And the word of the day is: CRWTH!
Oh, and ....... SNOW!
We got snow! Just a thin covering that only stuck to grass and some trees. But how utterly disorienting! It’s like...the beginning of winter or something. We haven’t seen snow since nearly January.
Here is a picture of an actual dried four-leaf clover that's been hanging in my kitchen for a few years. A former co-worker had it and gave it to me when she retired. :)
This morning, as soon as kitty cleanup is finished, I must head down to Dr Aronoff's office and pick up that pre-surgery prep. I have no idea how travel will go, but I will nbeed a taxi at some point.

As soon as I make the bed and take my meds, I'm off to East 57th Street/ I think I'll take the crosstown bus at 79th to Lexington and take a Lexington Avenue bus to 57th Street. I have no idea ar rtgew moment how frequently any bus is running!
Yes I am sad that I am not there for my cousin's funeral....but I think it's the best decision....
I got home from my trip and immediately took a hot bath. Everything went smoothly until I got to Columbus Circle. I lost my balance stepping off the curb and fell backward onto the sidewalk. A very kind youngish gentleman with a foreign accent helped me up by the time the taxi driver had come to my rescue. I treaded very delicately after that.
So, because of the rain, I ended up with a completely wet backside from the fall and on my way home from the doctor I got more wet waiting for a bus at 57th Street. I thought the hot bath would help.
Very glad you landed well, DR Elmore!
I like Caress.
Why would chocolate chips be a must-have item? I understand you like 'em but others? That's a demand? :) In other news, the helper told me she found everything she needs at the market.
They did not expect the Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Chips to be the first chocolate chips to disappear off of the shelves. They had everything else. Of course that is what I wanted. When I eat these I eat less chocolate overall.

They didn’t have the Ghirardelli 92%, my favorite.
Medical clearances have been faxed. Big sigh of relief.
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his millstone.

Oh. I hope you don't have to go out again for awhile.
No pain from the fall vibes!

Just sent this eBlast:
Hello, wonderful and loyal customers. As much as it pains me to have to do this, we have to take a bit of a break due to what's happening in the world. It will get better and hopefully sooner than later. This will, of course, delay shipping - I think we've only been late on shipping by a few days once since we opened our doors. Pressing plants are down and so are the printers, but our shipping department (well, our shipping person) needs to stay healthy and safe, too. We realize that it's irritating on certain levels, but we hope you'll all be patient and understanding, as we all must be right now.
We're trying to at least get the last of our orders out that we have in stock, but that will stop after today. It's hard to predict how long this will go on, but I'm a cockeyed optimist and keeping positive thoughts, always.
You can still order CDs and books at this time, which would actually be very helpful to all us labels. They just won't ship for a couple of weeks.
Please stay safe and look towards the light. Don't fall prey to panic and hysteria. Perhaps take a break from Facebook :)
We'll keep you updated and please know how thankful we all are for your loyalty and business.
I had to settle for the 96% Lindt.
DR JANE I am so sorry you can't hold your grandbaby yet.....
I had to settle for the 96% Lindt.
I wish I preferred the higher percentage. It is just too bitter for me.
What happened to everybody.
I have many sweet treats here - bite-sized Snickers, M&M's peanut and peanut butter (snack size), Milk Duds, Charleston Chews, and more. From my Rite-Aid run the other night.
Mega surgery vibes to DR Elmore, as well.
I'm sending them now as so many deliveries have been delayed.

Self control vibes ;)
Jane, I'm glad you were able to go to your doctor's appointment today. We stilll need to stay in good health, even if that's just a check-up and some assurances. I have a dental cleaning next week that I hope to keep.
I was slated to host the Robby Awards again this year, but obviously they aren't happening. So, Rob posted the winners and for the second time Kritzerland won and both times we won there is no ceremony so we don't get anything but a certificate rather than a little bus.
I read a really interesting article on pandemic control measures in Asia. SARS taught them a few things and they were prepared.

I stocked up as much as I could, which is really only 3-4 days' worth of food. I fear they will have to close completely. They offered the usual full salad bar, sandwich bar, soup bar (four soups), and juice bar, which also surprised me.

I hope they will be able to reopen if they close.
I have a fb friend in LA who did receive his delivery though much of his order wasn't available. He ordered chicken and got eggs instead.
Rob gives little buses as the award. I don't think he'd purchased them yet, so I may go get one just to have it :)

The one thing that bugs me is that these officials -- and celebrities -- who are telling everyone to stay in and not go to restaurants must have HUGE freezers and pantries. We still need to eat, and we must either purchase our food from supermarkets, which are often sold out, or restaurants. I suspect that said officials don't purchase food themselves. They have wives or partners or staff who do it. People now must go to two or three stores to obtain what they used to get in one trip.
... it's like eating five hot fudge sundaes in a row.

I know! I'm pretty sure I have enough, but I haven't seen toilet paper on any store shelves for over a week now! WTF??
Not sure of the bus history for the Robbys. This would have been a fun ceremony to host, too, as many folks I know won.

Tomorrow, I plan to go to work and pick up the cat food that I had delivered there. I've been having packages sent to my work for YEARS now, and this scheduled order was set up long before the current coronavirus situation happened. Fortunately, someone is at work to accept deliveries, so I'll go tomorrow when she's there. :)
Be back later.

I'm glad someone else shares my frustration.
I read of a toilet paper manufacturer who complained that people aren't actually USING the TP they're been buying--it's sitting in a closet. To manufacture greater quantities he'd have to pay people overtime. Good for the workers, but costly for the business.
A couple stores in the UK set up special hours (usually the first half hour before opening) for seniors to shop while there are still items on the shelves and few people. I don't know of any stores in the US doing it. Has anyone heard of special arrangements like this?
DR JOHN G & DR VIXMOM and other DRs who enjoy chili.....do you like to put corn in your chili?
I would like a little buss.
My 24 hour WalMart is now open from 6 a.m. - 11 p.m. only.
I lasted forty minutes with Motherless Brooklyn.
The movie of Motherless Brooklyn is very little like the book, except that the lead character has Tourette’s syndrome. It’s now set in 1959 instead of the 1990s, if I recall correctly, and it has the feel of a New York version of Chinatown.

There is no way I am moving that early to shop.

No. But I don’t hate it. I hate sugar in my chili.

My sentiments exactly!

I am now glad I read that endless bio of Robert Moses last year. It’s helping me understand the film version of Motherless Brooklyn. Only the character is called Moses Randolph insteps of Robert Moses.
There is no way I am moving that early to shop.Nearly out of milk and orange juice so I’ll be setting my alarm
We have a beach and a bridge named after him

Judy Kuhn alert!
Lyle Waggoner has died.
We’ve started watching Hamish MacBeth on Amazon Prime
Our nephew in Canada has been placed under 14 day quarantine as he is exhibiting “ minor flu symptoms “

Thanks, Jeanne! It actually went pretty easily. I was really just looking around and decided to get some milk. There was plenty to get, so I got one half-gallon. That's it. :)
Lyle Waggoner has died.
Oh, no. :(
I watched the rest of Motherless Brooklyn. One last comment: It helped knowing how much Robert Moses hated his family and especially his brother. It made the story in the film a little more understandable.

The author, Rhys Bowen, has another series that I quite like, the Lady Georgiana series. No adaptations of it, however.
I looked for stores with senior shopping hours. There were several listed, but none remotely near me. I then went to Ralph's website (I know, they spell it without the apostrophe). It told me that I could pick up my groceries in Indio! That's several hours away! Other Ralph's stores offer pick-up, but not the one near me. I think this must be what DR Ginny described, but the website offers no explanation. (Who proofs this website??)
I, too, find 7 am unfeasible. But for now I'm OK. I just like to know what my options are. I do need to go to Trader Joe's one day, but am dreading it. Ugh!

I like that pregnant women are included. Will you take advantage of it?
Our new opening night is now scheduled for May 1.
Well, good night.

They were published almost 11 years apart.
