Well, you're read the notes, the notes had lyrics, and now it is time for you to post until they lyrical cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TAPESTRY!

Good morning, all!
-
I was wide awake at 4:30, so I cuddled with Annabelle and Thatch until 5:15. We've all had our breakfast, and then I will ponder the day.
-
TOD
My initial reaction is that it was either Peyton Place or Lady Chatterley's Lover, both of which I read behind my parents; backs. Googling both titles, it had to be Peyton Place, since Lady Chatterley, which was a slog to get through, wasn't published in the US until 1959 or 1960. I still remember the Dell paperback cover.
-
TOD:
I'm pretty sure it was either The Godfather or Fanny Hill.
-
BK, the lyrics in the notes are wonderful.
Are they to a particular tune we'd know, or a new song you're writing?
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
TOD:
Agatha Christie: Murder in Three Acts
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm unsure of what BK means by adult novel. A novel written for adults to read, or smut? :)

-
Good morning, all.
-
As always these days, I woke too early. No particular dreams to recall at present. But the day is young.
-
I shall have to ponder the TOD.
-
I shall also have to ponder what I intend to accomplish today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
There’s a difference between adult novels and novels for adults, IMO. I don’t think Agatha Christie and Erle Stanley Gardner wrote for kids, and I devoured their books in the fifth grade. Seventh grade was when I read such books as The Godfather, The Exorcist and a few others that a neighbor loaned me. Eighth grade brought Six Days of the Condor with some graphic sex scenes. That book was available through the Scholastic Book Club.
-
Seventh was when I started reading Shakespeare. Eighth brought Jane Austen.
-
TOD:
Probably Peyton Place - the very book that DR ELMORE posted.
-
Good morning.

I inherited this book from Kerry. I wonder why he left it to me.
-
My very sweet daughter is quite distraught that she cannot get me to read books. So I probably don't have an answer for the TOD.
-
And I am distraught that I cannot get her to go outside.
-
Notes sped. Fed.
-
Loved the lyric today, BK.

From DR John:
I’m still exhausted from Saturday.
I was waiting until today to ask if you were finally rested. Also, are you staying well?

Ask your sweet daughter and let us know her response to the question.
-
And I am distraught that I cannot get her to go outside.
Unless you go to Disneyland.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
I had a little classical thing in my head when I did the lyric - very famous but I don't know the name of it.
-
By adult novel I meant not a kids book, not smut.
-
By adult novel I meant not a kids book, not smut.
I suspected as much but am glad you clarified that.
-
My first adult book I can recall reading is Exodus by Leon Uris. It seems all of my friends were reading it. I was in 6th grade and about to go to Jr. High. The biggest impact of the book for me was that it was the reason I walked up to the librarian in Jr. High and asked her to suggest books for me to read. And my passion for reading began with the help of the wonderful librarian.
-

Oh, I was instantly reminded of the title of a book you shared with Richard Sherman. (Read “Richard and Me” for more information.)

Topic of the Day: I remember getting the first Star Wars novel, Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster when I was in sixth grade. I also read The Sword of Shannara early in high school.

DR Jrand74: keep this in mind for your playwrighting. 8)

BK:
Chocolate twizzlers aside, do you prefer cherry or strawberry?
-
Cherry, always.
-
Think I'll order some more chocolate Twizzlers right now.
-
Back from a nice breakfast with R. Yacko and then a visit to a new bookstore - new to the Valley anyway - it's called The Last Bookstore and their main branch for many years is downtown. This one's in Studio City and very nice.
-
And CHEAP.

Slow day.

I still haven't read this.

Last Bookstore sounds like fun.

Cherry, always.
But Twizzlers? There are so many better brands out there.

Great name.

Yum.

We went to Costco today. I expected to see Christmas decorations but only saw large ones for Halloween. We did not walk around that part of the store so it is possible there were Christmas decorations mixed in there.
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! Another quiet day here, getting some household stuff done.
-
TOD - The Cardinal by Henry Morton Robinson. I’d been reading “malt shop” romances until my friend Christine shared her copy of the movie tie-in paperback when we were in 9th grade. The childbirth scene was especially eye-opening. Other books I remember from this era were Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk and Joy in the Morningby Betty Smith.

Finishing up a collection of Elmore Leonard’s western stories. The last is 3:10 to Yuma. Good story. But the original movie was better.

Amazon can be pretty efficient. They said RICHARD AND ME would be coming on Wednesday, but it arrived today!
-
John, those are things that grow well here. I have a variety of the second one and the third one in my yard. The first one grows here everywhere.
-
Just zoning out.
-
Need to eat something so I can take pill two.

Happy to say that Singdaw's review is finally up at Amazon. They STILL haven't fixed the issue and tomorrow if it's not fixed by the time I get up, then we have my gal get TOUGH.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anatomy of a Friendship
Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2025

In this deeply personal and touching memoir, Bruce Kimmel tells the story of his friendship with the composer Richard M Sherman. Richard and his brother Robert were the powerhouse duo behind the soundtracks of our childhoods, and the go-to team for Walt Disney.
From its improbable beginning, this friendship bloomed into something unique, creative, and beautiful, and all the details are here. A wonderful glimpse into the personality of a warm, generous, creative man who left us all a legacy of cherished memories.
A behind-the-scenes with a lot of heart. Highly recommended.
-
I also read The Sword of Shannara early in high school.
I still haven't read this.
I think it's very good. It's the first of the Shannara series. I'd read that there are 33 in the series! I've only read the first three. ::)

Cherry, always.
But Twizzlers? There are so many better brands out there.
At least, they're better than Red Vines...in my humble opinion. ;)

I'd read that during the original run of Nine she cut out the flesh-colored body suit that she'd been wearing under the see-through lace body suit. :o

I was just about to correct my post. Goodreads calls them The Original Shannara Trilogy.

Indeed, it is.

singdaw, have you seen the season finale of GRANTCHESTER yet?
Very emotional episode, much more so than I've come to expect. I had to go scrambling for tissues.
SPOILER
What a well-done cliffhanger at the end of the episode!
-
Scrambling for Tissues - a possible name for something or other
-
And my favorite comedy line: "I'm not going to tell you how much it cost, but it was five pounds!" (Borscht Belt comedy reaches GRANTCHESTER)
-
I've heard DR Freddie is coming out with a new product line... "Tissues for Issues."
-
Support him on Kickstarter.
-
Yes, we did finish the season of Grantchester. Liked it very much.
-
I have watched a lot of the TwinSauce videos. Love them!
-
We ended up binge-watching seven episodes, episodes 3 through 9, of DEPARTMENT Q, in the true sense of binge-watching. It's been a very long time since a streaming series has held us to just keep watching and watching, wanting to know what happens next.
Maybe the last time before this was the series THE RECRUIT?
-
Support him on Kickstarter.
LOL!
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Good night, singdaw!

A pecan crust
-
Watching Scarecrow. It’s good. It’s very much of its time, but the acting is excellent.
-
I'm quite lethargic this evening.
-
I am filled with ennui.
-
And also Anouilh.
-
Lethargy abounds.
-
Had a pulled pork sandwich - ordinary and no coleslaw on it, which it needed - and too damn filling.
-
I suppose I could try and watch something - was watching some YouTube true crime thing.
-
I've had my fill.
-
I've heard DR Freddie is coming out with a new product line... "Tissues for Issues."
;D
-
I finished Scarecrow, which was excellent but a bit of a downer.
-
The scene where Pacino talks to the woman he impregnated years before is a masterpiece.
-
And Gene Hackman does a hilarious striptease.
-
Then watched Paul Robson in a movie called Jericho. Interesting artifact. The singing was goosebump inducing.
-
Page turn!
-
Six!
-
Good night, all.
-
John G checks out, and I arrive to carry the baton…
-
Flying to Phoenix tomorrow morning for the Cremation Association of North America’s annual conference.
-
Drove through Phoenix in the year 1994. Have not been back since.
-
This was a random "next video" on YouTube...and because there aren't enough Laurie Beechman videos in the world, here are three worth sharing...
-
One: Laurie and Sam Harris singing "The Grass is Always Greener" (part one) originally written for Woman of the Year (but with new lyrics ;) ):
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nkk2RuLQsY (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nkk2RuLQsY)

-
Apparently, George will NEVER finish the book. I just don't get it, but that's just me.
-
I don't get page six either.
-
But that's just me.
-
The new normal.
-
Not very sporting.
-
Ridic.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
It's been VERY hot here.
-
I wouldn't mind some rain.
-
Just as a change of pace.
-
I think we should light a fire under George.
-
C'mon baby, light my fire.
-
What am I, The Doors?
-
An interesting group.
-
Right.
-
Well, I think we might be close.
-
Could be.
-
Who knows?
-
See?
-
Now get me off this damn page.
