BREAKING NEWS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s Saturday. I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you find such information? Nowhere, that’s where. And, in breaking news, tomorrow is Sunday. You may spread the word, but remember to say that you heard it here first. I tell you, this here site is on the cutting edge. I don’t know what that means but I like the sound of it. Speaking of the sound of it, yesterday was a nice little day. For example, I spent the morning hours with Mr. Grant Geissman going over our little upcoming project for the Music Center. After I left him, I came home, jogged, worked at the piano, and gave grades to the students who were in the musical theater workshop (MTW). After that, I did some errands, then relaxed, then toddled off to see Fuddy Mears at LACC. I did have quite a few interesting telephonic conversations as well. And that was my day and evening, for after the show I came home and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I saw a play entitled Fuddy Mears. It’s a strange little play, quite popular with the populace from what I understand. It’s a quirky piece, which reminded me of some early 60s quirky pieces. In fact, it’s a little too quirky for its own good, and is typical of today’s comedy playwriting. But, I was very impressed with the production itself – the actors all did a fine job and the staging was clever and the whole thing moved right along. Some of my students were there, so it was nice to see them.

Yesterday, I also managed to watch a motion picture on DVD entitled The Wings of Eagles, another John Ford/John Wayne film, this one the story of Navy man Frank “Spig” Wead. It’s not my favorite Ford film – it just sort of meanders along, and then it ends. Wayne is very good, Maureen O’Hara is very pretty, but I just got impatient with it and couldn’t wait for it to end. The transfer, however, is very nice.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because, in breaking news, I have more to write in the next section.

Here is the breaking news: As I type these words I am eating a low-fat Wheat Thin. If that isn’t a reason to stop the presses then I don’t know what is.

Today I shall have a “me” day and do nothing but jog and relax, not necessarily in that order. Oh, I have to approve final packaging designs for the Deceit DVD, but other than that I don’t think I really have much of anything else going on. And I’m jiggy with that.

Tomorrow, however, I do have a lovely brunch to attend at my pal John Scott’s house, and I’m looking forward to it. Then, on Monday, I must attend to many things, make many decisions, and prepare for the editing of the Kevin Spirtas DVD.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do only the things that I wish to do, when I wish to do them, and other than that, all I wish to do is sit on my couch like so much fish and watch DVDs and eat a reasonable assortment of foodstuffs. Today’s topic of discussion: Are sites such as this one becoming dinosaurs because of this thing called myspace.com? Is that where it’s all heading, or is that just a fad of the moment? I’ve visited it once and I got a huge headache from it. Are we too connected? Do people actually do anything anymore, besides text messaging, IMing, e-mailing, and cell phoning each other twenty-four hours a day? What kind of world has this become? That is the topic, so go for it, baby, go for it. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst in breaking news I shall go sit on my couch like so much fish.
