WHAT’S GOOD FOR THE GOOSE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. I don’t know what that means but I like the sound of it. However, is what’s good for the gander also good for the goose? And just what IS good for the goose anyway? Frankly, I don’t understand any of it – the goose, the gander, the good, the bad, and the ugly. What the HELL am I talking about? Geese? Ganders? If geese is the plural of goose why isn’t geenders the plural of ganders? These are the questions that are roaming around the windmills of my mind. That is because I’m in a haze of a daze and my mind is a maze because of all the Coldeez and the EmergenC and the Mucinex and the NyQuil – trying to fight that which must be fought. I do hope I’m winning the fight because there is simply too much that needs doing and I have no time for sickness. Speaking of sickness, yesterday was a day in which I tried not to be sick. I got up and tried not to be sick. I then went to a four-and-a-half hour editing session and tried not to be sick. The session went well and we got through just about everything. The editor now has to go into the pickups we did at the end of the show and insert whatever fixes are necessary. Then we’ll watch the whole thing top to bottom, I’ll finesse whatever needs finessing, and then we’ll show it to the boys and let them give their notes. After we do said notes, then the picture will be locked and we’ll do a sound mix and lay that back to picture. I’m hoping that if we’re all happy with the result that we could have it available for sale by the end of April. I then came home, did some work on the LACCTAA newsletter, then had some Pasta Papa at Hugo’s. Then I came home and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture entitled Rome Adventure, starring Mr. Troy Donohue, Miss Angie Dickenson, Mr. Rosanno Brazzi, and introducing Suzanne Pleshette. The only problem with the latter credit is that Miss Pleshette was “introduced” four years earlier in The Geisha Boy. But, that never stopped Warner Bros. from some shameless huckstering. It’s a pleasant film, but very slight. However, for this release, they should have retitled this film Brown Adventure. Rome Adventure was printed in IB Technicolor on its release – the film is essentially a travelogue and the location footage was eye-popping and gorgeous in those Tech prints. What we have here is yet another Warners brown mess. It’s not that there isn’t color, it’s just the wrong color – it’s flat and ugly with little blue and way too much brown/yellow. It’s a shame that we’re now stuck with this transfer for what will probably be the only release of this film.

After the motion picture, I had some shocking revelations to deal with and deal with them I shall. I don’t know about you, but I do not like shocking revelations – they are a blight and must not be tolerated in any way, shape, or form.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must continue the good fight and not get sick before our reading tomorrow night.

Have I mentioned that what’s good for the goose is also good for the gander? Today shall be a very busy day. I’ll get up early, do the long jog if I’m feeling up to it, and then go to Mr. Grant Geissman’s to record the tracks for the Nudie Musical demo. That should take most of the afternoon, and then I believe we’ll grab a bite to eat. After that, I’ll pick up fifteen copies of the Nudie Musical script and then I’ll come home and begin highlighting them for the actors.

Tomorrow, I’ll continue highlighting and then relax before the informal reading. I’m very much looking forward to it, and only pray that my voice holds out so I can sing the score and actually be heard.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog (if possible), I must record tracks, I must pick up scripts, and I must highlight. Today’s topic of discussion: When did you get your first cell phone or car phone? What brand was it, what did it look like, and how did it impact your life? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do remember that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander and the fershluganah gander is about to find that out.
