Nice photo of the old man aka  Henry Jekyll's father.
I especially like the photo of the "patron of the arts"

Thanks, and Thanks!

I'm still alive but the morning has been one hell followed by another. The HRA has denied my food stamps since my monthly income is more than the $1,300/month it has decided is the limit for their clients. At the moment I need groceries, cat food, and kitty litter, none of which I can purchase.

Nooooooo!!! :(

Ah. I also have As I Lay Dying.

I haven't looked to see if I have other movies based on Faulkner.

I confess I have never seen the film of The Sound and the Fury before.
I have read the book several times and loved it. Even wanted to make an opera out of it, with the overture being Benjy’s story. I saw a stage full of clocks for Quentin’s story since he’s running out of time.

It does seem like great fodder for an opera.

That "several times" is certainly impressive! I just looked, and I don't have it. I only have Go Down, Moses and the Viking Portable Library which I believe is short stories and maybe some miscellaneous writings.

I read it for myself first. Then I had to read it for a class. That may be it.

Samantha Eggar has died. I liked her in the iffy Double Indemnity remake.

I best know her from The Collector which I've seen and loved multiple times over the years, and Dr. Dolittle which I only saw once back in the day.

A question for anyone who frequents the IMDb:

Does that site take way longer to load for you than it used to? Fairly recently, I mean. I'm seeing this on all my devices, so I'm pretty sure it's not just me. It's ridiculous, especially when the site first loads, the amount of lag before you can even type in your search word(s). But does anyone else notice that as well?

I know they've never stopped whoring it up over the years, but whatever they've done recently (probably adding more fancy ads 'n shit) is bogging it down something horrible.

They want you to use the app.

Oy! Dare I confess to not having seen any of those? The Before... movies or I'll See You In My Dreams?

(Confession #3. That's about enough confessin' for one day.)

Sure, it's not like these were blockbusters or anything. More to look forward to!

I haven't seen the last Before movie as it didn't sound like a continuation of the story that I wanted to see.

Zeffirelli will always be my favorite R/J.

Amazing how everybody knew what the great one was of those three.  :)

Mine, too. The MGM film is really bad.

The one with the ancient Norma Shearer as a 14-year-old? Ludicrous.

Leslie Howard as Romeo was even older and just as ludicrous.

But at least they could speak the text, which is more than could be said for the Juliet in the 2017 version.

Now we have to watch (or rewatch) movies at home this week so that we're prepared to discuss great scenes at next week's class. We have a list of 21 to choose from. Normally we'd just have to see one, but since my wife and I are both taking the class we'll need to see two if we watch them together.

Anyone familiar with the 1954 Laurence Harvey Romeo?

I think that was the first one I ever saw, on TV in the early 1960s. I recorded scenes from it on my "Crowncorder" 5"-reel portable tape recorder (the main memory I associate with that recorder).
