Claude Rains.

There is a bumper on TCM that is narrated by Richard Chamberlain who talks about working with Claude Rains in Twilight Of Honor.

My favorite moment in Casablanca - one of many - is when Rains comes in to answer a complaint about gambling in Rick's and claims to be "shocked....shocked." At that moment a croupier comes up and hands him some money: "Your winnings, sir."

Rains pockets the money says thank you and continues to be shocked.  LOL....

A moment that's beyond perfection.

They don't write 'em, cast 'em, or deliver 'em like that any more.

I'm in talks about writing a 20-25 minute ballet this weekend. Something satirical.

Hmmm . . .

From DR George:

Quote
It definitely is.  I really enjoyed my time at the library, especially (most of ;) ) the people, but I realized that I needed to make a change.  I just didn't have a plan at the time.

Do you have one now or are you simply enjoying your life as it is?

Correction, I see that you answered to John.

We did the casino carpet tour in Las Vegas last summer. Sadly, the carpets had all been replaced with less tacky versions. They weren't as much fun as they used to be.

DR George, your quiet retirement explains the answer to my question why you were up so late the other day. I hope you enjoy the freedom.

Thanks, Larry.  With all family goings on, there hasn't actually been much freedom lately. ::)

DRs, my move to New York was prompted in 1979 by my friend Eugene Sher, who had moved to Manhattan with Peggy, his girlfriend at the time. Eugene moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s, where he died far too young, and Peggy and I have remained friends for years; I've seen her get married to Peter Salwen, raise two sons and occasional cat, run different children's libraries for the NYPL, and she is now heading toward the great unknown, thanks to ALS.

Please send good vibes and prayers to Peggy and Peter.

But it made me think of you!     8)

I guess tacky carpet sightings will be my legacy.

For which you must be very proud, I'm sure.
