We get another three-day stretch of 90+ degrees Fahrenheit starting tomorrow.

A summer from Hell.

George, the Stourbridge Junction Railway Station Cat, is one of my major Facebook sites. I love today's photo of him

It usually takes us an hour to get out of the parking lot after a show. We were out in about 10 minutes after Oklahoma! The big rush was at intermission.

Laura, when that Oklahoma was on tour, did they serve chili and cornbread at intermission like they did on Broadway?

AI's description of the chili and cornbread at the "Oklahoma!" revival

In the Broadway revival of "Oklahoma!", chili and cornbread are served to the audience during intermission. This unique experience, inspired by the show's setting in the Oklahoma Territory, provides a taste of the time period and a welcome respite from the intense performance. Eater reports that the chili is even offered in a vegan-friendly version to accommodate all theatergoers.

The chili intermission is a distinctive feature of this particular production of "Oklahoma!". It's not a standard practice for all Broadway shows, but it's a popular element of this revival, drawing attention and praise. The Wall Street Journal notes that the chili also serves as a convenient meal replacement for some theatergoers.

The "Oklahoma!" production also utilizes other unconventional staging elements, such as having the band onstage and blurring the lines between audience and performer, making the chili an integral part of the immersive experience.

It must have been very expensive to do at every performance.  With or without the vegan chili option.

Not that I saw, Freddie. Gammage holds about 3000 people, so I don't think they'd be able to do that.

That makes sense.  The theedur it was in on Broadway, the Circle in the Square, is one if the smallest on Broadway.

There's already enough trash left behind at Gammage Theater from the booze and the sweets. I remember when going to the theater was special -- not like going to the movies.

Although chili and cornbread is a pretty good gimmick.

Kinda like when I saw the Hoop De Doo Revue at Disney World’s Frontierland. Mid-show, the cast marched on stage (to the music) with metal buckets of fried chicken and started marching out into the audience, serving all the tables.

With all the times we went to Disney World, we never saw the Hoop De Doo Revue.  Was the Hoop De Doo Revue a separate admission, or included with admission to one of the theme parks?

Reserve ticket show that happened in a theater out on Frontier Island where people camp and stay in cabins. We had to take a boat from the main park over there.

Happy Sunday....On this week's Broadway Radio Show, a look back at the history of musicals at Broadway's Plymouth Theatre, now known as the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.  Since it opened way back in 1917, it's hosted the premieres of works by some of the greatest playwrights, but as the decades passed, more and more musicals debuted at the Plymouth, including several Tony Award winners!

We missed that.

There had been what sounds like a similar type of add-on marketing adventure, I mean experience, set-up for the Polynesian Luau at the Polynesian Village Resort, which we went to when we stayed at that resort.

Google says they closed down the luau in 2020, though.
