Well, dear readers, since yesterday was a chicken sort of day, I’m happy to report that at last night’s belated birthday dinner with friends Mr. Nick Redman and Miss Julie Kirgo, I had two count them two chicken dishes – my beloved orange chicken (extra crispy) and Kung Pao chicken. I’m always so happy when eating at Genghis Cohen, for me the finest Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles. We also had green beans and their wonderful crackerjack shrimp. Of course, now I feel bloated and uncomfortable, but getting there was half the fun. We ate, we had cherce conversation about many interesting topics, and we ate. My birthday gift was a winner – the new book The Complete Lyrics of Johnny Mercer, which I hadn’t gotten around to buying and now I don’t have to. I got a good fortune in my fortune cookie which was the icing on the cake – oh, yeah, our wonderful waitress (who I think has a little crush on me) brought a nice piece of birthday cheesecake, which we all shared. It was another perfect dining adventure at Genghis Cohen, whose batting average is 100%, perfect dining adventure-wise.
Yesterday, it rained for most of the day, sometimes quite hard. Happily, I had to only do a few errands and whatnot and was mostly ensconced in the home environment. I did have to write an obscene number of Kritzerland checks for big bills, and I received no packages whatsoever, and I delivered a big box o’ CDs to a local dealer, and thankfully his check pays for at least one of the obscene bills. Other than that, I proofed the new booklet and packaging for release number two and found a couple of things to fix, and that is now done and both titles are ready to announce whenever I decide to announce them. I listened to a few CDs, and did a little organizing and cleaning – I’m going through each room, throwing out lots of stuff and getting things put away, so that I don’t have to do all of that last minute before the Christmas Eve Do.
I was home from dinner around eight-thirty and began watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Zulu, an all-region Blu-Ray from the UK. I’ve never actually seen the film before – it’s quite slow-moving for the first twenty minutes, but I’m enjoying it. The quality is astonishing.
I shipped a few more packages and then packaged up yet more orders – there must be a new Brent review somewhere, because there was definitely a spike in sales today.
Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I am filled with chicken foodstuffs and feel that I am clucking away too much for my own chicken good.
I’m continuing to make notes for the new book I hope to begin on January 1. I think I’m going to have fun doing it. After I made the decision as to what it would be, naturally I had a new idea for a fourth Hofstetter book, but that will have to follow the one I’m going to do. I can say this will be a new type of book for me to write, so that makes it scary and exciting at the same time. It’s new territory for me, but I’m looking forward to just diving in and hopefully with the help of muse Margaret I’ll be able to figure it all out, style-wise.
Today I have no plans whatsoever. Nothing to write, no errands and whatnot, just whatever I feel like doing is what I’ll do. I know I’ve thought I’ve had days that were free that have ended up being very busy, but this day will not be one of those days – this day will be mine all mine. I may make a trip to Amoeba with some trade items, or I may just stay cozy in the house. I’m thinking of cooking something for my meal – we’ll see how adventurous I’m feeling.
Tomorrow, I have a breakfast meeting, and then Mr. Cason Murphy will come over and we’ll address packages and put postage on them – CDs should be here by Wednesday or Thursday and we’ll get them all shipped out.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog (weather permitting, of course), I must relax, I must eat something amusing, and that’s about it. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland and digest the belated birthday dinner.
