WHY IS THIS NIGHT DIFFERENT FROM ALL OTHER NIGHTS?

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had quite the Passover last night. It was quite Jewish around these here parts, and it may have just been the oddest Passover fest I’ve ever attended. I’d gotten a wonderful night’s sleep the night before, and I was quite chipper upon awakening. The day was beautiful, so I jogged a mile-and-a-half, then did some cleaning up of the home environment, then did some errands. Tammy and Lauren then came over and we went to Gelson’s and did the shopping. Tammy then had to go back to work (she first prepared the Pot Roast for cooking), and Lauren began preparing all her dishes. I sat at my laptop like so much fish and wrote a couple of pages, but found it too hard to concentrate. Tammy came back a bit later, and they finished doing all that they needed to do. Then everyone else arrived and we sat down to our Passover feast. We attempted some semblance of a ceremony – we read a few pages from the Passover book, said a few prayers, did the plague thing, asked the four questions (well, five – I added “And when do we eat?”) and then ate. The Pot Roast was excellent, and so was a cinammon-flavored kugel. We also had gefilte fish and kasha, and it was quite yummilicious. Tammy wasn’t feeling well – a bit too much pre-dinner wine on an empty stomach, so she didn’t eat much, and then she crashed on my couch. The others helped put stuff in garbage bags, and then I rinsed all the dishes and got them in the dish washer. Everyone but Tammy left, and I finished doing the pots and pans and got the kitchen clean. As I write these here notes, Tammy is still on the couch like so much fish – I’m trying to let her sleep as much as possible, because I want her to be completely okay if she’s going to drive home. All in all, it was a faboo evening and we all had fun. And we answered the eternal question: Why is this night different from all other nights? It was something about bread, that’s all I remember.

Last night, I watched zero count them zero motion pictures on DVD, but I will try to catch up at some point or, at the very least, I will try to ketchup at some point. I also talked to my editor, who got all the way up to the pivotal ending of act one, at which point he stopped, because he wants me there for the editing of that. We’ll continue on Saturday, I believe.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because today is a very busy day and I must get my beauty sleep so that I may be beautifully beautiful.

Tammy is now safe and sound at home – she was really feeling under the weather. I forgot to mention that our very own Vinnie came over and set up my new mini-hard drive – what a marvelous tiny little device – all 100 gigs of it. He configured it (with the aid of some software) so that once a week my computer’s hard drive will update onto the mini-drive. Yes, Virginia, the entire hard drive of my laptop is now backed up onto this mini-drive. Additionally, he set it up so that once a night it will backup whichever documents I’ve been working on – all that gives me a lot of comfort, knowing that if something terrible were to happen, everything on my computer would be saved. I recommend this to everyone.

Today, I’ve got to do several important errands, have a couple of important meetings, and then, at some point later this evening, I’ll go visit newly-arrived dear reader Hisaka. I’ve got quite a few things planned for her, including a dinner with the divoon Julieanne Pogue, and an evening at the Gardenia on Saturday.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, try to write a couple of extra pages, to make up for the couple I should have done yesterday on top of the couple I did do yesterday, I must try to keep my wits about me in the midst of all the stuff I’m doing, and I must make certain that I’m not forgetting anything I need to do. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the best hotel you’ve ever stayed in? Please describe in detail everything you loved about it. My favorite was the Helmsley Palace (I think that’s what it was called). I’m not sure I remember exactly where in New York it was, but Madison springs to mind. The rooms were beautiful, they really had incredible service, and they had the most sinfully sinful White Chocolate Mousse, which I had before bedtime every night during my stay. That was my hotel of choice for the longest time. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we?
