BUT I NEVER OWNED A LEISURE SUIT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week is really flying by, like a gazelle in a Nehru jacket. How many of you dear readers owned a Nehru jacket? I know I did, and I also had a really gear Carnaby cap. Then again, I also had a Harold Hill jacket, you know, with a belt. But I never owned a leisure suit. But I Never Owned A Leisure Suit – that’s the title of my next novel, a searing story of searing passions and emotions between a father with a Nehru jacket and his freewheeling son who owns a gear Carnaby cap in the Swinging 60s. Together they go in search of the perfect wave, which they find in Des Moines – a man is waving to his pet beaver and it is, in a word, the perfect wave. Well, that’s three words. What the HELL am I talking about? Don’t I have notes to write? Don’t they have to be posted in a mere five minutes? I do, and they do, and I shall and they shall, not necessarily in that order. Yesterday was quite an okay day – neither here nor there, but a day that moved along at a steady pace. I got up early but since it was quite gray and overcast I opted out of the jog. Instead, I caught up on e-mails and then had to be on my way for a work session for the long musical. That was a good work session and lasted a little over three hours, at which time I beat the traffic and got over the Harold hill pronto (otnorp, spelled backwards). I came home, attended to a couple of things, and then went to Jerry’s Deli for my usual small turkey sandwich and fries, which I wolfed down as I was starving. I then picked up a package, then came home, where I did various and sundried things, after which I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched six more episodes of Lost, Season Two – in fact, rather astonishingly, I only have two episodes left. There were a couple of really terrific episodes, and one of those patented Alias-type endings to one which was a real shocker – I love when they get that stuff right. On the other end of the Lost spectrum was probably the worst episode I’ve seen, at least it was for me – and it involved a character whose storylines I always enjoy – Hurley. But this episode was just ridiculous, although I’m sure our Lost fans somehow got with it – I just couldn’t, and I almost skipped forward once I realized I was basically watching Hurley and “Harvey.” But, they can’t all be brilliant, and soon thereafter came the episode with the terrific ending and one was hooked for everything that came thereafter.

I also took a ride in the motor car, since the night had cooled off and I needed a little me time. I then came home, watched more episodes, and the realized it was time to write these here notes.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I suddenly have an urge to wear a Nehru jacket, a Carnaby cap, but not a leisure suit, which, by the way (BTW, in Internet lingo), I never owned.

Today is going to be a very long and involved day. I have to get up really early, do the long jog, and then go pick up a LOT of tapes, which I then have to bring to the tape transfer fellow – we’ll listen to what we need to listen to, and then he has to do one transfer immediately, since it involves the release we’re announcing next week. Since this is from a previously released CD (half of the two-fer is, anyway), we tried using that CD as our master, but I was really unhappy with the sound and I’m just pretty certain we can do better by going back to the album masters and starting from scratch. As most of you know, I’m maniacal that our CDs sound as good as they possibly can, so, for me, it’s worth it to go the extra mile. After that, I have a two or three hour work session, and then I’ll grab a bite to eat.

The book work session which was supposed to happen last night, was pushed to tomorrow night, so that’s when that will get done. Since I’ll be finished with Season Two of Lost by the weekend, I’ll catch up on some movies that I’ve been wanting to watch, including the new Blu-Ray of Repulsion, as well as something called Watchmen.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, pick up tapes, hear some tapes, have a rehearsal, sup, and then finish Lost, Season Two. Today’s topic of discussion: What were or are your all-time favorite clothing fads, and what clothing are you ashamed to admit that you owned? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and do remember that I never owned a leisure suit.
