THE DISAPPEARING TOES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, our upcoming Halloween bash is coming up very soon – I, myself, am still deciding on my costume for this gala event here at haineshisway.com. We must have photos galore and lots of treats, too. Perhaps we’ll even have some tricks, like the Disappearing Toes. That’s a wonderful trick. One minute the toes are there, the next minute the toes are gone. How does it happen? We cannot reveal our trick secrets so don’t even ask. Just be amazed at the Disappearing Toes trick. Well, I think the best question to ask at this particular moment is – what the hell am I talking about?

Yesterday, I met with Marcy the Marketing Lady and we hit it off quite well and she’ll be spending the next two months helping me market my book, get it into stores, book signings and whatever else she can do to muster interest. I told her I will go mostly anywhere to sign, but that we should try to do a two week period where I can fly from city-to-city. To make it more enticing for the bookstores, I will also perform the Disappearing Toes for their wonder and amazement. Marcy has quite a lot of marketing experience, having worked for Random House, Warner Books, and Disney’s publishing arm. I have the feeling she’s a real go-getter.

Yesterday was one of “those” days, when I just ate and ate and ate. I had a Chinese Chicken Salad for lunch, then ate scrambled eggs in a tortilla for dinner (homemade and quite nauseating), then I had some potato salad, then I had some kind of pound cake. I guess in the scheme of things it’s not all that much, but it sure felt like it. Today I shall be taking it easy, food-wise and I shan’t eat a big meal again until our Halloween celebration here on Sunday. Perhaps I’ll dress up as Daisy Mae.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I have many things to do this very day and I must begin to do them. I must not tarry or dally or even dally or tarry.

Speaking of Halloween, last night I purchased many bags of candies to give out to the neighborhood trick or treaters. I’ve been saying that this rainly spell we’ve been having is quite unusual, but then I remembered that last Halloween it rained and I think I even wrote about it here. We had very few trick or treaters that night. Hopefully, the rain will have gone to Spain by Sunday.

I must say these last few days have been going very fast. I get up, do some writing, do some errands and suddenly it’s evening. It’s like I can’t keep up with the day. But I shall try, because one simply must keep up with the day, otherwise the day gets all uppity and full-of-itself and becomes insufferable.

Tonight I’m going to the home environment of the fellow who edited the What If footage. I’m hoping we can sit and watch it together and that he’ll take notes and make the adjustments I’d like. We’ll see how it goes.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must write, I must pay a bill or two, I must eat lightly, and then I must hie myself to the Land of Sun. Today’s topic of discussion: All about magic. Tell us your favorite tricks, what famous magicians you’ve seen, what their most astounding tricks have been, and what tricks you’ve actually done. And no revealing The Disappearing Toes secret. Let’s have loads of lovely postings shall we? In fact, let’s magically have many more postings than usual – that will be an excellent trick and no one will know how we did it.
