. They are certainly eye-catching and elaborate.

IDOL thoughts:

Surprisingly, the evening was not the train wreck I was expecting, and was 1000 times more entertaining than the Stevie Wonder week or the 21st century week.

I thought Elliott had the best rendition of the night. Chris found a way to be a rocker while still actually singing instead of screaming. Even Bucky found a way to make Queen compatible with his singing style.

I really found Paris the weakest link of the night. Her outfit was WAY too old for her (like a little girl playing dominatrix dress-up) and the band was too loud and drowned out her vocals. Randy was reticent to give her a bad review saying she brought it home at the end, but the end seemed desperate to me to try to make up for all the bad singing choices earlier in the song.

I like Katharine but tonight she seemed really straining to reach those top notes and had to kind of fall off them once she got to them for fear of cracking.

Kellie for one of the few times really put on a real show, and I liked her. Ace picked a song that didn't allow him much to work with ("We Will Rock You'), so I think he's in trouble.

On the basis of tonight's vocals, I'd send Paris home, but her line was busy all night, so I think she'll be safe. Katharine's line was never busy at all, so I think she may be in trouble. During the first hour, the numbers who seemed busiest were the two left remaining from last week's bottom three: Elliott and Paris.

During the second hour, everyone's line was busy except Chris and Katharine. I won't believe Chris is in any danger so I'll put Ace, Bucky, and Katharine in the bottom three for my guesses.

HOUSE had a traumatic episode for the patient and in counterpoint had a poker tournament where Cuddy and Wilson were playing against each other. Some ofthis was quite funny.

As for CONVICTION, I still can't warm up to the personal lioves of the young attorneys. I just don't care enough about them as people to care what happens to them outside the counrtroom.

And since clearly half the show deals with that, the cases get short shrift and thus aren't that engrossing either. And I certainly wanted to know more about the rape and the "suicide" cases. We only got highlights when I think each of them could have been expanded and made an entire episode a la LAW & ORDER.

Back from editing.  We did the first third of act one tonight and I must say it looks pretty good.  We're just assembling from the show right now, and then will insert whatever pickups we need to.

Bakalor and whoever designed this board are long gone, basically, so unless I can get our webhost to see if they can figure it out, we're sunk in terms of photos, I'm afraid.

BK, don't you pay someone to maintain the site?  Isn't the web designer supposed to handle these little problems...or did you mean they are only gone for the night, not all time?

THE SOUND OF MUSIC  was done here in town a couple of years ago, and my friend who played Max was furious that his part had been so completely rewritten.

My web person has been "unavailable" to me for two years now.  He hasn't really charged me for anything during that time, but I can't get any upgrades to the site, can't post interviews, can't do additions, and it's very frustrating.  I would love to get it away and with someone who can handle that stuff, and I might just try and do that in the next couple of months.  It's a very complex site, very well designed with the technology from five years ago.

Hmmm, I'm ordering it on Amazon. I'll let you know when I get it.  I think things may slow down enough at work for me to actually read a book. Plus I'm making trips to Philly and San Francisco in May so I'll need some good reads for the planes

It is an excellent book Cilla, I recommend it.

Thanks to MBarnum I have seen your beautiful Blue Moon.  Are you sure she is a husky and not a malamute?  I LOVE both breeds.

I recently attempted posting a photo without success.

Want to know something weird....

I use both MIE and Opera at owrk and some of the pics showed up.

I use MIE at home and all pictures from the late afternoon on are showing up for me...

You might be onto something. I mentioned it to a freind and her cat acted out of character after she had taken her other cat to the vet.

It's taken me the entire day to catch up and I was only away for 4 days. But my desk is now clear, mail done, calls and emails returned. Tomorrow I can get back to work.
No Seder invitation for the first time in years. Usually I have a couple to chose from. Hmmm....

Dear Daughter just returned to Budapest from Berlin. She said she went to a film museum that she thought would be nothing much. It was in a very touristy part of town and admission was cheap. It turned out to be an incredible place with many original Dietrich costumes, set pieces from Metropolis and other fascinating items from German cinema that I'm too tired right now to recall.

And in the mail today I got a copy of Dubliners which she and DBF had picked up for me at the Joyce museum a few weeks ago when they were in Ireland. Nice work if you can get it.

Good Vibes to DR Elmore's dad.
