All right, for Charles and anyone else who is interested. The tuna pasta salad could not be easier to make. As follows.

Cook one pound of large elbow pasta - I usually just get Anthony's - it works perfectly and it's cheap. Once cooked, drain in a strainer. Then rinse with cold water, colder the better, so you get all the heat out of the pasta and it feels room temperature or a bit colder. Put that in your serving bowl.

Add the tuna - I use Bumble Bee Prime solid white albacore in water - do NOT use tuna in oil. Nyet. Open the can and with a fork, flake the tuna as you add it to the pasta - don't just dump it in there. Once that's in, use your largest mixing spoon - shouldn't look like a spoon - you know, those big thing you'd serve with. I'm sure they have a name but it's eluding me at the moment. Anyway, once the tuna is mixed in you can chop a red onion. I use less than half a medium size red onion - must be red and you must chop it finely - they should look like tiny bits of red onion - if it's too thickly chopped it overwhelms everything.

Once chopped, dump it in an again, mix it all in with the tuna and pasta so that it's evenly mixed. Then add two to three tablespoons of Best Foods mayo (or Hellman's) - NOT ANY OTHER KIND. Mix that in thoroughly. Add a liberal amount of salt and pepper and mix that in. Cover the top with aluminum foil and put in the refrigerator. I find it best to do all that the night before you're going to eat it.

Then, the next day, when you're ready to serve and eat, add at least two more tablespoons of mayo - may need three, but start with two - the mayo from the night before will have been absorbed. Mix that in thoroughly and serve away. You can salt to taste when you're eating and it does need some salt. That's it. Simple as pie. I usually eat half throughout that first day, then half the next day - if you do the same, simply add two more tablespoons of mayo the second day and mix in thoroughly and eat away.

Now I feel like making it today. IF you want to eat it the same day you make it, which I've done every now and then - instead of putting it in the refrigerator, I put the serving bowl in the freezer for about fifteen minutes. That chills it pretty good. Then I serve.

Excitement for the actors - it's like pulling teeth there to get people to audition, especially when the rehearsals take place during the holiday season, but I've solved that problem and I want them to know that.

Sounds wonderful.

Just one can of tuna? And you don't need to drain the water it's packed in?

Do you mean a slotted spoon? (My standard favorite mixing tool for many things.)

Fortunately, we had NO AUDITIONS for this holiday show, since everyone's done it and likes to keep doing it and they leave their calendars clear for it every other year. A luxury. As are the rehearsals. There's nothing else quite like it.

Other than this one, though, everything is indeed like pulling teeth.

That's a nice simple tuna pasta salad. The only thing I'd add is chopped celery and maybe celery salt. I like simple chicken and tuna salad.

I haven't ordered one yet, and I just now noticed that it says Super Audio CD. What attributes are taking advantage of that? Multi-channel sound?

Edit:  Or maybe that's what Super Audio CD always means.

I just watched the most wonderful documentary about Room 8, the cat who for sixteen years never missed a day of school at Elysian Heights Elementary in Los Angeles.

Thanks for this. I shall write about it in a pet cemetery theme issue I’m doing in January.

There were the Gray’s Papaya hot dog places in NYC. “Better than a filet mignon.” That always got me, brilliant ad line. But the dogs always underwhelmed.

I had a major brain fart this morning: I kept reading the posts and thinking, this sounds familiar. When I got to the post about Rupert the dancing cat, I realized I had read the posts yesterday morning. I am now caught up. Oy!

Welcome to the posts of the present, Larry!

When I picked up the mail yesterday morning, there was a disturbing one that needs immediate action this morning, so I expect to be tied up in a bureaucratic telephone call most of the morning.

Good luck with it all, Larry! :-\

As I think about it now, I still don't get hot dogs when I'm out, for the most part. The Costco one for $1.50 with "soda" is still fun to have once in a while, but two things have diminished it:  they changed from Coke (my lifelong favorite) to Pepsi, and they stopped having onions in addition to relish, mustard, and ketchup. I keep meaning to complain about that, but I'm sure that no matter their reason, the complaint will be meaningless to them. But I should still do it, in person and online. Right? Right.

<SNIP>

I really like the Costco dogs, although they used to have (I think) Hebrew National, now it's the Kirkland brand (which I still quite enjoy), but I did prefer the Polish dogs, which are no longer available in their deli.

And although I do prefer diet Pepsi, the mix isn't as good as the flavor from the cans.  And both the local Costcos have little cups of raw onions, so those are available around here. :)

I haven't had too many "exotic" dogs, but I remember getting a footlong dog at the Key arena during a Seattle Storm women's basketball game that had a unique combination of toppings that I thought was pretty good...but I can't remember what they were.

When I picked up the mail yesterday morning, there was a disturbing one that needs immediate action this morning, so I expect to be tied up in a bureaucratic telephone call most of the morning.

Vibes for an easy resolution!

Thank you. I'm on the New York HRA (Human Resources Administration) program for help with utilities, food, and Medicaid. I had to be recertified byan application and submission of documents running from birth certificate and Social Security card to proof of SS and pension payments, bank statement, and rent receipt. I re-application was accepted in late July, and I had until Sept. 30 to submit my copies of documents. So, yesterday there was a piece of mail from HRA telling me that I was turned down for HRA assistance because I had not submitted my documents by Sept. 15 - not Sept. 30!  So, I needed to speak to an agent ASAP.

NOOOOOOO!!!
