Well, dear readers, this week is flying by, like a gazelle with the swine flu. Did you know that the word flu spelled backwards is ulf? Just asking. I am quite tired as I begin these here notes because I have not stopped since I got up at nine yesterday morning. It was a day of go, go, go (that is three go’s), do, do, do (that is three do’s), and work, work, work (that is three works). The Bananas CDs arrived at nine-fifteen and I got them all packaged up. I then did about three or four of the bigger orders, and by the time I was done it was just after eleven and I drove over to the post office and dropped all the packages on the loading dock. For some silly reason, I thought that was basically all I had to do, but I was basically wrong. I came back home and had to prepare the big boy boxes that were going to my number one online dealer. I also had to deal with a whirlwind of e-mails, which I did. I also did the long jog. By that time it was just before two, so I had to toddle off to my lunch meeting with the composer and lyricist and now musical director of the long musical. We met at Jerry’s Deli where I, of course, had my sandwich and fries, which really hit the spot. Why the fries hit the spot when the spot hadn’t really done anything to provoke the fries is anyone’s guess. We had a nice meeting and I think we’re all on the same page (page twelve) about how things will work for this next table reading, which happens on November 10. After the lunch meeting, I drove the big boy packages over to the UPS Store and lugged them in. There was only one package for me and it was one of the way overdue ones. It was so overdue that I’d just opened a claim with paypal to get my money back because the stupid seller would not respond to e-mails. I checked his feedback and that, apparently, is a recurring motif – I’m going to leave him either neutral or negative feedback, because he’s a prime Grade A jerk. The other important overdue package is ridiculously late and I’ve already been in touch with the seller, who at least has communication skills and I told him if it wasn’t here by today he’d have to refund and I’d send the item back. I told him I bought it because no package from these people had ever taken longer than four days to get to me – this one’s been fifteen days in transit and the item will not be of use to me after tomorrow as it involves a Kritzerland release and I’ll just do without. After that, I came back home and had to package up three big overseas orders, a couple of smaller older orders, and then I had to pay an obscene number of Kritzerland bills – it’s really shocking how this stuff adds up. I then took the packages to the post office and dropped them in the drop box. I then came home and had to prepare the two eBlasts, send the tracks to my webguy and get everything ready for our announcement. Then I had to proof the master for the soundtrack release, which I did and approved. Then my designer came by and picked up some material for the Holy Grail release. After that, I was finally done – at ten-thirty. Whew!
Obviously I had no time to watch a motion picture on Blu and Ray or DVD, even though I’ve got plenty to watch. I’ve been watching a French DVD from France in the bedroom – The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe. I once thought it was pretty funny, but it has not aged well, I hate the leading actor, and I don’t think I’ll last all the way through. Instead, I’ll begin watching films from the William Castle box set.
Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because my work is not finished yet. As soon as I post these here notes, I have to send the eBlasts, post on Twitter and Facebook, and then I can finally get my beauty sleep.
The good news is that today IS very light. I have to do the long jog, go to the post office briefly, but the only other thing on the burner for today is to look over the new draft of the long musical – I may or may not do that, however, depending on how I feel. I can let that slide until Thursday with no problem. Frankly, I think I’d rather just get everything done by noon and take the rest of the day for some ME time. Hopefully I’ll be printing out lots of orders, too.
Tomorrow, I’m having lunch with our very own Mr. Jason Graae, so that will be loads of fun. Friday, I’m having lunch with my pal Lauren Rubin and that, too, will be loads of fun. I think I have to see something over the weekend, and I think we’re going to try to have a LACCTAA meeting over the weekend, too.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do the long jog, I must go to the post office, I must finish by noon, and I must eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland.
