Today's epic is unrolling slowly. I am watching both parts of Henry IV on my computer. I found an excellent production online but it was transferred from VHS to youtube, complete with some tics of age and a certain fuzziness of image.

We've had a lazy day.  I worked for a bit until Thatch decided he wanted to be petted and loved on top of the score I was writing.  So, we went to lie down, Stella joined us, and we fell asleep listening to Ravel.  I juswt got up to unpack the food carton that arrived around 9:30: roasted potatoes, brussels sprouts, grilled chicken strips, juice, milk, and bread.

Greetings!   I went to the farmer's market today.  I heard they were going to insist people follow their social distancing etc rules.  Well, there were a lot of people who were, but there were groups that were definitely not following them.  They said no animals (I'm guessing so people won't come up and pet them and get close to people) but people had their dogs.  They said stay 6 feet apart and people where gathered in the middle of the walkway with babies. Chatting with other friends with babies, no one wearing a mask.   I wore a mask as did many others.  All the vendors wore masks and had everything marked off where they wanted you to stand etc.   I bought some leaf lettuce, heirloom tomatoes and kohlrabi and got the heck out of there.

Then I went to the grocery store.  Not the one I usually go to, but this one has the treats the cats like, so I go there occasionally.  Anyway, people were being very good.  Almost everyone was wearing a mask, it wasn't crowded, but the prices! They have really raised them, especially on paper products.  I needed paper towels and since they had my brand of tp and I don't have much left I got that too. When I got home I felt like I'd run the gauntlet.  What used to be an enjoyable Saturday morning has turned into a lot of work

It's going to rain here soon.  Well it looks ike it and it was supposed to be raining all day, but it's not here yet.  I was going to spray paint my deck table, but I know the minute I start it will start raining. I supposed I could do it in the garage and leave the car out, but if I do that it will probably hail, so I'll just wait until tomorrow or Monday

Tomorrow morning a guy is coming over to fix some places the flashing is coming off around the door to my Juliette balcony.  he's going to replace some shake shingles that are up there too.  I really hate the shakes, but I have some left from the roof of the gazebo, so we might as well replace the bad ones.  They won't match the other side of the house, but you don't see them all at once and in a couple years these will weather and they'll look fine

I could have him replace all of them, but I don't think it's necessary. Only the south and west side look bad

I want to get the rust off the rest of the patio furniture so I can paint that too.  It's a nice 7 piece Martha Stewart set I bought at a rummage sale a couple years ago for $100. It's in good shape except around the top of the table and some of the chairs have rust spots.  I found some Rustolium spray paint that matches so a little sanding and a little spraying and it should look like new.

I was just about asleep last night at 2:00 am when Boo started puking.  Oh joy.  I've been worried about her, but she's a real diva and knows what to do to get her way.  Anyway, I got up and made sure she was ok. by 7:00 am she was in my room  howling for food.  I didn't get up right away so she won't do it every day, but I also didn't get back to sleep

So, I was stressing about the vet and stressing about Boo.  This morning she was acting like she was on her last leg....so I said "Let's go get some food to eat" she jumped up and made a b-line for the kitchen where she jumped up on the counter and posed all cute-like.  After she ate she pranced across the room and curled up to take a nap.   She's fine

My new neighbor is adding on to his deck and installing a hot tub.   It's on the side of the house that I can't see.  I'm good with that.

Oh did I mention that the outdoor concerts that have been driving me crazy for the past 4 or 5 years are cancelled for the season?  They are 35 blocks away, but I can hear the booming bass with my windows shut and ac on.  It may not be all bad if I could hear the whole song, but no it's like a huge boom box that just booms on and on. It's terrible.    Sorry for the people who liked the concerts, but glad I'll have a quieter summer.

Speaking of tornados, I just happen to be wearing my Joplin Strong t-shirt.  May 22 will be 9 years since that one.  My sister and her family live there...well my sister lived there, her family still does. Jon's friend Joe was right in the middle of the worst of it, his house was demolished while he was wrapped in a blanket in his closet trying to keep the door shut.  He was very lucky to survive.

We used to pop into the market for a few items as we needed them.  Not necessarily fun but certainly not stressful.  We try to shop at the stores where both the employees and shoppers are thoughtful about wearing masks.

That is a relief.  I wouldn't want to see or hear them.

DR Cilla I noticed the customer at the barber shop was not wearing a mask, which means your friend the barber is not protected.  Has he asked his customers to wear one?

Starting Henry IV Part 2. This production was staged at the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, which is where I spent many a summer night in high school. Feels good to be virtually back home.

It amazes me to see an actor in this production named Monte Priddy. He has been doing Shakespeare in the Park since 1961. He was the Falstaff in the most wonderful production of Merry Wives of Windsor I have seen. He is playing Shadow here. But I knew that voice, that delivery the moment he opened his mouth.
