Back in 1960, when I was a freshman in the University of Washington Drama Dept, we did a one-hour adaptation of
HAMLET for the university's educational television channel.
It was conceived and directed by the late Rod Whitaker, who among other things, wrote
THE EIGER SANCTION (1975) with Clint Eastwood. Marian Hailey (
LOVERS & OTHER STRANGER, as well as
HARVEY with Jimmy Stewart and Helen Hayes) played "Ophelia".
David Seidler, who won an Oscar for writing
THE KING'S SPEECH, was "Claudius".
I was "Osric".
Several years ago, I tried to get a video of the production, but it no longer exists.
