THE IMPONDERABLES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, as I sit here pondering the imponderables I have realized that the imponderables are not to be pondered because, being imponderables they are imponderable no matter how much you ponder them. So, now that I am through pondering the imponderables, I shall write these here notes. I was trying to write these here notes but the damn imponderables kept getting in the way, with their needy needs of always being pondered. Damn them, damn them all to hell. Someday I’ll address the imponderables – in fact, I’ll address them right now.

What the HELL am I talking about? Don’t I have notes to write? Isn’t it getting rather late to be pondering that which will not be pondered? I wonder if Hoss ever pondered the imponderables on the Ponderosa? Speaking of the Ponderosa (and who wasn’t), yesterday was a wacky little day. I got up a little later than usual, found out the Sean McDermott noon lunch was being pushed to dinner on Tuesday, at which point I did some writing, a little over three pages, and revising what I’d written the day before. I then printed out the pages, had them Xeroxed and then brought them to muse Margaret for her mental delectation. I came back home and did the long jog, during which I had a major inspiration attack and thought of the entire last third of my book, at least the skeleton of how it’s going to go. That pleased me very much and when I got home I wrote it all down quickly. I’ve been worrying over the last third and wondering when it was all going to come to me and the timing couldn’t have been better since I am now in the last third of the book, in fact, in the last 100 pages of the book. I then wrote three more pages. Muse Margaret then called and gave her Seal Of Approval on the new pages – she only had four tiny little things she thought should get adjusted, all of which I did immediately. I suppose I’m now in the home stretch of the book, although there are still roughly eight chapters to go. I mentioned on Saturday that I was having a blast writing a character and I’m happy to say that Margaret loved that character and laughed out loud at his dialogue – that, too, made me very happy. After that, I got some foodstuffs from Gelson’s, and then sat on my couch like so much fish and ate it all up.

Yesterday, I watched a motion picture on DVD entitled OSS 117: Cairo, Nest Of Spies, a spy spoof from France that was recommended highly by a couple of our dear readers. I found a lot of it very amusing, and even when the humor wasn’t really landing it was fun to watch. The leading man has a real Sean Connery look to him – they’ve got the hair and eyebrows perfect. The music is very kicky and Bondian, and some of it is very droll indeed. The film looks great on DVD and can be had pretty inexpensively via amazon.

After watching the motion picture on DVD, I began entering the final Nudie Musical fixes and changes from David, so that he’d have the most current script in which to enter the final four things he’s been working on. I began at around six-thirty and thought it would take me an hour or so. I didn’t finish until ten o’clock – so much for having the evening to myself.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because the imponderables are needing to be pondered and I’m not having any of it.

Today, I have way too much to do and I’m going to have to make the time to do it all. I intend to do the long jog, I have to do one quick annoying errand early, then I have to go to Druxy’s to pick up some DVDs, then I have to do my writing for the day, and I want to do at least six pages, and I’m going into a chapter that’s not going to be that easy, as a lot of things will be going on, plot-wise. Then, at seven, I’m meeting our very own Mr. Brent Barrett for dinner in the Los Feliz area. We haven’t had a meal in several years, so it will be really nice to catch up or, at the very least, ketchup.

Tomorrow, I have to do my writing, then I have to do some other business that I need to get done and will have a helper over helping me do it, then I’ll be supping and having a work session with Mr. Sean McDermott. Wednesday I have a work session with Adryan Russ to go over lyrics for the musical she’s writing and that I’m directing. And Friday, I’m hoping to attend the opening night at the Pasadena Playhouse, a show called Stormy Weather about Lena Horne, starring Miss Leslie Uggams.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, do an early brief annoying errand, visit Druxy, write at least six pages, and then sup with Brent Barrett. Today’s topic of discussion: The spy movie genre has always been one of my favorites – whether serious or comical. What are your all-time favorite spy movies, both serious and comical? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and let’s not let any of those pesky imponderables make an appearance, lest we have to ponder them.
