Well, you've read the notes, the notes were relaxed, and now it is time for you to post until the relaxed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANDICULATION!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to lechienfou aka Leslie.
-
thank you dear Bruce! I shall try to make merry on my natal day :D
Despite promising myself NOT to do anything "Black Friday", I did do a bit of Hannukah shopping this evening for the twins. After 1 hour in the mall I was fit for a white jacket and padded cell…... between copious humans and relentless Xmas music.
I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving---- whether you celebrated big, small, or not traditionally at all!!
-
Happy birthday to Leslie!!!
-
Happy birthday Leslie!!
-
This is not the TOD. Just a mention. Vixdad and I have been watching a series in Netflix called River. It is an English cop show with an interesting twist. Highly recommended by the two of us
-
TOD... Vixdad would probably say Bladerunner
I prefer Bicentential Man
-
He likes action movies I prefer romance and comedy movies
-
I didn't like the movie AI. Haley Joel Osment was wonderful in it but it was much too sad
-
Most amazing HHW birthday wishes to DR lechienfou!!!
-
TOD:
I don't know from artificial intelligence. Heck, I don't know from intelligence, period.
-
I don't know if it has been mentioned here that the 2016 Tony Awards will be held on June 12, 2016 at The Beacon Theater.
-
Congratulations to DR Jrand65 on resurrecting your online article on Allison Hayes!

My mom always followed the recipe on the back of the toll house chocolate chips packet
-
I fear to post this here lest I be forever banned from HHW and shunned by the likes of JohnG but my chocolate chip cookies are the pillsbury slice and bake ....
The Vixter had been known to make wonderful from scratch cookies though
-
Good morning.
-
Happy Birthday, DR lechienfou!
-
Good morning, all.
What is it, Saturday?
-
A very very Happy Birthday to our one and only DR lechienfou!
-
I fear to post this here lest I be forever banned from HHW and shunned by the likes of JohnG but my chocolate chip cookies are the pillsbury slice and bake ....
The only times I ever made cookies myself were from that kind of package. Can't remember if it was Pillsbury, possibly some other brand, but it's been years since that has even happened.
-
Sandy and I watched the first, possibly the 2nd, episode of MR. ROBOT, but then gave up on it.
Also gave up on THE BLACKLIST and GOTHAM after the first seasons, and we will probably give up on BLINDSPOT soon.
-
TOD:
First off, I've never seen A.I., so I'll go along with Vixdad on BLADE RUNNER. Another favorite would be ALIENS. And how about that early Twilight Zone episode THE LONELY? And a certain Kubrick film that takes place in outer space fifteen years ago?
Hey, I have the Blu-ray of EX MACHINA! I guess it's been waiting for a rainy day. Must check the weather forecast.
-
With few exceptions (e.g. FARGO), we don't really like "serial" stories on on TV shows. Much prefer stories that are self-contained within 1-2 episodes (e.g. MAJOR CRIMES, LAW & ORDER:SVU, BLUE BLOODS, etc.) The few "serial" shows we do like are limited series (e..g. 10 episodes per season) that begin a new storyline each season.
Because they were part of crossover shows with CHICAGO P.D. and LAW & ORDER:SVU, we started watching CHICAGO FIRE in its 3 or 4th season, and it was easy to catch up as to what was going on.
-
Happy Birthday to DR lechienfou!
Vibes for DR TCB for everything he has to get done today. Don't rush.....let them wait.
-
TOD:
Forbidden Planet, The Invisible Boy - both with Robby the Robot. He was also featured on episodes of The Thin Man and The Gale Storm Show....and The Twilight Zone.
2001: A Space Odyssey
Tobor The Great
-
Good morning, all.
JRand, I, too, am a Robbie the Robot fan and second your post.
-
Happy birthday, Lechienfou! Or should I say Bonne Anniversaire?
-
Good morning, all! I've been tied up with email for the past hour. I need a trip to Staples this morning to print a lot of blankpages for my choral score. The Dreidl Song is perking away at the back of my mind.
-
I have no more news. It will be a quiet weekend.

Yesterday I slaved outdoors -- cutting brush, blowing leaves and other debris from Point A to Point B, etc. etc. etc. There are rains coming today, so, following the running of some post-Thanksgiving errands, I plan to enjoy the bulk of the day indoors and getting back to doing things I like to do.
-
TOD:
I don't think I've seen a lot of movies with robots, but I did enjoy "I, Robot" very much.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR lechienfou@sbcglobal.net!! :D
-
I don't know how I'd forget Robby the Robot, but he definitely belongs on the list.
-
My mom always followed the recipe on the back of the toll house chocolate chips packet
Me, too! It's the best! ;D
-
TOD... Vixdad would probably say Bladerunner
I prefer Bicentential Man
I liked both of these. I also enjoyed "Ex Machina" very much.

Well, I'm up but must be going. Today, we're going to see some holiday light display, but first I'll need to take a shower. The problem is that my cousin's house only has one bathroom, so with five people here this weekend, who knows when it'll be my turn. ::)
-
I am home from Staples. On my way there, I ran into my best friend, Matthew, who is one of my executors in my will. He informed me that he and his partner are thin king of selling their Brooklyn co-op and relocating to San Francisco!
I may need a new executor, and the search is on.
-
It'll be fine. We have no specific plans except for this afternoon.
Have a good day, all!

HOLIDAY SPECIAL!
Here is the perfect gift for the movie buff or anybody involved in theatre.
Through the holiday buying season, if you purchase BOTH of my play anthologies, THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS (10 plays) and THE HOLLYWOOD SCANDALS (3 plays) directly from me, I will give you a 25% discount off the retail price.
That's a savings of $10.00 if you bought the books individually or together from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
Your cost would be $30.00 + $5.00 shipping for both books within the USA. This offer is good outside of the USA also, though the shipping cost MAY be adjusted, depending on where you live. All books will be shipped directly from the publisher.
THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS contains one-person stage plays about Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Carole Lombard, Al Jolson, Errol Flynn, Clara Bow, Orson Welles, Maurice Chevalier, Basil Rathbone and a 2-person play about Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy.
THE HOLLYWOOD SCANDALS includes 3 multiple-character plays: B MOVIE (the Franchot Tone/Barbara Payton/Tom Neal sex scandal), SEXY REXY (Rex Harrison and the women in his life, two of whom committed suicide)and LANA & JOHNNY WERE LOVERS (the Lana Turner/Johnny Stompanato affair).
Payment can be via PayPal (preferred), check or money order.

Saturday morning greetings! Huge college football double header in our household today. Michigan/Ohio State at noon, followed by Michigan State/Penn State, all to determine who plays Iowa next Saturday for the Big Ten championship. Rob and Mary Linda are out shopping for football snacks.
Go, Blue! Go, Green!
-
I'm up, I'm up, barely - didn't really fall asleep until about four - was thinking about the new book and kept getting up and making notes.
-
Good morning!
-
I am freezing here in the living room. Thank goodness the bathroom has heat.
-
And thank goodness for hot coffee!!
-
Well, traffic sure came to a stop nearly two hours ago.
-
Happy Saturday (if it really is Saturday)!!!!
-
Very rainy today and much cooler. Much more like November.
-
I'd like to take a ride on the windmills of DR elmore3003's mind.
-
I just spent a few hours chasing some of my work colleagues around the county.
We purchased 7 new laptops, and a license for antivirus software to protect them. It is apparently too much for some people to click a link to download, install, and activate their software, so I had to go find them during one of their shifts and do it for them.
-
Well, #%&$
-
Back from stuff. I shall now relax until we leave for dinner. I did have two poached eggs on one English muffin, to tide me over - it's fine as I jogged this morning.
-
DR SINGDAW can you come and install my anti virus software?
-
Well, #%&$
Ginny!
Was that in response to Singdaw's post or is football going badly?
-
I just made a couple of delicious sandwiches the kind that can only be made from Thanksgiving leftovers... Multigrain vbread with mayo, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and then cold gravey as dressing on the top piece of bread
-
I keep forgetting I cannot bite
-
So I am eating my sandwich with a knife and fork
-
Well, #%&$
Ginny!

Hello, everyone.
-
I'm up, I'm up, barely - didn't really fall asleep until about four - was thinking about the new book and kept getting up and making notes.
The best reason I know of to be unable to sleep. I can think of lots of bad reasons.
-
Happy Birthday to lechienfou!
-
Vibes of warmth to TCB and Nicky!
-
I'm continuing to do small projects around the apartment, mostly stuff that cleaning people won't usually do. Also some stuff I just prefer to do myself.
-
It's a good thing that I tossed two loads of catalogs last week. The catalog pile, which had been reduced significantly, is now within an inch of its pre-cull height. 'Tis the season.
-
I'm hoping to do a charity run before year-end -- books, mostly.
-
Jane, you asked me the other day whether Closys mouthwash helps with gum pockets. Yes, very much. Prior to discovering Closys I'd had a rather poor evaluation during my dental cleaning. I try to be very conscientious about this and don't know why my gums suddenly got worse. I'd been using Closys daily for two weeks before my next cleaning and Viola! No problems! I was most impressed! No problems since then, either. I still see the hygienist every six months, but all I need now is a light cleaning and scaling. I'm sold on the product. Most of the reviewers on Amazon feel the same way.
-
Vixmom, how long will you have your temporary bridge?
-
Well, I'm just full of fascinating posts today. Hopefully, other DRs will do better. ;)
TTFN.
-
I am up from a long afternoon nap and have nothing of any substance to offer.
-
Good times.
-
Finished a terrific motion picture on the Flix of Net, about which more later. Now getting ready for the big dinner tonight.
-
Happy Birthday to DR lechienfou!
-
Page 3?
-
Watched the special on PBS about behind-the-scenes at Doc Martin. Looking forward to the new season.
-
Heat vibes for DR TCB!
-
Page three? Really?
-
I just got Liz Callaway's new CD. Will listen soon.
-
My ride should be here in about two minutes, but since they're usually late I'm sure it will be five to ten minutes. I've looked at the menu online and pretty much decided on my food course of action.
-
Went to the post office to see if they possibly had any more mail for me. I had asked that the mail be held while I was in Buffalo. I said I would pick it up Monday, but when I got home the mailbox was stuffed with mail. So, today, the clerk checked and came out with about 25 pieces of mail. I went to the lobby to look at it--not one piece had my name on it.
-
Have a good dinner, BK!
-
Another mild day in the Nation's Capital.
-
Now I'm watching "Songbook Standards: As Time Goes By," hosted by Jack Jones, on PBS. Perry Como, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby and other singers are featured.
-
Kiss Me Kate is at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC. I'll have to make a point to see it--Douglas Sills stars.
-
And I think Sandy Bainum was supposed to be in Mame this weekend after her injury but I'm not sure after I read something she wrote on Facebook.
-
Only a few more posts till page 4.
-
3 more.

Do I hear 2?

I just learned that Matt Gould, who I knew when he was a teen and he later recorded the demo version of my musical, HAIL ON THE CHIEF!, has a new musical he co-wrote, INVISIBLE THREAD, playing off-Broadway.
Congrats!

Are you serious? Barely page four.

We're back from seeing the lights and it was Shore Acres, Jane! We got there at about 4:00 pm. It wasn't very crowded and the lights were on. We walked around for a little over an hour and looked at all the wonderful lights. It was really nice...cold, but nice.
-
We left after it started getting dark and as a LOT more people were just arriving. We got there early enough to avoid the huge crowd. :D
-
After we left, we drove by an accident that had only happened a few minutes before. I only saw one car and it was upside down! I didn't see any bodies, so I hope that the driver is okay.
-
There weren't any emergency vehicles there yet, but other cars had stopped, so we didn't. About a minute after we passed the accident, a police car raced toward the accident from the direction we were heading. We just came home and now we're playing Phase 10.
-
Be back later.
-
You can go, but be back soon.
-
LUCKY #100!
-
Back from the fundraiser. I won't know the total until tomorrow, but I think it was a success.
-
The pasta buffet was awesome. I think the tomato basil was best, but it was close.
-
My mom always followed the recipe on the back of the toll house chocolate chips packet
That's the recipe I use
-
Hi TCB Are you still here?
-
Looks like I chased him away
-
Today I made a home made pot pie for the first time. The recipe was for a regular sized pie so that's what I made. It was good! A little runny, but it was my first try. I still have lots left and very few other turkey left overs. I'm really glad because I'm getting very tired of turkey
-
We're expecting a big snow storm on Monday. 6-10 inches of snow predicted. Some models make it closer to a foot. Will be very anxious to see how much we get.
-
I was planning to be home Monday morning for the electrician to come and replace a light switch. Don't know if he'll come now.
-
I did go to the office and packed up a brief case of work just in case I need to work from home on Monday. I do have one appointment scheduled, but I can easily cancel that if need be
-
Singdaw, is this storm going to hit you too?
-
I think I'm all alone....good time to snoop around the living room.....
-
On the dinner alone, we made $1590, but I have no idea what we made on the raffle and the silent auction.
-
Actually, I'm not much of a snooper these days. I was as a kid. Never found anything very interesting
-
On the dinner alone, we made $1590, but I have no idea what we deserve on the raffle and the silent auction.
That's good for the dinner. Did you sell lots of tickets? Was it only a raffle silent auction or could you sign up for things too
-
I'm just rambling on.....I did practice my flute today. I have to drive about 40 miles to get to flute choir practice tomorrow, hope the snow holds off until after I'm back home
-
Actually, I'm not much of a snooper these days. I was as a kid. Never found anything very interesting
I don't know if I was ever a snooper.
-
I've been playing a lot of candy crush. Can't believe how long I've been playing that game. I'm almost to level 800
-

I think I was actually just curious. I didn't really care if I found anything, just curious about everything when I was a kid

There was a raffle and then we're a lot of items on the silent auction tables.
-

I've never played that.

Silent auctions usually do pretty well
-

I've never played that.
Not sure why I keep playing. I usually find a game and get bored with it and quit. Guess I'm not bored yet
-
I'm actually ready to go back to work.
-
Where do you find the game?
-
Well, at least they can't say we didn't make it to page 5
-
It's a facebook game
-
There are some really hard levels, but so far I've gotten past them.
-
Vixmom, how long will you have your temporary bridge?
I have been told it will be 6 months before they will consider putting in the implants and permanent bridge
-
I really haven't done much of anything today
-
If you are going to have snow, you need to make turkey soup or turkey stew.
-
Vixmom, how long will you have your temporary bridge?
I have been told it will be 6 months before they will consider putting in the implants and permanent bridge
You can't bite for 6 months?

Turkey is all in the pot pie
-
Vixmom, how long will you have your temporary bridge?
I have been told it will be 6 months before they will consider putting in the implants and permanent bridge
That seems like a long time to wait!
-
Soup does sound good. I'll have to see what I have in my freezer for meat, I have everything else I need to make soup
-
Make the turkey stock and buy some chicken in place of the turkey meat.
-
That's a good idea....if I had something to make turkey stock from :) It's all in the pot pie
-
No bones?
-

I hope I will be able to bite after that ...
-
It all sounds good. Pot pie, soup, stew, you name it. I don't get tired of the leftovers that fast. I'm good for about a week on that stuff.
I made myself a beautiful plate of leftovers tonight in the form of a hot open-faced turkey sandwich. Much gravy was involved, along with some extra sage sausage that was left over from the stuffing recipe. And I outdid myself on mashed potatoes -- I think the butter and heavy cream content just about equaled the spud content. And the orange-assisted cranberry sauce is SO the perfect side to offset that richness. I'm almost as stuffed now as I was after the main dinner.
-
Happy birthday DR lechienfou!
-
I fear to post this here lest I be forever banned from HHW and shunned by the likes of JohnG but my chocolate chip cookies are the pillsbury slice and bake ....
I like the dough right out of the frig on those.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee they can put it the implants even then. It will depend on whether my bone has sufficiently grown back

Happy birthday DR lechienfou!
Ditto!

No bones?
Got rid of them on Thursday, I didn't feel like doing the soup thing

Let's go for Page Six.

Hey, I have the Blu-ray of EX MACHINA! I guess it's been waiting for a rainy day. Must check the weather forecast.
It rained!!! And when it rains, it pours. Right? But that's another subject for another day. This evening, following BK's reportage, I was totally ready for watching this, and I am here to tell you it's a beaut. This is the kind of thing that renews one's faith in the business of film making -- because, like BK said, it is original, and so unyielding to everything "expected" in today's films. Bravo to all!
-
I watched the Weather Channel special on the Donner Party. It was pretty good
-
You did it TCB!!!
-
I made a nice meaty turkey soup.i gave half of it to my folks.

Mark your calendars!

Could you please give the other half to Cilla.

I have never had success before in making turkey soup the I saw someone on FB mention that they let it cook a long while a reduce to concentrate the flavor and it really worked
-
I watched the Weather Channel special on the Donner Party. It was pretty good
Watched that last night. Definitely worth seeing, and learning some of the details. But I have to say that watching it on the channel itself was something to try one's patience. Or to make one a patient. The constant interruptions, and constant weather data plastered across the screen... ay yi yi...

Thanks TCB, but I'm ok. I'm very excited that I was able to make a pot pie. It's regular pie sized not little pot pie sized and it tastes really good. Carrots, potatoes, corn, peas and turkey. I'll heat it up tomorrow and enjoy it

I recorded it and was able to forward through the ton of commercials. I agree about the weather, but if I was looking for the weather I'd be irritated that they weren't showing it. So......

Of course not. Be sure to provide your flight information and we'll meet you at the airport.
Actually, if vixmom's got a little extra time on her hands (thanks to the generous and lenient vacation days policy at her new job), maybe she would be good enough to drive around the country and pick everyone up.

Ok you have convinced me we are definitely having friends giving at Your house. Please make the mashed taters and orange cranberry relish
It's a year from today!!!
I shall mark my calendar!!
Are only East Coasters invited?
I have room for 6 passengers
Great! Want to pick me up :)
-
I am glad your nieces fund raiser was successful Tom.
Thanks, Debby's.

Of course not. Be sure to provide your flight information and we'll meet you at the airport.
Actually, if vixmom's got a little extra time on her hands (thanks to the generous and lenient vacation days policy at her new job), maybe she would be good enough to drive around the country and pick everyone up.
I like the way you think!!
-
I made a nice meaty turkey soup.i gave half of it to my folks.
Could you please give the other half to Cilla.
I am afraid it might leak through the envelope
Oh dear, imagine the security issues that could cause!
But the postage sorting equipment would smell delicious
Indeed it would!

For dinner with the parents, my sister made a cranberry sauce with caramelized onions. I didn't have any, but my dad (who really only likes the regular jellied cranberry sauce in a can) liked this. He did say is was a bit strong, but he did eat and enjoy it.

I made the mandarin orange, pineapple, marshmallow, coconut, and sour cream salad yesterday and again today. I love that stuff. Forgot to make it on Thanksgiving.
-
I am craving some hot from the oven crescent rolls
-
I just looked and I still have a little turkey. It will make a nice sandwich
-
I am craving some hot from the oven crescent rolls
I love those. This year I got the Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls. Love those too
-
I suspect hat 1:45 in the am is too late to think about baking....
-
Or is it too early!?
-
I also have cranberry sauce, which I have discovered I really like on vanilla ice cream
-
I want some chocolate chip cookies.
-
Vixmom, I'm guessing that somewhere in New York City people are baking every hour of the day
-

My mom calls that ambrosia

What fun to have a late night group on HHW again

That is true... I wonder if any of them would care to deliver

I thought that was the name, but my mom always just called it "that mandarin orange salad"

I was just thinking that. We used to have these late night chats all the time!
-
I have never made ambrosia myself and my mom did not make it this year.
-
I need that recipe
-
I also have cranberry sauce, which I have discovered I really like on vanilla ice cream
I think that was the great appeal of the Cranberry Delight Pie: cranberry sauce and vanilla ice cream.
-
I need that recipe
For Ambrosia? pretty much equal parts canned mandarin orange, canned pineapple, mini marshmallows, coconut and sour cream. Be sure to drain the fruit well or it gets runny. I don't measure, just add stuff until it tastes good and looks right
-
Watching the end of Pather Panchali, which is due back at the library tomorrow. It's the first of the Apu Trilogy.
This is one of the most hard-hitting movies I've ever sat through. Forgot that I had seen way, way back been. Just a wonderful movie despite all the hardships this Indian family faces.
And Ravi Shankar's score is among the finest I've ever heard. Just brilliant.

I wanted to take my new scooter to the fundraiser, but when I got it out to the car, I couldn't get the seat to come off. I tried and tried, but finally gave up.

Well i need to be in my car driving to church in less Han 6 hours so I guess I had better get to sleep

Maybe that's where I got the idea, lol

Actually I am not sure Mom puts coconut in hers. I think she uses green seedless grapes instead
-
And look! It's page 8

Good night, Vixmom!

It has been a very long day. Started at 9:30 a.m. with trying to get the dance studio decorated for Christmas.
After three hours of class, lessons and practice, it was back to decorating. Then some more practice, dinner, and a dance party at the studio until 11.

I think that's a different salad. I've had that too

And I don't have to go back until 11:30 tomorrow.

Good night, Cilla.
-
Until then, I would at least be good to learn the lesson I'm supposed to teach in Sunday school in the morning. My class my like that.
-
Good night all
-
So. I'm going to check out, too.
-
Good night, all.

I wanted to take my new scooter to the fundraiser, but when I got it out to the car, I couldn't get the seat to come off. I tried and tried, but finally gave up.

Which lesson are you teaching? 2 Corinthians 9: 6-15 or Luke 17: 11-19. Or does the LCA use a different lectionariy than ELCA?

I won $34.00 last week.

I am home from Staples. On my way there, I ran into my best friend, Matthew, who is one of my executors in my will. He informed me that he and his partner are thin king of selling their Brooklyn co-op and relocating to San Francisco!
I may need a new executor, and the search is on.
I am sorry your friend might move away. I should think that he can execute from afar.

My gums look good and I did not need much cleaning, and my gums don't bleed in spite of having pockets. I credit the rubber gum tip I showed DR George. I will look into the closys to reduce the pockets.
-
I hate being cold, especially inside my home where I should be warm. I feel bad for DR TCB.

Thank you. It doesn't feel that cold, but my fingers get numb. Thank goodness there is heat in the bedroom.

We're back from seeing the lights and it was Shore Acres, Jane! We got there at about 4:00 pm. It wasn't very crowded and the lights were on. We walked around for a little over an hour and looked at all the wonderful lights. It was really nice...cold, but nice.
I only got there once for the lights. I'm glad that is where you went. Are you taking I-5 home tomorrow?
-
The pasta buffet was awesome. I think the tomato basil was best, but it was close.
We made pasta for dinner tonight.

On the dinner alone, we made $1590, but I have no idea what we made on the raffle and the silent auction.
It sounds like you had a good turnout. Was your niece and her family there?

Yes, they were all there.
-
Vixmom, how long will you have your temporary bridge?
I have been told it will be 6 months before they will consider putting in the implants and permanent bridge
It is a long slow process.

That seems like a long time to wait!
Unfortunately there is no guarantee they can put it the implants even then. It will depend on whether my bone has sufficiently grown back
Vibes you can have the implants!!!!
