BIG BONE LICK

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here I am writing these here notes very early from the Pogue’s old Kentucky home. I got only five hours of sleep before it was time to be on our way from Indianapolis. The ride to Kentucky was very interesting and sometimes very amusing. Whilst on the road I kept noticing someplace called Gold Star Chili and Pogue told me they had great Coney dogs. Since we had to stop at a Staples so I could send home stuff that Jrand and the director of The Brain had given me we decided to go to Gold Star chili, where I had two little Coney dogs (they sell them in twos, threes and fours). They’re really less than half the size of a normal hog dog so two really isn’t all that much. It’s just a mini-dog, chili and cheese and mustard and I must say they were quite yummilicious. Then we were back on the road to Kentucky – we drove through Cincinnati very quickly and then I ultimately saw a sign that said Big Bone Lick. I found that quite odd. Big Bone Lick. Who came up with THAT name, I wonder, and how much had they had to drink? Big Bone Lick – that’s the title of my next novel. As we drove to Georgetown I commented that Kentucky seemed very rural. Rural was the word that came to mind and therefore rural was the word I used. It was very rural. We finally turned onto the long and winding road that led to Pogue’s old Kentucky home, which is rather a new Kentucky home, and quite a lovely and large home, too. I, of course, could not live in such a rural place. I would, I’m sure, after a short period of time, eat the head of a chicken whilst singing the score to Illya Darling. We had a lovelier than lovely visit with Pogue and his ever-lovin’ Julieanne. They could not remember their password so that I could use their wireless, hence I am writing and posting these here notes from Pogue’s computer, and it’s why they’re going up especially early. I shall be in bed by nine.

We supped at a really nice Eyetalian jernt in downtown Lexington. I had a Caesar salad, penne bolognese, and a creme brulee, all of it very good indeed. We then drove home, stopping to view a farm that has midget ponies, geese, bulls, cows, and camels. Yes, you heard that right, camels. That was pretty exciting, rural-wise. Then we came back to Pogue’s old/new Kentucky home where Julieanne tried to summon some deer. The deer weren’t having any of it, however, and so no deer were in evidence.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I shall be in bed by nine, as we have to get up in the middle of the night.

Today, we’ll be getting up at around three-fifteen and we’ll be on the road by three-forty-five, which should get me to the Cincinnati airport by four-forty-five. My flight leaves at six-twenty, but boards a half hour before then. Then I’ll land in Houston, where I have two hours before the flight back to LA. I’m sure I’ll be posting from there. And then it’s back to LA and the home environment. Please send really excellent vibes and xylophones for an on-time, safe two flights and an on-time arrival in LA.

Once home, I have to get everything ready so we can announce the new CD. There’s a chance that that might take too long to do, in which case I’ll hold the announcement until Wednesday.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll be shipping out the Little Shop of Horrors CDs, so the first three hours of the day will be very busy, and then I’ll relax for a while, then go to see Irma La Douce at the Musical Theatre Guild.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must for example, get up very early, go to the Cincinnati airport, fly to Houston, and then fly home to LA. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we ponder the mind that came up with Big Bone Lick.
